White Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket arriving on AT&T just in time for the holidays

The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket was among the first LTE-enabled handsets on AT&T, and with its thin profile and dual-core chip, the only thing it was missing was... a white paint job. Well, at least that would have been nice and we can see how many would go for the white version. It seems that AT&T and Samsung also think this way, and the companies have announced that a white Skyrocket is landing on the carrier just in time for the holidays.
The pale Galaxy S II Skyrocket will arrive on the carrier on December 4th and is expected to retail for $249.99 with a contract, the same price as the original, dark version of the handset.

AT&T Reveals First LTE Phones: HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket

For a few months now AT&T has had an LTE network, but no phones that could take advantage of it. Well, that all changes today — AT&T has just announced that the Android-powered HTC Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket will be the first to run on their LTE network, and will hit store shelves on November 6.
The HTC Vivid packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor under the proverbial hood, and a 4.5-inch qHD display graces its face. A 8-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p video occupies the Vivid’s rear end, and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB with the right microSD cards) rounds out the package. Every time we think we have seen the last of the Mango update, another forgotten handset on a slow carrier pops up which still needs to be updated.
In this case Microsoft has announced that the Dell Venue Pro on AT&T is finally getting Windows Phone 7.5.
Of course at this point we have already started moving on to 7740, leaving the handset once again once step behind.

HTC Titan sold out on AT&T

It may have been a mistake to sell the HTC Titan for only 1c yesterday, as it seems the gigantic handset has proven so popular that it is now temporarily out of stock on AT&T.
The handset was already in short supply even before the promotion, and many users had difficulty taking advantage of the deal.
Hopefully Microsoft convinced AT&T to order a good supply, and the shortage is an indication of popularity and not just low stock.

AT&T’s HSPA+ network is the carrier’s iPhone 4S trump card, according to data speed analysis in the US, delivering websites twice as fast as CDMA rivals like Verizon. The fifth-gen Apple smartphone bested competing carriers on page rendering, uploads and downloads, analysts Metrico Wireless found in their testing of the iPhone 4S, though Verizon proved slightly more stable when it came to connecting – and not dropping – calls.

Even though the iPhone 4 came to Verizon as an alternative carrier in February, the iPhone 4S was the first phone to launch without exclusivity to AT&T. AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all carry the iPhone 4S nationwide — well, at least when it’s in stock — and even with all the complaints over the years, customers are still choosing AT&T more than any other carrier. Based on statistics from Localytics, more than half of all iPhone 4S units activated are on AT&T.

Sprint denied access to AT&T documents in fight against merger

U.S. District Judge Ellen Huvelle recently shot down Sprint’s request to access a number of documents related to AT&T’s planned acquisition of T-Mobile USA. “You don’t stand in the shoes of the consumer or the Department of Justice,” Huvelle said. Sprint originally sued to block the merger in September, shortly after the U.S. Justice Department filed a similar case in August. The Motorola RAZR has made it past the FCC and inside it carried radios tuned to AT&T's frequencies. But before you AT&T customers start getting excited, the frequencies are also used by many Canadian carriers and it is expected that the Motorola RAZR will be heading across the border after it is launched by Verizon. The shared bands are GSM 850/1900 and WCDMA Bands II/V for 3G.

Whatever happened to tradition? After all, it was AT&T that helped RIM step up and become a more relevant smartphone manufacturer with the launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9000 in 2008. The shape and size of the device had many becoming fans at first touch. And of course, the physical QWERTY on that phone is one of the best ever to be melded onto a handset. We can still remember the ads AT&T was running proclaiming it the fastest 'Berry ever with a 624MHz processor under the hood (compared to the single-core 1.2GHz processor in the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930).

If you weren’t among the million to sign up for an iPhone 4S on preorder day, odds are you’ll have to wait for more stock to come in. All three major U.S. service providers selling Apple’s latest handset are indicating that they’re out of stock.
