LG Thrill 4G shows up in Best Buy's buyer's guide

Posted on Aug 09, 2011 by MG1

AT&T's LG Thrill 4G might have been delayed until August 21st, but meanwhile it also showed up in Best Buy's product catalog for August under the LG Thrill 3D moniker. The 3D-enabled handset was put up for pre-order at RadioShack, but the initial release date of August 7th was pushed and pre-orders were extended to August 15th.
A tipster of ours now confirmed that Best Buy is expected to launch the phone for pre-order soon, but had no further details about the device. Well, we already know plenty about the phone, which was launched as the LG Optimus 3D outside of the States. The 4.3-inch display on this powerhouse supports glasses-free 3D using a parallax barrier, which acts as a slit plate ...

LG Prada K2 appears in 10 second video

Posted on Aug 09, 2011 by MG1

A short 10 second video shows off the new LG Prada K2, a high-end device that is related to the first capacitive touchscreen handset, the LG Prada. The new device has some mighty fine high-end specs such as a second generation 4.3 inch NOVA display with 1,000 nits to keep the screen well-lit. Android 2.3 is running the show while a dual-core processor of undetermined speed is under the hood. A rear and front-facing camera come in at 8MP and 1.3MP respectively while a 21Mbps HSPA+ radio is aboard.
Like the LG Prada and the LG Prada II, it is expected that the LG Prada K2 will not be available in the States. The device will be thin, coming in at less than 9mm thin. It will be a stylish device,...

LG Thrill 4G may be delayed until late August

Posted on Aug 02, 2011 by MG1

If you were saving your $100 to buy the Thrill 4G on AT&T, you’ll be disheartened to know that you may have to wait a few more weeks for the glasses-free 3D phone to hit. A leak out of Radio Shack says the handset won’t be coming for another three weeks or so.
According to an e-mail to Android Community, the device has been delayed from August 7 to August 21.

LG Thrill 4G for AT&T priced at $99 on a new two-year contract

LG Thrill 4G for AT&T priced at $99 on a new two-year contract

Posted on Jul 26, 2011 by MG1

While it’s not as cheap as we previously thought, it looks like the US version of the LG Optimus 3D, the Thrill 4G, will land on AT&Tshelves for only $99 on a new two-year contract. This almost doesn’t need to be said but we can imagine that a dual-core toting, glasses-free 3D display-rocking handset for $99 should sell like hotcakes.
The LG Thrill 4G would be the first handset of its caliber to land at such a price in the US, third-party retailers notwithstanding. When the handset is released, we can imagine that some of those retailers will be offering up the handset at an even lower price. Say, $50, if not free.
On AT&T’s website, you can now grab the Motorola Atrix 4G for only $99 and wh...

All AT&T Android Phones Released In 2011 Will Get Gingerbread

All AT&T Android Phones Released In 2011 Will Get Gingerbread

Posted on Jul 26, 2011 by MG1

The HTC Status might be a sort-of-weird, kind-of-gimmicky (with its dedicated Facebook button and all) little piece of kit, but it’s got at least one thing going for it: it’s the only phone on AT&T running on the latest (phone-friendly) version of Android: v2.3, or “Gingerbread”. Not for long, though.
AT&T has just confirmed that all of the Android phones they released in 2011 will be getting the Gingerbread upgrade treatment.
The phones AT&T confirmed:
HTC Inspire 4G
LG Phoenix
Motorola Atrix 4G
Pantech Crossover
Samsung Captivate
Samsung Infuse 4G
That sure looks like all of AT&T’s 2011 Android line up so far, to me. Anyone spot anything that’s missing?
For those of you whose pre-2011 AT&T...

LG Thrill 4G up for pre-order today at Radio Shack, ahead of August 7th launch?

Posted on Jul 25, 2011 by MG1

The LG Thrill 4G was announced at CTIA four months ago , but wasn't given its rightful time in the sun due to a much larger elephant in the room. Now the phone's launch is quickly approaching, however, and the AT&T-branded Optimus 3D is ready to get some glory. We were sent not one, but two separate emails this morning from Radio Shack insiders with a few details about the retail chain's rollout of the device. As it turns out, visitors to The Shack can be offered the opportunity to reserve a Thrill -- supposedly gearing up for an August 7th launch -- starting today with the purchase of a $50 gift card. According to the screenshots sent to us, the Thrill can be all yours for $80 with a two-ye...

Leak: LG Fantasy looks a bit like the HTC HD7

Leak: LG Fantasy looks a bit like the HTC HD7

Posted on Jul 25, 2011 by MG1

Pocketnow have managed to lay their hands on LG’s fall line-up, revealing amongst a bevy of Android handsets a single Windows Phone 7 handset, the LG Fantasy.
No specs accompanied the rendering, but the device appears to have a near edge to edge screen and similar styling to the HC HD7, suggesting to me that it will likely be a premium large-screened handset.
How do our readers feel about the design compared to LG’s previous lower-end looking devices? Let us know below.

Leaks back HTC, LG, Samsung 42Mbps smartphones for T-Mobile

Leaks back HTC, LG, Samsung 42Mbps smartphones for T-Mobile

Posted on Jul 21, 2011 by MG1

Taiwanese industry sources have revealed that HTC, LG and Samsung are expected to deliver HSPA+ 42Mbps-enabled smartphones compatible with T-Mobile’s network. The new high-speed devices will launch in the second half of this year and will mark the first time handsets with this capability have been released. To date, devices that are compatible with the 4G technology have been limited to mobile data cards or mobile routers.
To date, T-Mobile has launched ten handsets capable of achieving theoretical downstream speeds of 21Mbps, which include the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC my Touch 4G slide. It has also released the Rocket mobile router that supports the 42Mbps network.

LG Optimus 3D getting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in October

LG Optimus 3D getting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in October

Posted on Jul 20, 2011 by MG1

British version of the LG Optimus 3D won’t get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update before October. We’ve no idea what’s wrong here since by that time Google may easily launch the latest version of Android – Ice Cream Sandwich. The good news, however, is that LG’s forthcoming update will also come with some special features, custom-made to take advantage of the 3D screen. As a result, once the Optimus 3D gets that new software, 2D to 3D conversion will be possible on the fly for applications and games as long as they [apps and games] are based on OpenGL. Kinda neat though I’m not sure that justifies waiting for October, especially when we know that the competing product (HTC Evo 3D) offers the...

LG Optimus Net is an entry-level Gingerbread smartphone

Posted on Jul 18, 2011 by MG3

Aside from the LG Optimus Pro, the Korean company unveiled another Android smartphone – Optimus Net. From what I can tell, it looks like a successor to the super-popular Optimus One, which is now carried by every major mobile operator in the U.S. and elsewhere. In that sense, we’re talking about a low-to-mid end device that comes with the same 3.2-inch HVGA (320×480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and a memory card slot.
