HTC Titan may launch as part of a buy one, get one free promotion for AT&T

Posted on Oct 13, 2011 by MG1

Thanks to a screenshot obtained from Microsoft’s Windows Phone Facebook page that has since been pulled down, it appears AT&T may be ready to offer the HTC Titan as part of a buy one, get one free promo when it launches.
The HTC Titan is expected to become the flagship Windows Phone handset for the AT&T network. With its monster-sized 4.7-inch display and single-core 1.5GHz processor that should be no surprise. Of course it will ship with the Mango update that has brought several improvements to the
mobile platform such as improved multi-tasking and a better web browsing experience thanks to Internet Explorer 9.

The Fall hits just keep coming. Today AT&T joined partners Motorola, Samsung, Pantech and newcomer ZTE to announce 5 new Android handsets due out this Fall. The line-up includes big announcements, like the Atrix 2 we saw hints of previously, and some bargain phones including just their second Android GoPhone, the ZTE built AT&T Avail. Lots to cover so let's get right to it.

AT&T starts CTIA off right by introducing five new smartphones to its Android lineup

AT&T starts CTIA off right by introducing five new smartphones to its Android lineup

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 by MG1

At CTIA last March, AT&T stole the show by announcing its intent to purchase T-Mobile US. This time around the news is a bit more modest, but the company is still hoping to give us a bit of a shock by introducing a litany of new handsets right on time for the holiday season. The carrier promised the release of 12 Android devices throughout the course of the year, and this week's announcement pushes the 2011 running count to 19. Not too shabby. Naturally, we're looking for quality more than quantity, so we couldn't wait to dig into the devices that are coming out. Check out all five after the break, along with a quick video teaser.

AT&T now offering HTC HD7S for a single penny

AT&T now offering HTC HD7S for a single penny

Posted on Oct 10, 2011 by MG1

It’s not that often to see carriers slashing the prices of their phones. Quite the contrary, usually it’s the third-party retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Wirefly that try to compete by cutting their margins to get customers on board. In that sense, today’s deal is an exception with AT&T offering the HTC HD7S for a single penny. Needless to say, you’re still required to put your signature on a two-year contract, but let’s face it – that’s something you would have to do anyway.
At the moment I’m writing this, the HD7S is still running the original version of the Windows Phone. The Mango update (Windows Phone 7.5) is scheduled to be released around the middle of October when you will (assumi...

Apple iPhone 4S now shipping in 'one to two' weeks, over 200,000 AT&T pre-orders in first 12 hours

Apple iPhone 4S now shipping in 'one to two' weeks, over 200,000 AT&T pre-orders in first 12 hours

Posted on Oct 10, 2011 by MG1

If there was any question of how hot a tamale Apple's iPhone 4S would be, the answer's edging toward muy caliente. AT&T's stated that the iPhone 4S has ushered in its best iPhone launch to date, receiving over 200,000 pre-orders for the device during the first 12 hours of availability (crediting its success to having the only US version operating over 14.4Mb/s HSPA+, aka FauxG). While that's good news for Ma Bell, as of today, you'll be looking at a wait time of "one to two weeks" after placing an order for this latest iThing (Sprint and Verizon included). We've yet to hear how the latter two telecoms have fared, but we'd imagine it won't be a secret for too long -- the iPhone 4S is official...

iPhone 4S data speeds to be faster on AT&T

iPhone 4S data speeds to be faster on AT&T

Posted on Oct 06, 2011 by MG1

If you’re considering the iPhone 4S, you now have three of the four major US carriers to choose from, with the nation’s third largest being added to the mix that currently includes AT&T and Verizon. Since the iPhone 4S is now a dual-band world phone, the same model will be available to all three carriers, making the choice more a matter of network preference. However, Apple has given AT&T a bit of an advantage.
When Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S yesterday, it was disappointingly without LTE or WiMAX support. Instead, Apple increased the device data speed to support the “faux-G” 14.4Mbps data speeds of AT&T’s HSDPA network, which currently offers other “faux-G” devices such as the HTC Inspire ...

The carrier looks to be taking advantage of the high influx of new iPhone customers that will likely result from next Tuesday’s unveiling of the iPhone 5. It’s interesting to note that AT&T had this date picked all the way back in July, according to the below leaked screenshot obtained by 9to5mac.

Samsung Galaxy W visits FCC with AT&T bands

Samsung Galaxy W visits FCC with AT&T bands

Posted on Oct 03, 2011 by MG3

The Samsung Galaxy W has just stopped by the FCC packing bands that are compatible with the AT&T network that suggests it could possibly arrive in the states sometime in the near future.
The Samsung Galaxy W has all of the makings of a mid-range smartphone when you consider the competition. It is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread device that packs a 3.7-inch display. Under the hood of the Galaxy W is a single-core 1.4GHz processor. That speed doesn’t shout mid-range but in a world ruled by other Android-powered handsets that are powered by dual-core processors it gets that title by default. The Galaxy W also has 512MB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Note has passed through the FCC with AT&T bands

Posted on Oct 03, 2011 by MG3

The massive Samsung Galaxy Note with its 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display has just passed through the FCC with support for AT&T 3G bands suggesting its release is just around the corner.
The Samsung Galaxy Note is somewhat of a hybrid device. It is a cross between a smartphone and a tablet which is similar to what Dell tried to accomplish with the original Streak. Not only does the Galaxy Note pack a whopping 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display (with an equally impressive 1280x800 resolution), it is powered by a dual-core 1.4GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

HTC Holiday visits FCC for AT&T 4G LTE

HTC Holiday visits FCC for AT&T 4G LTE

Posted on Sep 30, 2011 by MG1

The HTC Holiday is expected to be AT&T’s first 4G LTE smartphone and the device has just passed through the FCC, signaling an imminent launch. Earlier this month, the handset was caught being tested on AT&T’s 4G LTE network with speeds reaching 29Mbps, faster than typical Verizon 4G LTE speeds. However, that was without real load on the network, which AT&T only plans to deploy in about 25 markets by year-end.

AT&T CEO: 'We'll do very well' with iPhone 5 even when Sprint gets it

Posted on Sep 26, 2011 by MG3

Speaking during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference on Thursday, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said he was confident that his company “would do very well” when it offers the iPhone 5, despite the influx of competition that is expected if Sprint introduces the phone. Sprint could be in contention for data-hogging customers if it does indeed offer unlimited data with the iPhone 5 and recent rumors have suggested it will.
