Tweet from AT&T says Samsung Infuse 4G to get fed Gingerbread this month

Posted on Aug 15, 2011 by MG3

Just because the Samsung Infuse 4G gives you a gigantic 4.5 inch display doesn't mean that the OS aboard is the latest, most up-to-date offering from Google. After all, users of the device have had to live like cavemen with Froyo installed on their phone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's good for getting Adobe Flash and all, but it is not the latest and greatest build of Google's open source OS. You can imagine the suffering.

Official Windows Phone Mango update leaks out

Posted on Aug 15, 2011 by MG3

Researchers at UCLA Create Self-Charging LCDs

Researchers at UCLA Create Self-Charging LCDs

Posted on Aug 12, 2011 by MG3

A team of engineers at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science has concocted a way to build photovoltaic polarizers directly into LCD displays. This would allow the LCD screen itself to collect energy from sunlight, artificial light, and even the display's own backlight and convert it into energy. The researchers say that current LCDs are inefficient, and an LCD's backlight can consume as much as 80 or 90% of a device's power.
