TechRadar contacted HTC UK, who said "The HTC One XL is a 4G LTE device which we expect will roll out to markets where 4G is supported, but there is no word on it coming to the UK."

Filed in: Cell PhonesSamsung

While Samsung's Galaxy Ace Duos has already burst onto the scene in India pulling double duty on GSM and CDMA networks, the company today announced its dual-SIM GSM-only cousin will begin shipping in June in Russia, before rolling out to Europe and other regions later. Running Android 2.3 on an 832MHz processor and flashing a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, that dual-SIM capability is the highlight, with Samsung's "Dual SIM always on" feature that forwards calls from the phone number on SIM 2, even if the user is on a call through SIM 1. Bill Bellamy and all others in need of such features can check the press release after the break for a few more details, or the gallery below to get a look from a few...

Nokia working on slimmer PureView smartphones, Windows Phone model hinted

Posted on May 28, 2012 by MG2

Few things that prevent the Nokia 808 PureView from being regarded as an excellent smartphone, not just an excellent camera phone, is that it runs Symbian and that it is quite bulky by today's norms. But the design experts at Nokia appear to be hard at work towards delivering a spiced up range of PureView devices.

Sony ST26i benchmarks reveal Android 4.0, 4-inch FWVGA display and lackluster performance

Sony ST26i benchmarks reveal Android 4.0, 4-inch FWVGA display and lackluster performance

Posted on May 28, 2012 by MG3

Rumors of the Sony ST26i smartphone have been swirling for a while now, but up until recently, we've had nothing to sink our teeth into. Thankfully, we've now come across an OpenGL benchmark test and system profile for the yet-to-be-announced handset, and while this one seems destined for emerging markets and budget-minded consumers, the ST26i will come with just enough niceties to hold its head high. First and foremost, the system profile reveals Ice Cream Sandwich on the handset, and even better, it'll include a 4-inch, 854 x 480 display -- none of that HVGA crap here. To keep costs low, sacrifices had to be made: the phone will include a Qualcomm MSM7627A SoC, which includes a pedestrian ...

AT&T HTC One X bootloader unlocked via command line trickery

AT&T HTC One X bootloader unlocked via command line trickery

Posted on May 28, 2012 by MG3

When HTC confirmed to us that it wouldn't be offering an official bootloader unlock solution for the AT&T version of the One X, we assumed that the Android hacking community would step in and find a solution. Twenty days later, that solution is here via a process detailed by grankin01 at xda-developers. The process involves using the command line and a hex editor to trick HTC's tools into believing that the AT&T One X is a Canadian version, thereby allowing the bootloader to be unlocked. Be forewarned that as of right now there isn't a simple script for this process, but instead a twelve-step program during which a typo could brick your device. It probably won't be too long until a simpler a...

Sprint discontinues Nexus S 4G

Sprint discontinues Nexus S 4G

Posted on May 28, 2012 by MG3

Sprint has officially discontinued sales of the Nexus S 4G, we've learned. The recent release of the Galaxy Nexus would be the obvious reason for the move, though some Sprint customers (and Android fans) may still mourn the passing of its predecessor — we've heard many smartphone users say they prefer the 4-inch form factor, and the recent upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich kept it as relevant as ever.
