Google is offering users of its Gmail service a new tool called Gmail Meter, which provides monthly statistics about everything from how many emails you sent and received to how long it usually takes you to reply. Apple jabs new Samsung Tab in Germany
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungAppleGALAXY Tab 2 (7.0)Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
It appears that Apple is not satisfied with the changes Samsung has made to its Galaxy Tab line over in Germany this month as the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, modified from the 10.1 with no N, still infringes on the iPad’s form and purpose – so they say. This same claim for the original Galaxy Tab has already taken hold in some other parts of the world and Apple has indeed succeeding in banning the 10.1 version of Samsung’s tablet line for brief periods of time in the past – this time though, it’s after Samsung took steps to avoid such a suit specifically. Will the Tab 10.1N, with its front-facing speakers and all, be able to avoid the Apple hammer in Deutschland?

Samsung's S-Cloud tipped to arrive alongside the Galaxy S III next month
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S III
Korean newspaper Maeil Business believes that Samsung's finally ironed out the kinks in its S-Cloud service and will unveil it alongside the Galaxy S III at next month's event. The Korean giant will reportedly offer an "unlimited service" with less of the content or storage restrictions imposed by iCloud. It'll also apparently come with a VOD-store, offering up audio and video content for a fee, presumably beside what's available in Google Play. It's also reporting that the company's Media Solution Center has asked Microsoft to join KT and Amazon in developing the infrastructure to ensure a smooth launch. Either way, it's not long now until we know for certain, so be sure to join us on May 3...

Skype App Won’t Support Low End Windows Phone Devices
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMicrosoft
Microsoft just released the first version of Skype app in Windows Phone Marketplace last night. While most of us will be enjoying the app, the upcoming Windows Phone Tango devices with 256MB RAM such as Nokia Lumia 610 won’t have access to this most wanted app. In the release notes by Skype team posted yesterday, they have mentioned that your Windows Phone requires a minimum of 512MB of memory to install and use Skype which basically tells us that Windows Phone Tango devices are not supported.

Rumor: Microsoft to start pushing out Windows Phone Tango this month
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMicrosoftWindows 8
Since Windows Phone first started shipping back in Q4 2010, there have been two software updates: NoDo, which added copy and paste and CDMA support; and Mango, which added multitasking, a newer version of Internet Explorer, and a whole bunch of UI tweaks. Now there’s a third update scheduled to go out this month called Tango. Some of you may have heard that codename before when we reported on the Nokia Lumia 610. That device is special because it’s the first Windows Phone to run on lower end hardware specifications, which is a feature of Tango. Other features of Tango include the ability to handle SIM contacts, to send multiple images via MMS, and there’s likely many other small things that ...

Rumor: HTC is working with ST-Ericsson on their own custom chip
Like UnlikeFiled in: HTCEricsson
Apple’s engineers custom designed the A4, A5, and A5X chips that are found inside their products. Samsung puts their own Exynos chips inside their smartphones and tablets. Back in February of this year, Huawei announced that they’re going to fit a custom chip inside their flagship Android device, the Ascend D1 Quad. This begs the question, when are others going to get in on the custom action? According to Unwired View, HTC is working together with ST-Ericsson on a custom chip that’s purpose built for low-end Android smartphones due to hit the market in 2013. We don’t know how much work HTC is actually going to do with regards to the chip design process, but something tells us that they’re go...

Saturday, we showed you User Agent Profile information that hinted at a T-Mobile version of the Samsung GALAXY Note. Now, TmoNews has obtained a number of screenshots showing off what appears to be a T-Mobile variant of the Samsung GALAXY Note. The model number is SGH-T879 and the build number of IML74K.144 matches the build number of the AT&T version of the phablet. New iPhone Unlock Should Work With Any Model
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesApple
iPhone unlocks are usually a tetchy experience – you have to have the right firmware on the right model iPhone at the right time. Now, however, thanks to a method that spoofs the activation server, you can unlock almost any iPhone semi-permanently.
The system, called Subscriber Artificial Module or SAM, requires a jailbroken iPhone and Cydia. To run it, you de-activate your phone, insert a new SIM, and then activate SAM. SAM spoofs the activation process, convincing the phone that it has been unlocked properly and without issues.

Virgin and Boost to go 4G, makes Sprint's WiMAX feel wanted
Like UnlikeFiled in: Sprint
If you were thinking "how wonderful, but..." when you learned that Boost was getting a new 4G handset, hold that thought. If reports from Technobuffalo are to be believed, both Boost and Virgin Mobile will be renewing their vows with host provider Sprint and getting access to its 4G spread. Surprisingly, this apparently only extends to the existing WiMAX, not LTE infrastructure. While WiMAX isn't Sprint's favorite 4G flavor, it has at least committed to keeping it going for a while yet, enough time for you to upgrade once more at least.
