Like UnlikeExecutive assistant director of the FBI Shawn Henry, who after more than two decades is preparing to leave the bureau, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that computer criminals are too talented and current defensive measures are too weak to stop them. “We’re not winning,” he said, claiming that the current public and private approach to fighting off hackers is “unsustainable.” Congress is currently considering two competing bills that are designed to strengthen critical U.S. infrastructures such as power plants and nuclear reactors. Henry believes that companies must make major changes in the way they use computer networks to avoid further damage to national security and the ...

Oracle rejected Google's damages offer in lawsuit
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
Oracle has rejected a proposal to steamline the damages portion in their ongoing lawsuit against Android. Both sides had been asked by the judge to make proposals to streamline the upcoming lawsuit, and one of Google’s proposals was to waive their right to object to damages calculations if Oracle accepted the methods calculated by a court-appointed expert.
Those damages would apply if Google were found to infringe on the two remaining patents in the case (the others having been withdrawn after the USPTO found them to be invalid). Google was offering, if Android is found to be infringing, to pay a percentage of Android royalties to Oracle until the patents expire. Based on the numbers genera...

Samsung GT-i9300 likely not the Galaxy S III, might launch in May
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S III
Remember that mysterious Samsung GT-i9300 smartphone, photos of which were sent to us not long ago? Rumor has it that the said model number has been reserved for the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III, but the device in the images looked nothing like a flagship smartphone. And that is because it likely is not, as the rumor mill now suggests.
It is speculated that the Samsung GT-i9300 will actually launch as the Samsung Galaxy M (Not to be confused with the Samsung Galaxy M Pro). And considering the company's current smartphone naming scheme, we might be actually dealing with a mid-range device here, not a flagship smartphone. Furthermore, the same sources claim that the Samsung Galaxy M...

Sony Announced PlayMemories
Like UnlikeFiled in: Sony
Sony hopes to compete with services like Dropbox and Amazon Cloud Drive.
The company has announced that it will launch a new service called PlayMemories Online, which will give users 5 GB of storage for uploading images and videos.

It's the latest push by Sony in two efforts - first, it's in an ever intensifying arms race with the Xbox 360 as the two consoles compete to see who can be the best multimedia platform.
