The HP TouchPad has had a bit of a rocky ride since its launch back at the beginning of July, with lukewarm reviews and a number of price cuts designed to trigger sales of the tablet. Despite the drop in price, it seems that HP is having quite a bit of trouble moving the TouchPad at retail, as All Things D is reporting that Best Buy is still sitting on over 90 percent of its original stock of the tablet.

Logitech Tablet Speaker for iPad breaks cover

Logitech Tablet Speaker for iPad breaks cover

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

My daughter loves to watch Netflix on the iPad. This is the reason you can’t find any recommendations on my account other than horse movies. She is still very small, there isn’t a set of headphone in the house that fit her little head, and the internal speaker “sucks” according to her. What I and anyone else that thinks that the internal speaker leaves a lot to be desired needs is the new Logitech Tablet Speaker for iPad.

Dell's S2330MX Ultra-Slim monitor makes rival LCDs hit the treadmill

Dell's S2330MX Ultra-Slim monitor makes rival LCDs hit the treadmill

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

Was it really only a month ago that Dell released the remarkably priced U2412M? The folks at Round Rock are already at it again with another impressive widescreen -- the unromantically named (yet impressively thin) S2330MX. Lurking behind the catchy moniker is a 23-inch display (did we mention it's thin?), LED backlighting and a DVI to HDMI adapter. Let's face it, the power cables are gonna be thicker than the monitor -- it's very thin, you see. No word on pricing but, you can order one from tomorrow, August 18th. You can see how excited Scott Bates is in the official announcement video below.

The Black Screen of Death is afflicting some HTC EVO 3D users

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

While the XBox 360 has the "Red Ring of Death" that appears when a unit has bought the farm, it appears that some HTC EVO 3D units have the "Black Screen of Death" that shuts down the phone for good. All of the usual attempts of resuscitation fail as the battery pull, the wall toss and the extra decibel scream shock fail to revive the smartphone, which continues to show nothing more than a black screen after each attempt.

ASUS' next gen Eee Pad Transformer to be first Kal-El device?

ASUS' next gen Eee Pad Transformer to be first Kal-El device?

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

Earlier this year, NVIDIA teased us all with the promise of its forthcoming Kal-El SoC, indicating an August debut. Well, we're currently in the thick of that hot and hazy month with no clear sign of an incoming quad-core tablet, but certainly more release gossip. According to Fudzilla, multiple sources have confirmed ASUS' next Eee Pad Transformer will indeed be first in line to pack four cores, lending credence to Chairman Jonney Shih's claims the tab would be "impressive." Concrete launch details for the slate have yet to be announced, but if Shih's pre-CES timeline pans out, you'll only have four long months to wait for a Glow Ball hands-on.

Samsung may buy firms to counter Google-Motorola deal

Samsung is worried enough that Google's buyout of Motorola might put more control back in the hands of the OS maker that it may buy out companies to compete, according to leaked details from an emergency corporate meeting. Company chair Lee Kun-hee reportedly urged management to improve its software engineer ranks to the point where buying companies might be needed. The Korean executive cast it as a fundamental shift of power in Android that Samsung had to resist, Yonhap said.

Apple adding DisplayPort to iOS devices?

Apple adding DisplayPort to iOS devices?

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

Filed in: Apple

Not content with just building offices in the shape of UFOs, Apple is on the hunt for a "Signal Integrity Manager." That's an engineer who balances the noise that chips and circuit boards emit -- which, if left unchecked could overpower your iOS devices' data signals. Apple is specifically looking for someone with DisplayPort experience (plus ten years general experience and two years leading a small team) to work on future chip development -- like the A6. The move suggests that the standard could be coming in the future, but since the position is still listed, it seems unlikely that we'll see DisplayPort included with the next iPhone / iPad at this point.

Panasonic's PT-AE7000 is its first 3D home theater projector, arrives in September for $3,499

Posted on Aug 17, 2011 by MG3

Panasonic is finally ready to show off its first 3D projector, the PT-AE7000. This LCD beamer is a followup to the PT-AE4000 that debuted back in '09 and while some of the new features are for 3D -- 480Hz transparent LCD panels, integrated IR transmitter to sync the glasses and adjustable settings to tweak the picture at different viewing distances -- it also claims an improved 2D pedigree with a 200 watt lamp, claimed 300,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,000 lumens of brightness. With an MSRP of $3,499 it appears set to continue Panasonic's well-regarded line of midrange home theater projectors, check after the break for the press release with all of the specs.
