Apple doctored official court documents in EU Samsung case?
Like UnlikeFiled in: SamsungApple
Apple and Samsung aren’t exactly what you would call the best of friends. Despite Apple paying Samsung millions, most likely billions, of dollars for components every year that find their way inside many of Apple’s portable products, Samsung obviously competes with Apple in the consumer electronics game. Recently Apple successfully managed to get sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 stopped in the European Union and Australia.

Rumor: iPad with "retina display" no longer coming out this fall
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksAppleiPad 3
According to Taiwanese rumor site DigiTimes, who has a track record that’s square in the middle of the “it could be bullshit, it could be true” barometer of believability, Apple had hopes of launching a third generation iPad this fall, and shipping between 6.5 million and 8 million units by the end of this calendar year, but they had to scrap said plans because they’re finding it difficult to secure availability of LCD panels. Right now, the only manufacturer who can reliably make the 9.7 inch 2,048 x 1,536 pixel “retina display” that many are assuming will be the highlight feature of the iPad 3, is Sharp. Both Samsung and LG have yet to reach a satisfactory level of yields on such advanced ...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 TouchWiz UX update paused for some bug-squashing
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 10.1
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 shipped with as plain of an UI as Android Honeycomb intended in the US, and the TouchWiz UX update began rolling shortly after launch.
Now it seems that Samsung has put the update on hold for the time being, saying it needs to ensure a positive customer experience, which is corporatese for "we need to pull it in and squash some bugs". People at XDA-Devs have been complaining about graphics issues after the update, so that might be it.

The big G's photo-sharing app has left the private beta mode it's been in the last few weeks, and is now available to download by any iPhone owner who likes the idea of "growing vines" based on their photographic adventures.
Like the Google Catalogs app yesterday, Photovine seems to only be available on the iOS App Store—what's with that, Google? No love for us Android users? It's a free download, and yes, your photos can be posted to Twitter and Facebook for maximum piss-yer-friends-off functionality.

Motorola's new Droid HD makes cameo alongside Droid Bionic
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorola
We've just received a fascinating set of photos from a sharp-eyed tipster, who sent along images of what appear to be Motorola's Droid Bionic and, most alluringly, that rumored handset known as the Droid HD (pictured above). This isn't the first time we've seen leaked images of the Bionic in the wild, but these shots are certainly a lot clearer than any others we've come across. Still, there aren't too many surprises here, with the global-capable handset boasting a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 4.5-inch display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and microUSB / HDMI ports.
The real intrigue, however, lies with the Droid HD. Judging from the photos, this device seems to be running Gi...

Sony announces WiFi-less PSP E-1000, hits Europe this fall for €99
Like UnlikeFiled in: Game ConsolesSonyPSP-E1000
Sony had more than just a PS3 price cut to reveal at its Gamescom press conference today: it also announced that it will be releasing a new budget-priced PSP model that sports a new design and curiously ditches the WiFi capability that the PSP has had since its debut. No word of a North American release just yet, but folks in Europe will be able to pick it up this fall for €99 (or about $140, though we're guessing the actual US price would come in below that; the standard PSP-3000 currently demands €130 in Europe). Hit the gallery below for a closer look.

Trouble with high-resolution display yields might have pushed the next iPad for 2012
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksAppleiPad 3
The version of the iPad 2 with a high-res display, which was supposed to come by year-end, is now reportedly been delayed due to screen production issues.
Apple's next tablet is known as the iPad 2 Plus, iPad HD, or simply iPad 3, and some iOS 5 coding revealed that it should sport a screen with double the current resolution, or 2048x1536 pixels. The high-res slate is supposedly aimed at professional graphic designers, film editors and the like, and rumored to come with dedicated versions of Apple's image and video editing software.

Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsAppleMac OS X 10.7
Since the release of OS X Lion in July, I was pretty pleased with the new features. Then the Wi-Fi connection did not restore all the time after wake-up. Only a Wi-Fi restart fixed the connection. Today Apple released the first OS X Lion Update with OS X 10.7.1. One of the mentioned fixes is the improvement of the Wi-Fi reliability. I already updated my iMac and lets hope the bug is gone.
Other fixes in OS X 10.7.1:
- Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari
- Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out
- Improve the reliability of Wi-Fi connections
- Resolve an issue that prevents ...
