Posted on Feb 23, 2012 by MG1

Toshiba USA just revealed over Twitter that it plans to update its Thrive 10.1-inch tablet to Android 4.0 before the end of the spring. This puts the release in mid-June, as the summer season starts on June 20.
The Thrive is available in three models, with 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities. They are priced at $429, $479, and $570, respectively. All share the dual-core, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and a 1280x800 resolution display. It differs from other Android tablets by virtue of its user-removable battery and swappable rear covers. The tablet shipped with Android 3.1 onboard.

Toshiba's Thrive 7-inch tablet goes on sale today for $379.99

Toshiba's Thrive 7-inch tablet goes on sale today for $379.99

Posted on Dec 13, 2011 by MG1

Toshiba promised two things when it announced its Thrive 7-inch tablet in September: an early December arrival and a less-than-$400 price. And today it's delivering on both of those. The 16GB, Android 3.2, Tegra 2-powered tablet should be popping up in stores today for $379.99. The 32GB version will be selling for $429.99. For those that want a refresher, the tablet is a lot like the orginal Thrive in terms of design (it even has a 1280 x 800 resolution 7-inch display), though we're hopeful the charging issues and poor battery life have been excised. Our review unit just arrived, so you may just want to hold tight for that before you start pull out the plastic, but if you simply can't wait t...

Toshiba Thrive to land in UK September 1st, now known as the AT100

Toshiba Thrive to land in UK September 1st, now known as the AT100

Posted on Sep 01, 2011 by MG1

If you're a loyal citizen of the UK anxiously awaiting a Toshiba Thrive, your sleepless nights are nearly over. The less-than-slender tablet, rebranded as the AT100, will hit the United Kingdom on September 1st. Like its American cousin, it will ship with Android 3.1 and a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor -- not to mention all those ports: full-size HDMI and USB, along with an SD slot. Of course, with those rumors of a thinner Toshiba tablet swirling around, you may want to hold off on buying. There's no official word on pricing yet, though you won't have to wait long to find out.

Toshiba outs software update for the Thrive that fixes its deep sleep issue

Toshiba outs software update for the Thrive that fixes its deep sleep issue

Posted on Aug 04, 2011 by MG1

Honeycomb’s very own sleeping beauty, the Toshiba Thrive, has been plagued by a mystical bug that somehow caused some units to not wake up once it entered sleep mode. Last week though, Toshiba came out to inform us all that a software update was in the works to address the problem, but more importantly, it was promised to become available this week.
Well, kudos to Toshiba for obviously following through because starting today, a new software update for the Toshiba Thrive is being pushed out as we speak. Rather than following the usual update process we tend to see with Android, owners need to run Toshiba’s very own “Service Station” app in order to download it. In addition, the update enhanc...

Toshiba Thrive only $379 today for eBay's Daily Deal

Toshiba Thrive only $379 today for eBay's Daily Deal

Posted on Aug 02, 2011 by MG1

Toshiba’s Android Honeycomb tablet, the Thrive, has just recently got a price cut for eBay’s Daily Deal. You can now grab the 8GB Honeycomb tablet for a mere $379 instead of the standard $429. Even better, shipping is free, too. With very little time left, if you want to jump onto this deal, you best do it quickly.
The Thrive may not be as slim or sleek as other Android Honeycomb tablets available today (read: Galaxy Tab 10.1) but it certainly competes in the price arena, even without this discount. Shipping with more ports than any other tablet we’ve seen to date, the Thrive is a powerful tablet that makes up for its chunkiness with its full HDMI and USB port, SD Card slot. While you may no...

Toshiba plans to push out an update next week that fixes the Thrive's sleep mode issue

Toshiba plans to push out an update next week that fixes the Thrive's sleep mode issue

Posted on Aug 01, 2011 by MG1

Just like how some people get all groggy and irritated from being awaken from a deep sleep, even some of our gadgets fall victim to this all too common occurrence, but it’s especially noticeable with the Toshiba Thrive. In fact, it was only last week when we reported on how some new Thrive owners were experiencing some uncharacteristic power management problems, which resulted in the Honeycomb tablet not properly waking up from sleep mode.
Considering that it’s been given the tagline of being “the first tablet to get it right,” some affected owners will undoubtedly question that, but thankfully, Toshiba is quick to address the problem. Fortunately, the team over at Toshiba are already hard a...

Toshiba faces up to second buggy tablet launch
Toshiba has acknowledged a bug plaguing its just launched Thrive 7-inch Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet. As Electronista reported on Sunday, the company’s user forums have been hit by a raft of user complaints about the issue. Toshiba says that it is working on a fix for the bug, which is causing its Thrive tablets not to wake up from sleep mode.
"We're aware of the issue and are working on a fix," a Toshiba spokesman said in an e-mail to PC World. While the spokesman was unable to provide an estimated timeframe for when the fix might arrive, he confirmed that it would be delivered via Toshiba’s Service Station pre-loaded application.

The much-anticipated Toshiba Thrive 3.1 Android tablet will be available to purchase from Best Buy July 10.
The news comes from Best Buy, as I’m still waiting on official word from Toshiba but it looks like you’ll be able to head to the electronics store on Sunday to plunk down some cash for the tablet. You actually won’t have to bring too much cash with you, as the Toshiba Thrive Android 3.1 tablet will cost $479.99 with 16 GB and the 32 GB model will cost $579.99. An 8 GB model for $429 is also expected to be available but it’s unclear if this will be at all stores or limited to Best Buy’s website.

The Toshiba Thrive 10.1-inch Android tablet took its time to hit the market. It was first unveiled at CES but waited for Android Honeycomb and wisely priced itself to compete. Toshiba Thrive makes an early arrival at some BestBuy stores

Posted on Jul 06, 2011 by MG1

The Toshiba Thrive has been up for pre-order for several weeks now, and we are sure that some of you have already taken advantage of the offer. However, if you simply do not have the patience to wait until the 10-inch tablet is ready to leave the warehouse, your nearest BestBuy store may have the Thrive in stock already.
According to numerous reports, Toshiba's Honeycomb-powered slate can be purchased at a number of BestBuy outlets. Our quick check showed that BestBuy does not have the tablet available online at this time, and neither does any other online retailer, for that matter. The bad part, though, is that the Thrive is retailing at about $50 more than what you would paid if you were t...
