Sony Xperia ion with 4G LTE support heading to AT&T

AT&T has impressively announced at CES 2012 six new 4G LTE devices to launch on its network early this year, five of which are smartphones with one being the Sony Xperia ion. This powerful 4G LTE smartphone will be an AT&T exclusive expected to launch in the second quarter of 2012.
The Sony Xperia ion features a massive 4.6-inch HD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution along with two HD cameras. The front-facing camera is capable of capturing 720p HD video, while the rear-facing camera is capable of 1080p Full HD video recording and features a 12-megapixel resolution. With Sony’s Fast Capture technology, the cameras can go from standby mode to first shot in 1.5 seconds.

Fujitsu teases quad-core Tegra 3 smartphone with Android 4.0

Fujitsu distributed a flyer at CES teasing a quad-core Tegra 3 Android phone with a 12-GPU graphics accellerator running Ice Cream Sandwich. Quad-core tablets are only just starting to show up, so having that kind of power in a phone should make for some decreased battery life because there's less room for a big power cell. We'll get a look at Fujitsu's high performance phone as well as its water resistant gadgets soon.

Ballmer announces LTE Windows Phones coming to AT&T

Well, it's been a long time coming, but Windows Phone has finally been granted LTE compatibility -- officially. AT&T trotted out Steve Ballmer who talked up the "blindingly fast" 4G service that'll be coming to Mango. Hopefully there will be more information coming at the live blog tonight.

Verizon announces Motorola Droid 4

No surprises here, but Motorola and Verizon have just announced the 0.5-inches thick LTE Droid 4. The Droid 4 has a 4-inch, qHD display with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of onboard memory. Additionally, the 8 megapixel camera can shoot 1080p, HD video. There is no specific availability but it should be making its way to Verizon in the coming weeks.

Nokia confirms LTE Windows Phone AT&T plans

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop just took to the stage at AT&T's CES 2012 press event. Elop explained that "the entire Nokia team is thrilled to be in the US," before confirming that an LTE-Windows Phone is coming to AT&T. "We will deliver our first 4G LTE Windows Phone phone to US customers with AT&T." Elop says Nokia will share further details on how the company plans to "bring Nokia back to the United States," later today. We're expecting a Lumia 900 on AT&T, and leaked marketing material all but confirms that.

Future Ultrabook laptops will have touchscreens, voice recognition, longer battery life, and lower prices, an Intel executive said Monday, as he also took a swipe at tablets during a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show.
More than 75 Ultrabooks -- Intel's trademarked term for a thin, lightweight, fast-boot laptop similar to Apple's MacBook Air -- are in the pipeline for 2012 and new hybrid designs with tablet features will be released later this year, said Mooly Eden, general manager of the PC client group at Intel.

AT&T has just added a new handset to its stable of devices today, introducing the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD at its Developer Summit keynote, here at CES. Powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, this "razor-thin" handset boasts a spacious 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display at 1280 x 720 resolution), boasts LTE support, and comes with a removable battery. After an uncertain few months, it looks like JooJoo/CrunchPad maker Fusion Garage is going under. According to a leaked document sent to Business Insider, creditors are preparing to force the company into liquidation. The total owed to investors by FusionGarage is said to be in the neighborhood of $40 million.

Intel announced its 32nm Atom platform for netbooks/nettops at the end of last year. Codenamed Cedar Trail the new Atom doesn't really change CPU performance all that much but includes a new GPU block from Imagination Technologies. The PowerVR SGX 545 comes with all Cedar Trail Atom CPUs by default, however it looks like due to driver issues the integrated graphics on the very first Cedar Trail systems will be disabled.

ASUS originally introduced its 7-inch Eee Pad MeMO tablet at CES 2011, but today it is announcing that in Q2 of this year it'll be available in North America. AT&T and HTC Announce HTC Titan II with 16 MP Camera

HTC CEO Peter Chou took the stage at AT&T's developer conference keynote, and held up the HTC Titan II - AT&T's first LTE WP7 device. This comes just a few hours before Nokia is expected to present its own LTE-enabled WP7 device on AT&T.
The Titan II includes a whopping 16 MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor with a wide angle optical system alongside dual LED flash, image stabilization, and 720p video recording. The Titan II is also powered by a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S2 SoC, in line with current WP7 devices.

The Motorola Droid 4 appears to marry the industrial design and profile of the Motorola Droid RAZR to a five-row QWERTY keyboard and likewise includes the same 1.2 GHz OMAP4430 SoC.
