UK readers have one more thing to lord over their colonial cousins. Starting today, Archos has made available the long promised Archos 80 G9 Turbo in its full 1.5 GHz glory. Positioned as relative bargains in the Android tablet space, the updated slate can be bought from the UK Archos Store for £199.98 or £239.99, in 8 GB and 16 GB models, respectively. The updated line is shipping with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, so no firmware updates when you open the box.
As a refresher, we've been reporting on Archos G9 line for quite a while. Originally announced as the fastest Android tablets in the world, they haven't until now hit their top speeds on all models. With a TI OMAP 4460 tuned to 1.2 GH...

A brand new Archos Android tablet is on the way, and just like its cost-sensitive predecessors, we expect this lovely looking new transformable piece of equipment to be a mass release. The folks at Archos have never been shy about their ability to release tablets with a lower price-tag than the competition at the same time as offering many of the same high-rise specifications as their peers, this unit looking to do just that once again. This is the Archos G10 xs series tablet PC, and by the looks of it, it’ll be flipping open and converting in a store near you soon!

Archos launches 70b Honeycomb tablet, expected to ship next month for $199

Posted on Dec 21, 2011 by MG15

There's something good waiting in the desert at CES -- and you won't need an interesting vision quest to find it. Archos has announced its 70b Internet Tablet, the company's first Honeycomb-based slate for less than two hundred bucks ($199, to be exact). The 70b IT will be lightweight (though we're not sure exactly how lightweight), and ship with a 1.2 GHz processor, 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, 8 gigs of flash storage, 512MB of RAM and WiFi connectivity. There's also Android Market access, unlike with some tablets, along with HDMI output and a microSD slot. Are you sold? You'll need wait only a few more weeks to take one home -- the 70b is expected to hit stores in January, and those ...

Archos G9 Android tablets hit shelves starting September 20

Archos has finally given a firm launch date and price for its G9 Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablets. Originally announced back in June, the G9 tablets feature dual-core processors clocked at up to 1.5GHz and internal storage of up to 250GB.
The Archos 80 G9, the smaller of the two tablets, will come in an 8GB version with a 1GHz processor. It will cost $299, and will be available for purchase from Archos on September 20. Other retailers will be added in October.
Upgraded versions of the 80 G9, with 1.5GHz processors and storage capacities of 16GB and 250GB, will hit shelves in October. They will cost $329 and $369 respectively. The larger 101 G9 will also be available in October in 16GB and 250GB...

Philly newsies to offer Archos Arnova 10 G2 tablet for $99 with subscription bundle

Philly newsies to offer Archos Arnova 10 G2 tablet for $99 with subscription bundle

Taking a cue from other publications pushing tablet content, two major Philadelphia newspapers are offering discounted subscriptions bundled with a discounted device to read it on -- the Android-based Arnova 10 G2. The Philadelphia Media Network and Arnova will offer the tablet for $99 when purchased with a two-year digital subscription to The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News for $9.99 a month, or $129 for the year. That tally is substantially lower than the HK $1,680 (around $250) mark that the slate alone hit when it launched last month, but it's not apt to attract too much attention outside of Brotherly Love's favorite locale. So... which paper's lined up to play copycat? Check out th...

It looks like Archos' summer of the sequels is just heating up. Less than a week ago, we spied the outfit's 8-incher at the FCC, and now our brethren at Engadget Chinese are offering up a hands-on with two more second-gen Arnovas: the Arnova 7 G2 and 10 G2. These made-over slates best their predecessors with Gingerbread and capacitive touchscreens. The original 7-inch tablet ran Froyo while its big brother came with Eclair; both sported resistive displays.

If you're still waiting to pull the trigger on an Android 3.1 tab, decision day may be coming soon. Back in June, Archos revealed two G9 models: the 8-inch 80 and the 10-inch 101. Well... in case you needed time to save up a little extra dough from your paper route, pricing has been revealed ahead of the September release. The smaller of the two tablets will start out at $299.99 and the more stout of the pair at $369.99 (both 8GB base models), a cool Jackson more than originally reported. Just as a quick refresher, keep in mind that beastly 250GB options are available for both, boasting Seagate's 7mm Momentus Thin HDD technology. You know, if you're wanting to carry around your entire Metall...

Archos announced new G9 Android tablet series

Archos announced new G9 Android tablet series

Posted on Jun 24, 2011 by MG1

Archos has been one of the few companies that have been bringing tablets to market at incredibly low prices, and was one of the first to bring an Android tablet to market, even if it was barely notable. The company had released updated Android tablets for insanely low prices, but the build quality and materials used have all been questionable. Well, that may have changed this time around, as Archos recently announced the next generation of its Android tablets, the G9 series.
The two tablets, named the Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9, are definitely a step up in specifications from previous offerings and both pack some nice specifications. Both tablets differ in only the slightest of ways: the 80 G9...
