LG Optimus Pro C660: BlackBerry clone running Android, not worth it

LG Optimus Pro C660: BlackBerry clone running Android, not worth it

Posted on Jul 13, 2011 by MG1

Walk into any phone shop and you’ll be faced with identical slabs of glass from every handset maker on the planet. Kind of boring, right? With the exception of Nokia, and most obviously Research in Motion, nearly no one else even bothers to launch devices with a physical QWERTY keyboard anymore. They might do one or two per year, but for the most part you’re kind of screwed if you’re the type who likes to hit little plastic buttons while vomiting out what’s on your mind to your Twitter followers. Enter the LG Optimus Pro C660, which looks like a clone of Motorola’s Droid Pro and the Samsung Replenish, the former on Verizon, the latter on Sprint. It’s said to be coming to the Italian market “...

LG Optimus White Edition hits the Netherlands

LG Optimus White Edition hits the Netherlands

Posted on Jul 13, 2011 by MG1

We already know that the white version of the LG Optimus Black is heading to the UK. However, in the Netherlands, LG’s baby will be offered as LG Optimus White Edition, removing “black” from its name. The old-new device is available from Sizz, which is a Vodafone and RTL-backed operator. The carrier is giving away the smartphone to anyone willing to commit on a contract. There are quite a few plans to choose from, plus anyone who jumps on board will also get a 60 EUR voucher. Alternatively, there’s the option to pay 150 EUR upfront with a cheaper plan.

LG Optimus Pro unveiled

LG Optimus Pro unveiled

Posted on Jul 12, 2011 by MG1

A new Android-powered handset has been spotted in the form of LG’s Optimus Pro which is a slab style device that packs a QWERTY keyboard below the screen.
The Optimus Pro runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Given the form factor of this smartphone, screen size had to be sacrificed as evidenced by the 2.8-inch QVGA display. The Optimus Pro also packs a 3 megapixel camera on the back.
The Optimus Pro is more than likely an attempt to lure BlackBerry customers to Android much like the similarly built Motorola Droid Pro did. There isn’t any other specs on this device yet and we don’t know about planned availability, although this phone is apparently on sale in Italy already.

3D enabled LG Thrill 4G "Coming Soon" to AT&T says carrier's website

Posted on Jul 11, 2011 by MG1

A big thrill is coming to AT&T customers. The U.S. version of the 3D enabled LG Optimus 3D, known as the LG Thrill 4G, is "Coming Soon" to AT&T according to the carrier's own web site. As we recently reported, the handset was pushed up to a summer release following Sprint's recent launch of the HTC EVO 3D, which also offers glasses-free 3D viewing.
The 4.3 inch screen (480 x 800 resolution) will show 3D content as well as take 3D pictures and video with a 5MP dual-lens camera on back. Video is captured at 1080p at 30 fps in 2D and 720p at 24fps in 3D. A TI OMAP4 dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz will be under the hood and could eventually allow the phone to offer Netflix HD, as we told you...

LG Optimus Black gets its promised white version; pre-orders available in the UK

LG Optimus Black gets its promised white version; pre-orders available in the UK

Posted on Jul 11, 2011 by MG1

It was a bit strange and confusing when we heard about it for the first time, but we knew that a white version of the LG Optimus Black was coming despite the obvious contradiction with the device's title. Well, it looks like the issue has been solved in a simple, straightforward way – by changing the market name of the smartphone.
Listed as the LG Optimus White, a white Optimus Black model has been put for pre-order on UK cellphone retailer Phone4U's web page. Shipments are expected to begin no later than June 15, and the handset's price has been accordingly set to zero after committing to a contract with Vodafone, Orange, or O2.
If we do not take the color difference into account, both the...

LG Cosmos 2 dummy units entering Verizon stores; rumored to launch on July 14

LG Cosmos 2 dummy units entering Verizon stores; rumored to launch on July 14

Posted on Jul 11, 2011 by MG1

The Motorola DROID 3 is up for sale on Verizon's web page with in-store availability expected on July 14, but it seems like there will be one more device that will hit the carrier's shelves on that exact same day. We are talking about the LG Cosmos 2 feature phone, the successor to the LG Cosmos, and its dummy units have reportedly already made it to some of the carrier's outlets.
That is what a tipster of ours shared with us today along with a photo of a LG Cosmos 2 dummy unit. Unfortunately, there is hardly any information available about the handset right now besides the fact that it will pack a 4-row full QWERTY keyboard just like its predecessor did. Its overall dimensions and display s...

LG lowers cellphone sales target for 2011 by whopping 24%

LG lowers cellphone sales target for 2011 by whopping 24%

Posted on Jul 07, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: Cell PhonesLG

The first half of the year is behind us, and while some cellphone manufacturers have been making piles of money selling handsets in epic proportions, it turns out that others have not been doing so well. LG has just announced that it is dropping its cellphone sales goal for 2011 by a whopping 24%, which means that the Korean company is now aiming at shipping a total of only 114 million handsets by the year's end instead of the previously anticipated 150 million.
The main reason behind LG's pessimistic outlook is that its smartphones are not selling as well as the company expected. According to estimates, About 10 million LG smartphones were shipped during the first half of 2011, which is abo...

HTC Status and LG Thrill 4G To Hit AT&T This Month?

HTC Status and LG Thrill 4G To Hit AT&T This Month?

Posted on Jul 06, 2011 by MG1

Sometime in the last year or so, the carriers picked up a bad new habit. They’d announce that they were getting a phone, talk all about the specs… but then give no indication of when it might actually be available. Maybe it’s because they don’t like making promises they’re not sure they can keep; maybe it’s because they’re hoping that a second announcement — the one containing the pricing/availability details — will stir up a second whirlwind of press. Whatever the motivation, it’s terribly annoying.
Take the Status and the glasses-free 3D LG Thrill for example. The Status just went official last week. The Thrill 4G, however, went official way back in March — and yet, there’s still no offici...

UK: White LG Optimus Black available for pre-order

UK: White LG Optimus Black available for pre-order

Posted on Jul 01, 2011 by MG1

You may be thinking what the point of this article is. Is it about a white or black phone? The answer to that question is… both. The name of the device is LG Optimus Black and it’s available in white. Yep it sounds confusing but that’s the way it is. And to make everything even more confusing, the same device will be available in pink, though we don’t know when.
Anyway, British phone retailers Phones4U is allowing anyone to pre-order the white LG Optimus Black, with the shipping date set at July 15th. Interested users can choose between a number of plans starting at 20 GBP a month from Vodafone, Orange and O2.
Those of you who don’t remember, LG’s baby is one sexy and slim smartphone, rockin...

Amazon Slashes Prices On Atrix, Infuse, And Revolution

Posted on Jun 27, 2011 by MG1

Amazon has done it again. They’ve slashed prices generously as only they have been known to do, and this time it’s for the Motorola Atrix 4G, the Samsung Infuse 4G, and the LG Revolution. If you’ve been pining for one of these powerful 4G LTE smartphones, now’s the time take action. Amazon is dropping prices to as low as $0.01!
Amazon has dropped pricing to $89.99 for the Samsung Infuse 4G, which currently retails from the AT&T website for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The Infuse is a 4G HSPA+ device introduced for the AT&T network back in May. It’s the largest yet thinnest device on the network sporting a whopping 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 8-megapix...

AT&T to load LG Thrill 4G with Qik, extra 3D content

Posted on Jun 23, 2011 by MG3

AT&T this morning gave further details of the LG Thrill 4G that included a handful of first for the carrier. The 3D Android phone better known as the Optimus 3D will be AT&T's first to come with Qik preloaded and, like devices from the past year, will have two-way video chat out of the box. Unlike at other US carriers loading the app, though, AT&T's service will be at least officially relegated to use on Wi-Fi.

LG Thrill 4G lands this summer on AT&T

LG Thrill 4G lands this summer on AT&T

Posted on Jun 23, 2011 by MG1

It’s not much of a surprise but AT&T said that the LG Thrill 4G will land this summer with its glasses-free 3D display.
We first spotted the LG Thrill 4G as the Optimus 3D at Mobile World Congress and it boasts a “Tri-dual” architecture. That means it rocks a dual-core processor, dual-channel and dual-memory setup. While that’s a bit of marketing fluff, that does mean you can expect the Thrill 4G to be a powerful device when it does land on AT&T.

LG Revolution now just $99.99 at Wirefly

LG Revolution now just $99.99 at Wirefly

Posted on Jun 21, 2011 by MG1

It’s not every day we come across a brand new Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone for under $100. In fact, the only other occasion we can recall is Amazon’s $99.99 HTC ThunderBolt sale from earlier this month. Starting immediately, however, Wirefly customers upgrading to a new Verizon smartphone or opening a new account can snag the the LG Revolution for the same great price — just $99.99. BGR reviewed the LG Revolution earlier this month and found it to be the most well-rounded LTE smartphone to date. While its display couldn’t match the DROID Charge’s Super AMOLED Plus screen and the UI couldn’t top the ThunderBolt’s Sense, the build trumps both those phones and the handset more than powerf...
