Galaxy Tab 8.9 gets a taste of homemade Ice Cream Sandwich

So we know that Google's latest and greatest OS is headed to the Galaxy Tab 8.9 at some undefined point in 2012. But Samsung's promise of a future update just isn't enough to sate the appetites of a certain enterprising subset of Android users. With their hunger for Ice Cream Sandwich guiding their hands, a trio of XDA members decided to whip up a homebrew version of 4.03 for their Sammy tabs. While the bootable builds, of which there are now three, are far from complete, an update over on the site's dedicated forum notes that Bluetooth, GPS, hardware acceleration and the accelerometer are now functioning, with efforts continuing to enable WiFi. If you were hoping to sample a slice of these ...

It features Android 3.2 Honeycomb that has Samsung’s custom user interface overlaying it. The inclusion of 4G LTE connectivity makes it an even more attractive device.

Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and two new Galaxy Players
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
Samsung continues to build out its Galaxy family with the announcement of the Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0. We’ve been waiting on the 8.9 to debut for some time now, but we’re certainly glad to see Samsung finally bringing its media players to the U.S.
At this point in the game, Samsung is clearly the most successful Android player today. With its ever-growing Galaxy line of phones, tablets, and now media players, Samsung alone has been able to create a real brand behind the Android name unlike any other manufacturer today. That said, these efforts are also an attempt to take a bite out of Apple’s success. Sure, call the players (and every other Android tablet for that matte...

Best Buy shopper gets to take home the Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 before the masses
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
An anonymous Best Buy shopper told Android Central about how he ended up taking home an un-released Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9. As we reported, that tablet is now up for pre-order at Best Buy. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Anyway, the subject of the story had purchased the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 from the big box retailer, but was disappointed to see that his tablet suffered from a manufacturing defect. So he decided to return the tablet from whence it came.
So far, there is nothing strange or unusual to the story. When the Best Buy rep inside the store took the defective GALAXY Tab 10.1 to the back room to exchange it with a new unit, he accidentally came out with a Samsung GALA...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 priced at $469.99
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
Are you looking for an Android tablet but don’t want to settle for the usual 7 and 10.1 inch varieties? Worry not, as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has received its official pricing for the US and should land on shelves very soon.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is just as powerful than its 10.1 inch brother, but ships with the obvious smaller display, and because of that we weren’t surprised to hear that the price of the 8.9 isn’t much cheaper than the 10 incher. Starting at $469.99, the Tab 8.9 is virtually identical to its larger variant but can be wielded in one hand and weighs only 447 grams. While it may not be as comfortable as holding a 7 inch tablet in one hand, the Tab 8.9 is much more manageable ...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 available for pre-order from Best Buy
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
Though Samsung has yet to announce retail availability of its Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android Honeycomb tablet, that hasn't stopped big box retailer Best Buy from listing the tablet as being available for pre-order.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 was originally unveiled at CTIA back in March, but it has yet to hit the market, despite its bigger brother, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, having been released earlier this summer. The 8.9 features an 8.9-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz. It is essentially the same thing as the 10.1, but with a slightly smaller screen.
The version that Best Buy is listing for pre-order is not the LTE model that was announced at the end of l...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android tablet will come in LTE version
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
Samsung seems intent on offering a tablet in just about every size that consumers might want. It has the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, a smaller 7-inch version and the 8.9-inch Tab crossed the FCC not long ago. We know that many of the tablets that are coming to market in the next few months will be packing LTE technology inside since LTE networks will be rolled out by several carriers. Word has surfaced that a LTE version of the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab will be coming.
The LTE version will get a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and will run Android 3.2 for the operating system. The Tab 8.9 will also feature a 3MP camera, a 1280 x 800 resolution 8.9-inch screen, and will weigh 455g. The tablet will be 8.6mm t...

Amazon UK has the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 on pre-order; shipping next week

At long last, the European market is finally seeing the long awaited Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, but not to ruin the monumental arriving, it seems that we might soon see its slightly smaller sibling arriving in the very near future.
Always a consideration for those who don’t want to be trotting around with a large gadget, Amazon UK currently has the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 up for pre-order on their site. Interestingly, its in-stock date is set for next week on August 12th, which means that it’s coming much sooner than what most people think.
However, it’s surely sporting one serious price tag out of the gate and seems intent on catching the gaze of only diehard early adopters. Priced at...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 shows up for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk, ships August 11th
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 8.9
Back when we got word of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 making its British debut on August 4th, Samsung told us that our UK brethren could expect its elusive younger sibling, the 8.9, "later in the year." Well, if its recently minted Amazon page is correct, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will land across the pond just one week after its big brother, on August 11th. The 3G-sporting Android tablet carries a £605 price tag. Considering its stop off at the FCC in June, and the recent appearance of the Retail Mode app, we hope to see the 8.9 stateside sometime soon. Otherwise, it'll be off to the UK for you die-hard Galaxy fans.

3G-equipped Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 hits the FCC with bands for AT&T

Samsung's mid-sized Galaxy Tab 8.9 has been a bit elusive as of late, but it's now landed in the spot where all devices go to prepare for their big debut: the FCC. What's more, this particular model isn't just WiFi-only like the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 -- it also sports 3G connectivity, and the bands specified in the FCC filing indicate that it's likely headed to AT&T. Interestingly, we've already seen this model number (GT-P7300) pop up at the FCC before, at which point we thought it was the WiFi + 3G version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. But the more detailed sketch in this latest filing seems to depict a device that's both smaller and ever so slightly tweaked (including a relocated headphone ja...
