Today, in the heart of the Big Apple, LG held its annual Texting Championship where 10 finalists from across the country, including last year’s champion, duked it out on stage against one another to become the lone standing 2011 LG Texting champion.
Indeed, thumbs were flying all over the place as the contestants used the LG Doubleplay to dish out some passages of text on its intriguing split-style QWERTY keyboard. After a solid hour of competition, the only players that remained standing were none other than Wisconsin native Austin Wiershke and last year’s winner, Brianna Hendrickson. During their heads-up session, both players had to text phrases using their LG Doubleplay smartphones, but ...

RIM releases BBM SDK for WebWorks, injects some chatting flavor into your apps
Like UnlikeFiled in: RIM BlackBerry
This year's BlackBerry DevCon might have come and gone with nary a mention of BBM's flagrant promiscuity, but RIM did give us some other BBM news. The Canuck company's BBM Social Platform SDK is now up for general availability after recently hitting version 1.0. The release extends its venerable messaging protocol to WebWorks developers, allowing their wares to initiate chats and incorporate BBM statuses, avatars and personal messages from the service. Also on the docket is "application-to-application background communication," which we presume enables a smorgasbord of behind the scenes cross-application chattiness. Finally, Crackberry developers will be able to start file transfers over the...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungOmnia 7
It seems the Internet Sharing firmware update is rolling out to multiple other Windows Phone 7 handsets also.
After the LG Optimus 7 the latest is the Samsung Omnia 7 in Australia, where the handset has received a firmware update to Firmware revision number 2424.11.9.2 and Bootloader version 5.9.0.6 which has enabled WIFI Internet Sharing.
Users also report generally improved 3G performance and even better camera performance, but that may just be a placebo effect.
Read more in this Whirlpool thread here.
Not all users are however as lucky. WeLoveWP.hk reports the HTC HD7 has also received a post-Mango firmware update there, but that this failed to bring Internet Sharing or any other new fea...

Like UnlikeFiled in: SonySony Ericsson
Ericsson has announced that it's selling its part of the joint Swedish-Japanese venture Sony Ericsson for $1.47 billion (1.05 billion euros). The Japanese Sony Corporation will become the sole owner of the phone maker in an attempt to boost its mobile portfolio.
"Sony will acquire Ericsson's 50 per cent stake in Sony Ericsson... making the mobile handset business a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony," Ericsson said. The decision has already passed approval of both companies' boards, but it's, of course, yet to pass regulatory approval by January 2012. The deal evaluates the whole of Sony Ericsson at around $3.0 billion, almost four times less than what Google paid to acquire Motorola Mobility.

Power is drawn in from a 24-pin ATX (angled) connector, 8-pin EPS, and a 4-pin Molex (for PCIe slot electrical stability). There are just four DDR3 DIMM slots, one per memory channel.
