Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman wants you to boogie

Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman wants you to boogie

Posted on Aug 22, 2011 by MG15

Sony Ericsson has brought back the Walkman range, this time with Android, in the guise of a new smartphone called the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman - catchy we know.

The Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman phone will be an Android 2.3 smartphone and will show off its music credentials with Sony's xLoud audio system, already available on other Xperia models. xLoud enhances audio output on the device, whilst dedicated music and "Infinite" buttons should mean access to the music player is nice and easy. It will also offer Qriocity music and video services from Sony, unsurprisingly.

With a 3.3-inch FWVGA resolution touch screen and Gingerbread on-board, this could be one of Android’s finest value handsets to date.

Sony Ericsson entering glasses-free 3D smartphone game with model offering HD 4.7 inch screen

Sony Ericsson entering glasses-free 3D smartphone game with model offering HD 4.7 inch screen

Posted on Aug 01, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: Sony Ericsson

After watching the launch of the HTC EVO 3D and the LG Optimus 3D (soon to launch Stateside as the LG Thrill 4G), Sony Ericsson has decided to throw its hat into the glasses-free 3D ring with a handset of its own. The unnamed handset will feature a massive 4.7 inch display with a HD resolution of 720 x 1280. The joint venture is far from the only smartphone manufacturer entering the 3D arena. Samsung is said to be working on a Galaxy 3D model.
It's way too early to determine if 3D smartphones are more than just a fad. The stereoscopic, glasses-free version used on handsets can lead to eye fatigue and headaches. And if you do not view the screen from the correct angle, the 3D effect will not ...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini measures up to FCC scrutiny

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini measures up to FCC scrutiny

Posted on Jul 29, 2011 by MG1

We've already had some hands-on time with Sony Ericsson's pint-sized Xperia Mini, and now it's the FCC's turn. The Android-packing smartphone got measured, prodded, and generally taken apart by the commission. The device, which the company is calling the "world's smallest Android powered HD video smartphone," is certainly tiny, but lacks the keyboard found on the similarly named Xperia Mini Pro, which also recently made its way through the FCC. Both are currently listed as "coming soon" on SE's site.

Sony Ericsson opened a Research and Development (R&D) operation center in Beijing, China. At the same time, the Swedish-Japanese handset maker has also extended its partnership with Suning, one of the leading retailers in China, to work together to drive further adoption of Sony Ericsson’s smartphones across the world’s most populous country.
And that’s about all we have. Plus there are words of Magnus Ahlqvist (President of Sony Ericsson Greater China) – he said: “As Sony Ericsson continues to develop a differentiated experience on Android with our Xperia smartphone portfolio, this new R&D center will contribute to both local and global R&D efforts. The new center will play a central role i...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro visits FCC on its way to the U.S. market?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro visits FCC on its way to the U.S. market?

Posted on Jul 20, 2011 by MG1

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro is at the FCC’s labs where the government-employed engineers are testing it to make sure levels of radiation are safe for the general public use. Then, once the FCC folks give it its seal of approval, the device will be ready to be sold on the U.S. soil. However, just because some phone has the FCC certificate, it doesn’t mean anyone will offer that device. We’ve seen few Japanese handsets “clearing” their way to the U.S. market but never actually hitting the store shelves. Will the Xperia Mini Pro share the same “destiny”? It’s unclear though common sense tells us that the Swedish-Japanese company wants to push its baby to the large U.S. market. The questio...

Many analysts and market watchers were expecting a strong Q2 earnings report from Sony Ericsson today, but the company took them by surprise, posting a net loss of some €50 million (about $70.5 million), compared with a net gain of €12 million (around $17 million) at the same time last year. The manufacturer also sold only 7.6 million phones during the quarter, marking a 31 percent year-on-year decrease, while overall revenue fell from €1.76 billion (about $2.5 billion) last year to €1.19 billion (almost $1.7 billion) during Q2 2011.

Sony Ericsson Xperia duo leaks again; launch rumored to be scheduled for September

Sony Ericsson Xperia duo leaks again; launch rumored to be scheduled for September

Posted on Jul 14, 2011 by MG1

Okay, it may be only a press shot and not a photo of the real deal in action, but this is clearly the best image of the Sony Ericsson Xperia duo that we have to date. The smartphone looks pretty much identical to the unit seen in the last Xperia duo photos that we came across with the location of the sensors and the front-facing camera being the only visual difference.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia duo is expected to become the company's flagship device when it launches, and judging by its rumored tech specs, the smartphone is going to be quite a beast. First of all, it is said that this will be the first Sony Ericsson handset to have a dual-core chipset under its hood with the ST-Ericsson NovaTh...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro may not arrive until Q4

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro may not arrive until Q4

Posted on Jul 12, 2011 by MG1

According to a few unconfirmed reports, the QWERTY-equipped Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro may have been delayed until Q4 due to the tsunami that struck Japan just a few months ago.
It was originally believed the Android-powered smartphone would hit the shelves in Q2. This wouldn’t be the first of Sony’s products to see delays and supply shortages due to the tsunami tragedy.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro features a 3.7-inch capacitive display, is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and has a fairly large four-row, slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
There are also some rumors floating around that this device was delayed due to an impending update of the Android software to version 2.3.4. However, other...
