Dell Latitude XT3 convertible tablet hits FCC
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksDellLatitude XT3
It’s been a long time since we heard anything about the Dell Latitude XT3 convertible. This is the machine that I mentioned back in February that converts from a notebook to a tablet with a swiveling screen. If you are interested in a convertible tablet, this rig has finally hit the FCC after hiding in the closet for the last several months. Interestingly the tablet didn’t cross the FCC at Dell’s behest.
The machine was part of a filing that Broadcom made apparently for a WLAN card that it provides for the computer. We do know a bit more about the specs of the convertible now than we did back in February. The XT3 will use a dual-core 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-2520 processor and pack in 2GB of RAM...

Lenovo IdeaPad K1 begins shipment odyssey, courtesy of Office Depot
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksLenovo
The IdeaPad K1's long, crazy journey of near-availability looks to finally be at an end. Lenovo's ethereal Honeycomb tablet has been popping up in online retail sites since May, teasing us with availability in June, and finally offering the promise of pre-order earlier this month. It seems that the plucky 10.1 inch Tegra 2 slate has taken the final step separating itself from the hands of consumers: getting sent out for shipment. One tipster passed along shipping confirmation from Office Depot that has the device lined up for delivery today -- assuming, of course that the recipient is there to answer the door in the eight and a half hour delivery window provided.

Samsung NC215S solar netbook delayed, won't see sunlight until August
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksSamsungNC215S
Well, that didn't take long. The sun's only set once since we reported Samsung's solar NC215S netbook was up for pre-order and we're already getting word that it's been delayed. Despite earlier estimates of a July 3rd US shipping date, Liliputing is now saying that the solar-powered laptop won't make it to consumers until sometime in mid to late August, due to hold ups involving the machine's custom panels. Here's hoping this doesn't spoil anyone's plans to journey out of the house this summer.

An earlier report about Sony shipping its S1 and S2 tablet in Europe has just got more traction thanks to a new leak. Documents have Sony Centre stores in the UK taking pre-orders for the S1 on, appropriately, September 1. Previously, the pre-orders were expected to begin late in August, but the early September date seen by This is my next still allows enough time to ship them later in the month.
The Android 3.0 tablet will sport a 9.4-inch display and focus on bringing content from Sony's Qriocity service. Sony Centre stores will be the top place to sell the tablet, as staffers are said to be getting detailed training on the devices. Despite the leak, prices still aren't confirmed.

Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksAppleMacBook Air 13-inch Mid 2009
Apple's next generation of MacBook Airs could be bringing the backlighting back, if a new report is to be believed.
The first generation of Airs rocked a backlit keyboard, but the handy typing-in-the-dark feature was done away with in the most recent iterations.
As well as keyboard back-lighting, Apple Insider's sources posit that the new 11.6- and 13.3-inch MacBook Airs are rumoured to come with Thunderbolt ports for high-speed file transfer, and possibly high speed 400MBps flash memory.

HP TouchPad 4G for AT&T Announced
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksHPAT&TTouchPad
The HP TouchPad 4G has just been announced for AT&T, and this version will be sporting a 1.5GHz processor, which is a pretty nice bump up from the 1.2GHz processor that the Wi-Fi-only model uses. It has 32GB of internal memory and GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities, too, so it’s a pretty solid piece of hardware overall. And while it’s called the TouchPad 4G, it’s probably in reference to AT&T’s HSPA+ network and not its soon-to-be-launched LTE solution.
If you recently purchased the HP TouchPad with webOS, you might be feeling a little burned by the fact that HP announced a slightly more powerful model just weeks later. We have no clue why HP did that, but it’s coming nonetheless and it will be able...

HP plans major enterprise push for TouchPad
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksHPTouchPad
HP straddles two worlds: enterprise systems and consumer electronics. Its new TouchPad tablet is intended to satisfy the needs of both. But you'll have to look harder and wait longer to see HP's unfolding enterprise plan for TouchPad.
The Wi-Fi TouchPad, running the WebOS firmware created by Palm, goes on sale Friday starting at $500 in stores ranging from Amazon to Walmart, the same outlets that handle its PCs and printers. But the tablet is "enterprise ready," says HP's David Gee, vice president of marketing and enterprise solution for the Palm Global Business Unit. He oversees the marketing strategy for all WebOS devices as well as development of WebOS-based "solutions" for business custo...
