Nokia 100, 101 unveiled: Espoo continues its foray in the ultra low end
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIA
he Nokia 100/101 don’t aim for the sky when it comes to their specs, but pricewise they do - the basic Symbian 30 devices push the boundary of the ultra low-end as probably the most affordable color screen phones while delivering outstanding battery life.
The two handsets are nearly identical except for two things: the Nokia 101 is a dual-SIM device with an MP3 player, features not present on the Nokia 100. Both of them, though, come with an FM radio and battery that can serve you up to 25 days in standby mode, with a talk time of 6.7 hours.

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsNOKIA
Just because you're packing an S40 or S60 device doesn't mean you should have to miss out on the haps. That's why Nokia Beta Labs is debuting a pilot app called Nokia Nearby, a hyper-local search app -- geared toward emerging markets with a heavy concentration of S40 handsets -- that helps you find restaurants, movie theaters and other locations within close range of your current location. Fortunately, GPS isn't required for the service to work properly, which makes it even more tempting to at least try out. Glance at the video below the break to get a quick demonstration, and move over to the source link to download the beta program.

Like UnlikeFiled in: NOKIA
Nokia’s Developer site was recently defaced by Indian Hacker “pr0tect0r AKA mrNRG”. He wasn’t there to steal data, instead he just just wanted to point out how little security Nokia was using. In a statement on the site, he says:
“LOL, Worlds number 1 mobile company but not spending a dime for a server security! FFS patch your security holes otherwise you will be just another antisec victim. No Dumping, No Leaking!!”

Nokia N8 camera update arrives with continuous auto focus, 30 fps video
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN8
The wait is over. Our friends at Nokia Beta Labs have just released an update to the N8’s native camera application. The update, available free at the Beta Labs website, adds support for continuous auto focus and 30fps video recording. First a Symbian Anna update and now a camera update? Not a bad month for the Symbian flagship if you ask us.
It’s no secret the Nokia N8 has an incredible camera. Up until today its video capabilities trailed behind the still photography. Taking the video recording speed from 15fps to 30fps opens the door to capturing fast-action video clips. Combined with continuous auto focus, the N8 not only replaces your point and shoot camera, it also replaces an entry-l...

Nokia E7 gets its price slashed down to $406 on Amazon
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAE7
When it was first made available on the US market, the Nokia E7 retailed for the whopping $680 on the company's online store. Sure, it was among the best handsets that Nokia could offer at the time, but its rather steep price probably made many who wanted to get one put their credit cards back in their pockets. If back then you also found the smartphone to your liking, but passed on it just because of the pile of cash you had to drop, Amazon is now giving you an opportunity to grab an E7 at a more reasonable price.

After Microsoft, it's Nokia's turn to scare the Android masses over the Google-Motorola deal
Like UnlikeFiled in: MicrosoftNOKIAMotorolaGoogle
After Microsoft's Andy Lees said the other day that Windows Phone is now the only "equal opportunity" platform, referring to the Google-Motorola deal, it is a turn of the company that actually stand to enjoy preferable treatment by Redmond to chime in.
Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop, speaking at a seminar in Helsinki, tried to make the other Android manufacturers worried in his turn. "If I happened to be someone who was an Android manufacturer or an operator, or anyone with a stake in that environment, I would be picking up my phone and calling certain executives at Google and say 'I see signs of danger ahead'", said Mr Elop.
