HTC Ruby’s first press shot leaks

HTC Ruby’s first press shot leaks

Posted on Sep 22, 2011 by MG1

The first press shot has leaked of the HTC Ruby, which is expected to become the HTC Amaze on T-Mobile sometime later this year. We’ve already seen plenty of leaked images of the device in the wild, including a version in black and even an image of the back sides of the device revealed in the reflection of a tablet screen, so there’s not too much here that’s new.
But it is the clearest full-frontal image of the device and its leak signals an imminent launch, although we still don’t have any dates confirmed. The HTC Ruby or the HTC Amaze 4G, as it will likely be called at launch, will be a powerful device for T-Mobile, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The handset will al...

4G variant of HTC's Radar spotted in the wild, flying a magenta flag

4G variant of HTC's Radar spotted in the wild, flying a magenta flag

Posted on Sep 22, 2011 by MG1

The Radar's arrival in this world was overshadowed by the massive Titan released on the same day. But if a batch of spy shots sent to TmoNews is to be believed, then this mid-specced 3.8-inch Windows Phone could be about to get some much needed 4G pep on T-Mobile's network. The photos also reveal plenty of magenta branding, Tango video calling and of course Mango running under the hood. Further corroboration probably won't come til we detect an HSPA+ Radar at the FCC, but with some decent 6/7Mbps real-world download speeds and hopefully some mobile hotspot action this could well be a device worth having.

HTC has bestowed a sparkly new handset upon its South Korean customers today, with the release of the Raider 4G. Sporting a 4.5-inch qHD display, this Gingerbread-coated device is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and boasts 1GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal storage. Graced with what appears to be HTC's Sense 3.0, the Raider also features an eight megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing shooter and supports 1080p Full HD video recording, as well as the usual smattering of WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS capabilities. HTC Rhyme official: 3G, 3.7-inch display, single-core CPU, headed to Verizon for $199 on contract

HTC Rhyme official: 3G, 3.7-inch display, single-core CPU, headed to Verizon for $199 on contract

Posted on Sep 21, 2011 by MG1

Well, well. Looks like those leaked press shots (and hands-on photos and video walk-through) were on the money. HTC just officially announced the Rhyme -- that womanly handset otherwise known as the Bliss. As it happens, HTC isn't explicitly marketing this as a lady phone, though it bears all the markers of a device pandering toward those of us with XX chromosomes. Which is to say, it's petite and purple with middling specs. What you're looking at is a handset with a 3.7-inch WVGA display, a single-core 1GHz Qualcomm CPU, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage space, a non-removable battery, microSD expansion slot, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS radios and dual 5MP / VGA cameras. The phone runs Andr...

HTC Windows 8 tablet with Qualcomm chipset in the works

HTC Windows 8 tablet with Qualcomm chipset in the works

Posted on Sep 21, 2011 by MG1

After the rumor yesterday that Intel peeps have been scouring the floors at IDF 2012 holding HTC Android devices, likely smartphones, powered by Intel chips, now Eldar Murtazin spilled the beans that HTC has also started developing a Windows 8 tablet.
In the casual Twitter conversation he says that this is an ARM-based tablet, not an Intel machine, and the chipset inside will be of Qualcomm make. Qualcomm is a minority shareholder in HTC, which explains why the Taiwanese have this tight and warm relationships with the Snapdragon family.
Windows 8 Kal-El ARM-based tablets are rumored to list battery life in days, not hours, as one NVIDIA rep cryptically noted, but the Intel-based gear, which ...

HTC Explorer first press shot surfaces

HTC Explorer first press shot surfaces

Posted on Sep 21, 2011 by MG1

The HTC Explorer, also known as the HTC Pico, is a tiny little Android phone poised to become one of the most affordable HTC smartphones to date. With a small 3.2-inch HVGA 320 x 480 pixel screen, a humble 600MHz processor, 384MB of RAM and a five megapixel rear camera the Explorer will fit somewhere around the HTC Wildfire S in the company’s lineup.
Of course, it targets budget-savvy users and if you ask us might launch for the sweet price of zero when purchased with a two year contract. On the software side, it runs Android Gingerbread spiced up with HTC’s latest Sense UI 3.5.
The HTC Explorer might arrive as soon as today at HTC’s NYC event, but we’d rather put our bets on the event bring...

HTC rumored to work on Android devices with Intel chips inside

HTC rumored to work on Android devices with Intel chips inside

Posted on Sep 20, 2011 by MG1

Just as there will be Windows 8 tablets with NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments ARM-based chips, so goes the other way around - we will see Android devices, powered by Intel silicon.
In fact, rumors suggest that Intel employees have been walking the floors at IDF 2012 with HTC-made devices in hand running Android, but powered by an Intel chipset, which will be previewed around CES or MWC time early 2012.
Google's Andy Rubin announced a strategic move the other day to support Intel's x86 architecture in the next versions of Android, and the announcement was scheduled for the same day when Microsoft introduced Windows 8 running on ARMed tablets.
Now what is HTC doing sniffing around and ...

Telstra won't be Gingerbreading the HTC Desire after all

Telstra won't be Gingerbreading the HTC Desire after all

Posted on Sep 20, 2011 by MG1

If you're on Australia's Telstra network and you're still clinging to hope of an OTA Gingerbread update for your beloved HTC Desire, then now it's officially time to let go. For a while it looked like Telstra might opt for a smart workaround to the old handset's lack of memory, but now the operator's update page makes it clear that it has fallen in line with the wider HTC stance: Android 2.3 just isn't viable on this device, unless you're prepared to go off-piste with the developer build or an unofficial ROM.

HTC Titan and HTC Radar expected to be available 4th October in Netherlands

HTC Titan and HTC Radar expected to be available 4th October in Netherlands

Posted on Sep 19, 2011 by MG1

The first of the next wave of Windows Phone 7.5 handsets is set to hit the west very soon, with the HTC Titan and HTC Radar expected to reach stores on the 4th of October, a mere 2 weeks from now, in the Netherlands.
The high-specced HTC Titan will be a steep 559 Euro at Smartphoneshop.nl and the more mid-range HTC Radar 369 Euro.
Having used an HTC Trophy for around a year now, and never feeling disadvantages compared to the HTC HD7, I do wonder if the HTC Titan is worth the extra expense over the HTC Radar. What do our readers think? Let us know below.

HTC Bliss to be called the Rhyme, launching September 20?

HTC Bliss to be called the Rhyme, launching September 20?

Posted on Sep 15, 2011 by MG1

The HTC Bliss is a phone we've seen so much of that new press renders don't necessarily show us anything we haven't seen before -- there have been enough hands-on photos, walkthrough videos and leaked Sense 3.5 screenshots that there's really no questioning its future. The image you see above was leaked with a few new pieces of quality information: the Bliss will inevitably become the Rhyme once it hits stores -- which plays right into HTC's infatuation with Beats, though the tech probably won't be incorporated here -- and will likely be announced at the September 20th event (the date on the press image is often a solid indicator). HTCInside is also reporting that the Rhyme will be available...
