Barnes & Noble's mystery Nook Audio revealed to be a pair of headphones
Like UnlikeFiled in: HeadphonesBarnes & NobleNook Audio IE250
We heard of a mystery Barnes & Noble product known as Nook Audio a few weeks ago, but now the secret is out — according to a new image added to the product page on BN.com, it appears to be simply a pair of headphones. There's unfortunately still no other details whatsoever — no price, no release date, or any hint on what might make these headphones qualified to bear the Nook brand. With an image now available, however, we'd expect some real detail on this product to make the rounds very soon. With the Nook Tablet and Nook Color's audio and video capabilities, we suppose a Nook-branded pair of headphones makes at least some amount of sense.

Google CEO Has A Tough Day In Court
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
Google CEO Larry Page took the stand in federal court today to answer questions from über-lawyer David Boies—he of U.S. v. Microsoft, Bush v. Gore and a bajillion other high profile cases—in a case that pits Oracle against Google. So how did it go?
Er. Well it's not quite noon here on the West Coast, but I hope Larry has already been able to pop open a cold one. As The Washington Post reports: "The taciturn Page often looked uncomfortable on the witness stand as he sparred with David Boies," and "Page rarely looked at Boies and frequently said he couldn't remember seeing some of the internal Google documents that Oracle is using to build its case."

140,000 Mac computers still infected by 'Flashback' trojan, firm says
Like UnlikeFiled in: Apple
Apple responded fairly quickly to news that more than 600,000 Mac computers were infected with a trojan virus called “Flashback.” One week after the massive botnet was discovered, Apple issued an update fixing the Java vulnerability that allowed Flashback to infect the machines, as well as a removal tool for affected machines. Despite the company’s efforts, Symantec stated on Tuesday evening that approximately 140,000 OS X PCs were still infected with the virus at that time. “The statistics from our sinkhole are showing declining numbers on a daily basis,” the company wrote on its blog. “However, we had originally believed that we would have seen a greater decline in infections at this point...

Qualcomm breaks records with Q2 2012 earnings, thanks 'strong demand' for 3G- and 4G-enabled devices
Like UnlikeIt's a good time to be in business. And by "business," we mean, "in the wireless business." Apple and Samsung seem to be selling every smartphone they make, and Qualcomm seems to be outfitting those very devices with quite a few components. After a record-setting Q1, Qually has just revealed that its Q2 2012 earnings made for "another quarter of record revenues and earnings per share." The driving force? "Strong demand for 3G- and 4G-enabled devices across both developed and emerging regions," according to Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, the outfit's chairman and CEO. Mobile device usage isn't apt to start contracting anytime soon, which has pushed the company to increase operating expenses to "facilita...

Twitter promises it will not become a patent troll
Like UnlikeTwitter’s lead engineer confirmed in a post on the company’s blog on Tuesday that Twitter will not use its patents aggressively. “Patent trolling” is a strategy that has become increasingly popular in recent years. Companies with active product portfolios aim to stifle competition and protect their intellectual property by using patents offensively, and companies without active portfolios purchase patents from inventors and use the patent system as a core means of generating revenue. According to Twitter, the company is taking steps that will see it avoid both of these roads now and in the future. Read on for more.

Samsung reportedly halts Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) production to add quad-core CPU
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGalaxy Tab 2 10.1
When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it wasn’t the high-definition tablet we’re still waiting for the manufacturer to announce. In fact, it was nearly identical to the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, but that may change ahead of the tablet’s launch. NetBookNews on Wednesday cited a Korean Samsung insider who claims the company has halted production of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 so that it can be upgraded with a quad-core processor. Pre-sales were originally scheduled for May 4th and the device was supposed to launch on May 13th for $399.99, but it is unclear if these dates will be pushed back. Earlier reports suggested the Galaxy Note 10.1 has also been del...

Amazon's cloud infrastructure said to power 1% of the Internet

Amazon’s cloud computing infrastructure has seen tremendous growth and is silently becoming a core element of the Internet. According to research from DeepField Networks, one-third of the millions of users covered by the study visited a website that uses Amazon’s infrastructure each day, WIRED reported on Wednesday. While most people still think of Amazon mainly as an Internet retailer, the company is quietly becoming “a massive utility” that is responsible for 1% of all Internet traffic in North America, according to Craig Labovitz, the co-founder of DeepField Networks. “My mother, for example, has heard of Facebook. She’s heard of Google. She buys stuff from Amazon. But I don’t think most ...

Team Katana Japan Sets 3DMark 11 Extreme Record with 1747/7884 MHz @ 1.895V HD 7970
Like UnlikeFiled in: Graphic CardsAMDRadeon HD 7970
Team Katana Japan set a new 3DMark 11 Extreme Preset single-GPU world record using their Radeon HD 7970 graphics card clocked at staggering clock speeds 1747 MHz (core) and 1971 MHz or 7.884 GHz effective (memory). These clock speeds were sustained using volt-modding (to maintain the right voltage stable), and liquid nitrogen cooling. The volt-mod was designed to override the OCP (over-current protection), and over-heat protection of the graphics card's VRM. The target core voltage was 1.895V.
The setup went on to bag a 3DMark 11 Extreme Preset single-GPU world record, where it scored X3757.69 points, bagging 1st Rank in HWBOT's "GLOBAL 1X GPU RANK" and "Radeon HD 7970 rank". Find the valida...

Anonymous supplants Pastebin with AnonPaste
Like UnlikeA hack a day keeps the government at bay? Maybe, maybe not. When Anonymous does crawl out from the behind the curtains of the internet, they like to dump their prizes and valuable information to Pastebin. Naturally, Pastebin didn’t take too kindly to its service being used that way, and pledged to delete posts which it considered to be abusing the service. Not only that, Pastebin has been blocked in several countries. What’s an Anonymous to do? Simple! Create your own service.
