Thanks to a leaked Honeycomb ROM Update Utility (RUU), you can head over to the sourcelink and download what is called a "very early beta build" of Honeycomb for the HTC Flyer. Of course, by doing this you might not be able to root your tablet or put it through the wayback machine to load a more stable version of the OS.
If you want to wait for the custom ROM, well that is an option for you as well. If you go ahead and take the risk of downloading the Honeycomb RUU for your HTC Flyer, let us know how it goes by dropping us a comment in the box below!

Samsung will 'never' buy webOS, CEO says
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsSamsungPalmwebOS
During the IFA trade show in Berlin on Friday, Samsung Electronics CEO Choi Gee Sung addressed rumors and speculation that Samsung was considering purchasing webOS from HP. Choi said Samsung would “never” make the purchase, according to Bloomberg. “It’s not right that acquiring an operating system is becoming a fashion,” he said. Samsung Mobile already has its own mobile operating system called bada and just released version 2.0. It also sells smartphones running Android and Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. HP, which recently announced that it is ostensibly killing off the mobile operating system, has been working with other technology firms to license webOS. While Samsung may not buy web...

Intel to throw in the towel on MeeGo, another one bites the dust
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsIntelNOKIAMeeGo
After webOS got on the backburner, now MeeGo is receiving a fatal blow with Intel freezing its development efforts citing lack of partner interest. When Nokia announced it will go the Windows Phone way, Intel vouched to keep MeeGo thriving on its own, but the market obviously had other intentions.
Nokia N9, running MeeGo Harmattan, is actually a quite innovative handset, which proves the potential of MeeGo, but in the cutthroat mobile industry there is just very little space for more operating systems. Android, iOS and Windows Phone are the triad that analysts say will take over, with Samsung's bada OS and RIM having their special places as well.
Intel will focus on what it does best, instea...

Gingerbread update for the Motorola DROID 2 is being pushed out pronto to handsets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleDROID 2Android 2.3
There’s no arguing that the Motorola DROID 3 exudes that perfect combination of dreamy specs and improved design to make it one of the more substantial handsets for Verizon, but its predecessor is also seeing some love now that Gingerbread is making its way to it.
Today, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is being sent out and brings the Motorola DROID 2 up to spec with some of its siblings. However, it’s only packing Android 2.3.3 as opposed to the more recent version of 2.3.4 – still, we’re sure handset owners are going to be appreciative. Obviously, one of the more prominent visual changes with it is the fact that it sports a new user interface and color scheme. Meanwhile, some of the oth...

Spotify Wants to Bake Itself Into All Your iOS Apps

Spotify Wants to Bake Itself Into All Your iOS Apps
Spotify's been up for nearly two months, and it's shown amazing growth. Now it wants to find its way into everything else you do on your iPhone by handing developers and Premium users the new Spotify API.
Called libspotify 9, the code will allow the program to live inside any app developers can think of. Spotify sessions are already handled pretty well by iOS multitasking, but, as excellent as the app is, you tend to have to leave what you're doing to change playlists. By sticking the functionality into games, for instance, you won't have to jump out of what you're doing in the middle of a campaign. Pretty neat.

HTC rep claims Mango update coming in September
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftHTCWindows Phone 7.5
The most frequent question we get these days is when the Mango update will be pushed out by Microsoft.
We Love Windows Phone .HK have posted this excerpt from a conversation with a HTC customer service rep posted by WPXAP, a Chinese Windows Phone Forum, which goes some way to answering that question.
In the conversation the rep claims, based on internal emails, that HTC has completed the OEM customization of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and that this is just awaiting Microsoft certification before being pushed out.
The rep claims the update will definitely be arriving in September, but could however not pin it down even more closely.
Of course for most people the day the update arrives depends.....

More Windows Phone showing up in Windows 8
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftWindows 8
Some recently leaked screen shots of Windows 8 show an ever stronger influence of Windows Phone 7.
The above shot (via Winrumors) over the shoulder of one of their presenters shows a tile-like start menu on the “immersive” UI that appears much more closer to the Windows Phone 7 version, with multiple tiles tightly grouped together. Previous versions from earlier this year showed many fewer tiles spaced further apart.
This shot above (from this Microsoft video) from the “Classic” UI still shows a metro-fied menu and date and time widget, indicating in Windows 8 you will never be far from the Windows Phone 7 look, even if you spend most of your time in the “Classic” UI.
Irrespective of how W...

Mozilla launches its long awaited Firefox app for Honeycomb tablets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 3.0
Mozilla announced the launch of its long-awaited Firefox app for Honeycomb tablets, which will “show the evolution of its phone based predecessor,” with some added enhancements. This new app, allows users to take advantage of the “Awesome Bar,” a tool that provides quick access to your favorite sites and bookmarks from within the URL bar.
Besides its Android Honeycomb look, app users will find no change in trademark Firefox UI details like the back button. Another noteworthy enhancement is the cool “tabs” interface that switches from sidebar to drop-down tabs menu based on which way you’re holding the device; the company put in a lot of effort in hiding all of its UI elements to free up the ...
