Dell's S2330MX Ultra-Slim monitor makes rival LCDs hit the treadmill

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

Was it really only a month ago that Dell released the remarkably priced U2412M? The folks at Round Rock are already at it again with another impressive widescreen -- the unromantically named (yet impressively thin) S2330MX. Lurking behind the catchy moniker is a 23-inch display (did we mention it's thin?), LED backlighting and a DVI to HDMI adapter. Let's face it, the power cables are gonna be thicker than the monitor -- it's very thin, you see. No word on pricing but, you can order one from tomorrow, August 18th. You can see how excited Scott Bates is in the official announcement video below.

More mainstream LCD monitors expected to adopt IPS panels

Posted on Aug 09, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: Monitors

With an expected decline in LCD monitor sales growth in the coming year, manufacturers are reacting to the trend by offering better differentiated models in the mainstream 21" to 25" range. A couple of weeks ago Dell quietly pushed out a new 24-inch UltraSharp monitor that uses an IPS panel and that with a few trade-offs shaves off over $200 in respect to the U2410, which is aimed at professional users.
Dell also offers a budget 23-inch IPS monitor that for a short timespan could be bought for a mere $250 (currently ~$305). Other taiwanese manufacturers are joining the party as well. Mitsubishi, AOC and Viewsonic are already offering or expected to offer 23-inch IPS monitors this year. Accor...

CTL intros new line of 'super-slim' LED monitors

CTL intros new line of 'super-slim' LED monitors

Posted on Aug 04, 2011 by MG1

Last we heard from CTL, the Portland-based company was pushing the rather underwhelming 2goPad SL10. We may not have been impressed then, but CTL's attempting to win us over again, this time with a set of three new LED monitors. Available in small, medium, and large, the 22-inch LP2151, 24-inch LP2361, and 27-inch LP2701 all offer 1920 x 1080 displays, 1000:1 contrast ratios (5000000:1 dynamic), two millisecond response times, and HDMI and VDI inputs. They also sport a helpful anti-glare coating and are apparently a quarter of the thickness of "traditional LCD monitors" -- whatever that means. Not exactly earth-shattering specs, but at $216, $258, and $330, we suppose they're not insanely pr...

OS X Lion is here and I am already typing this story on the new OS X update. It was not enough for Apple to just release the new OS X 10.7 though. Apple also released the highly anticipated new 2011 MacBook Air. The MacBook Air is twice as fast and features the Thunderbolt port. Mac mini fans also get treated to a new 2011 Mac mini with double the performance and Thunderbolt port.
Apple also released the world's first Thunderbolt Display. With the release of the new MacBook Air line Apple has killed the white MacBook. Apple apparently decided to not update the MacBook and have the basic MacBook Air priced at $999 take its place.
