On cue, Apple has just seeded iOS 5 beta 4 to developers. The biggest change? It’s an OTA update… finally! The build itself is 915274d and it comes exactly two weeks after beta 3 was pushed out to devs. There will most likely be another one or two beta releases until the GM (Gold Master) as well — iOS 5 will be released for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, and iPad 2 around September.

OS X Lion Might Disable Flash Hardware Acceleration

Flash on OSX Lion is a TAD BIT BUGGY right now. That's not lost on Adobe, and they've posted a document of all known issues with 10.7. One issue they suspect, but can't prove: Apple disabled hardware acceleration with Flash.
Flash Player may cause higher CPU activity when playing a YouTube video. Possibly related to disabled hardware acceleration.
Other issues include the inability for the mouse to interact with dialog menus in Flash, and custom mouse cursors not behaving as they should.

OS X Lion is here and I am already typing this story on the new OS X update. It was not enough for Apple to just release the new OS X 10.7 though. Apple also released the highly anticipated new 2011 MacBook Air. The MacBook Air is twice as fast and features the Thunderbolt port. Mac mini fans also get treated to a new 2011 Mac mini with double the performance and Thunderbolt port.
Apple also released the world's first Thunderbolt Display. With the release of the new MacBook Air line Apple has killed the white MacBook. Apple apparently decided to not update the MacBook and have the basic MacBook Air priced at $999 take its place.

Apple plans overnights for Tuesday in preparation of OS X Lion launch

Apple has reportedly scheduled overnights for Tuesday night in preparation for the OS X Lion launch. According to 9to5 Mac, Apple Store outlets are already equipped with hard drives to quickly install Lion on the show floor computers, and the stores have been sent new posters to outfit the walls with advertisements for the new operating system. Apple is also expected to refresh the MacBook Air in the imminent future. We’re expecting the new notebooks to pack the Thunderbolt I/O port in place of DisplayPort, Intel’s new Sandy Bridge processors, and a backlit keyboard.

Apple releases iOS 4.3.4, fixes PDF vulnerability

Apple has just released iOS 4.3.4 for its iOS devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad and third and fourth-generation iPod touch devices. Apple also released a comparable update for Verizon Wireless’ CDMA iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.9. The new build includes a security update that addresses a vulnerability with PDF files. It also patches the extremely popular jailbreak.me jailbreak solution, so it will no longer function on devices that update. IOS 4.3.4 is available immediately via iTunes.

Apple on Monday released a new build of its iOS 5 beta software to developers. The new build — iOS 5 beta 3 — is available for all applicable iOS devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, Apple TV, and third and fourth-generation iPod touch devices. Apple also released the third beta of iTunes 10.5 alongside the new iOS release of course, and it will be necessary for developers to install iTunes 10.5 beta 3 in order to load the new iOS beta on their devices. iOS 5 Beta Reportedly Sets One Developer’s iPhone Cable Ablaze

Oh, the many woes of being an early adopter in the Beta software world. The software might crash, causing you to lose all your work! It may have gaping security issues, leaving an entry way for malicious misdoers! It may start your stuff on fire! Wait, what?
According to developer Gus Pinto (who sum ups his life in under 140 characters as “Pioneering Mac Desktop Virtualization. iOS, Mac & Android Development”), that last bit is exactly what happened to his iPhone 4 running a Developer Beta build of iOS 5.
Early this morning, Gus tweeted out “My charging cable caught on fire while charging my iPhone 4 running iOS5. #fail”, providing the above shot to back up his claim.

Apple beats RIM is U.S. market share - Android above both

The latest numbers have come out from comScore and it has some revealing stats about the state of the U.S. smartphone market. Basically, Apple and Android are winners while RIM and Microsoft are the losers.
Perhaps helped by the Verizon iPhone, Apple iOS was able to surpass RIM’s BlackBerry OS in overall market share. Apple claimed 26.6 percent of the market while RIM had 24.7 percent, a 4.2 percent drop from February of 2011 (note: the comScore numbers deal with March 2011 figures). This is just the latest bad piece of news for RIM, as the company has been hammered by anonymous letters from employees which don’t express much confidence.

Apple pushes OS X Lion GM out to developers

Apple on Friday seeded the Gold Master build of its OS X 10.7 Lion operating system to developers. The build number is 11A511, and the download is available immediately on Apple’s developer site. Barring the discovery of any major issues, the Gold Master code is likely to be unchanged in the release version of Lion, which will launch to the public later this month. Apple announced recently that OS X Lion will be distributed via the Mac App Store rather than using physical media discs, and it will cost just $29.

Apple iOS 5 Beta 2 Includes Wi-Fi Sync, OTA Capabilities

Apple iOS 5 is slowly but surely coming together as beta 2, which was released to developers recently, includes Wi-Fi sync and the framework for over-the-air (OTA) updates. These features were announced during Apple’s iOS 5 presentation at WWDC 2011, and it is really a nice overhaul of the operating system. Notifications have been improved and are less intrusive, iCloud services and compatibility will be free to iOS 5 users and many more tweaks and upgrades.

You heard that right. Apple’s just unleashed iOS 5 beta 2 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch units — for developers only, of course. We’re in the processing of upgrading, and we’ll let you know what we find. You guys do the same, alright?
With iTunes 10.5 beta 2, and iOS 5 beta 2, wireless iTunes sync now works.
Notifications on the lockscreen are redone — they’re much, much bigger for a single alert, then shows in list view for multiple alerts.
iMessage only works with iOS beta 2 both ways, but it’s super fast now. We’re guessing Apple changed the servers they used for this.
