Parts suppliers detail timing for iPhone 5, iPad 3
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksCell PhonesAppleiPhone 4siPad 3
Taiwan-based companies that are part of the supply chain for the Apple iPhone 5 and the Apple iPad 3 have begun to prepare materials for the production of the two devices. Apple plans to launch just one new iPhone model this time. Meanwhile, the iPad 3 has just recently been added to the production schedule. Both will be produced in small volumes in August, with units ramping up in September and October, according to industry sources cited by DigiTimes.
Most market watchers have estimated that Apple's iPhone supply volume will only reach 20 million units in the third quarter and iPad's supply volume will only be at around 11 million to 12 million units due to the slower-than-expected progres...

Google Wants to Buy Hulu?!
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
If it's true that Google really wants to buy Hulu, is it possible the streaming television will harmoniously exist under the same roof as YouTube? Will it be like Stepbrothers, where they initially hate each other, then end up best friends?
According to the LA Times, Google is in a bidding war with Yahoo and Microsoft for control of the service, which is being unloaded by the collective of cable networks who currently own it. Google TV would be a whole hell of a lot more functional if Hulu were in its stable, and im sure some of the excellent Hulu backend tech would work its way into YouTube, which would also be nice (autoplay, hello!)

Anonymous Hits Arizona Police a Third Time
Like UnlikeHacker group Anonymous on Friday targeted Arizona law enforcement for the third time via a data dump that included information on 1,200 officers and a hack of several Fraternal Order of Police Web sites.
In a note posted on Pastebin, Anonymous said it "decided to get destructive" with this latest release, which includes a master list of over 1,200 officer's usernames, passwords, and email addresses. Anonymous also defaced eight Arizona FOP Web sites and leaked hundreds of FOP documents and emails.
"We're doing this not only because we are opposed to SB1070 and the racist Arizona police state, but because we want a world free from police, prisons, and politicians altogether," Anonymous said.

Facebook planning "Awesome" event for 6 July
Like UnlikeGoogle might be enjoying plenty of coverage of it’s new Google+ social network launched this week, but Facebook isn't having any of that putting out invites for an event next week at it's HQ in Palo Alto that promises to be “Awesome” according to founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Perhaps feeling the pressure from Google, Facebook has said that it will be holding the event on Wednesday 6 July 6pm UK time.
Not much is known as to what the company is planning with rumours circling around Silicon Valley as to what Facebook has in store.
The main guess is a new tablet version of its website for the iPad, something which currently is only available on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Other suggestions are...

RIM rumored making BlackBerry Media Box to rival Apple TV
Like UnlikeFiled in: Digital Media PlayersAppleRIM BlackBerryTV
RIM may have a counterpart to the Apple TV, according to a rumor put forward by a historically reliable source. So far nicknamed the BlackBerry Media Box, it would be a blend between the basic BlackBerry Presenter and a media hub like Apple's box. The design would even take a cue from Apple in N4BB' understanding and use the same hardware as a mobile device, in this case likely the processor and QNX-based OS from the BlackBerry PlayBook.
It wouldn't necessarily be as home-oriented as the Apple TV but might still have some third-party media services. An equivalent to AirPlay hasn't been mentioned and isn't currently known to be in the roadmap for BlackBerry Tablet OS. The OS does already supp...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftNOKIAWindows Phone 7
While Nokia busily beavers away on its first batch of Windows Phone 7 devices, it is also working hard to make sure that its app store integrates seamlessly into the OS' ecosystem.
Speaking with TechRadar, Nokia's Senior Vice President of Developer and Marketplace, Marco Argenti explained that Nokia is determined to avoid fragmenting the ecosystem with apps that are incompatible with other manufacturers' handsets
"We'll create elements of distinction, but we don't want to fragment the ecosystem because in the end we want the whole platform to win," he told us.

AT&T to enable BlackBerry Bridge support before sundown
Like UnlikeFiled in: AT&T
Most tablets function just fine on their own, but RIM's BlackBerry Playbook introduced a unique, yet restrictive interface that limits Bluetooth tethering to a similarly-branded handset. This feature, called BlackBerry Bridge, lets your tablet piggyback on a handset's 3G data connection, also enabling access to productivity apps like email and calendar, which are still otherwise unavailable on the PlayBook. Unfortunately, this option hasn't been made available for AT&T users, but that's about to change, as the feature will be added to App World today. While the Bridge suite is totally gratis, enabling the AT&T 3G data connection requires a monthly tethering plan of $45, which means anyone gr...

Like UnlikeFiled in: MicrosoftAppleGoogle
Google this week lost its bid to acquire 6,000 wireless technology patents held by Nortel, as a consortium of tech rivals offered up $4.5 billion for the portfolio.
Apple, EMC, Ericsson, Microsoft, Research in Motion, and Sony joined forces to purchase the patents, which cover wireless, wireless 4G, data networking, optical, voice, Internet, service provider, semiconductors, and other patent portfolios.

Google Chrome takes 20% global browser share
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
Google Chrome took 20 per cent of the global web browser market in June 2011, according to figures from StatCounter.
These stats measure actual usage and not just the number of downloads for each browser, making Chrome's leap from under three per cent two years ago, to 20 per cent today all the more impressive.
Meanwhile, Microsoft's Internet Explorer usage dropped from 53 to 44 per cent between June 2010 and June 2011.
Red Panda population decline
Also dipping is the ever-popular Firefox, which dropped from 31 to 28 per cent over the course of the year – a fairly moderate decline, all things considered.

California signs "Amazon tax" into law, affiliates take the hit
Like UnlikeFiled in: Amazon
California just became the latest U.S. state to sign the so-called "Amazon tax" that will enable it to start collecting sales tax from online transactions. The move will likely trigger a response from Amazon, which has made it clear that it will stand its ground against what it considers to be an "unconstitutional and counterproductive" measure that interferes with interstate commerce.
In fact, the giant online retailer already warned its estimated 10,000 California affiliates on Wednesday afternoon that it would have to cut ties with them should Governor Jerry Brown sign the online sales tax bill passed by the Legislature. Brown signed the bill later that afternoon, and we expect Amazon to ...

Adobe: Save 50% if you dump Apple's Final Cut Pro X for our app
Like UnlikeFiled in: Apple
Earlier this week we pondered out loud whether Adobe – in addition to releasing various video tutorials showing dissatisfied Apple Final Cut Pro X users how easy it was to jump to Premiere Pro – would sweeten the deal with a discount; what we didn’t expect was that discount to amount to a whopping 50-percent. If you’ve bought Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer, you can save half on a new copy of Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium or Premiere Pro CS5.5.
