Microvision SHOWWX+ HDMI Projector Finally Hits Retail Shelves

Today it was unveiled that the newest projector from Microvision has been seen on retailer’s shelves. The latest model is the SHOWWX+ HDMI, which features 15 ANSI lumens, a 5000:1 contrast ratio, and WVGA (848 x 480) resolution. The specifications seem very similar to previous models, but this version includes a mini HDMI port in addition to a RGB and a component connection as well. The SHOWWX+ HDMI is available for $369.

Panasonic Reduces Price and Extends Warranty of PT-DZ570 Projector Series

Panasonic announced today that they are lowering the retail prices and extending the warranties for their PT-DZ570 Series of projectors. The series includes three projectors, the PT-DZ570U, PT-DW530U, and the PT-DX500U. All of these projectors feature the same DLP display technology, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and 4000 ANSI lumens. The company will be extending the warranty from the original 3 years to a 5 year warranty. Optoma Releases HD8300 and HD3300 Projectors

Optoma has dived deep into the 3D home theater industry recently. Today, the company unveiled two more home theater projectors, the HD8300 and HD3300. Both projectors are fitted with DLP display technology and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The HD8300 is capable of presenting 1500 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, while the HD3300 is a little more powerful with 2000 ANSI lumens and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. Optoma Releases HD33 Projector

Optoma is releasing a new home theater projector this week called the HD33. This is the latest 3D projector to join the home theater lineup and it features 1800 ANSI lumens, a 4000:1 contrast ratio, and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The company is stating that the projector is the very first 3D projector to retail for under $1500. Optoma has also included a new PureMotion 3D feature that reduces judder for both 2D and 3D content. The connection panel also includes dual HDMI ports as well as an assortment of analog ports. The HD33 comes with an IR emitter, but the 3D glasses need to be purchased separately.

Epson Unveils VS410 and VS350W Projectors

Epson is proud to announce today two new low-cost projectors, the VS410 and VS350W. The VS410 is the brighter of the two, featuring a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and 4000 ANSI lumens. The VS350W comes with a widescreen WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution and 3500 ANSI lumens, which is still bright enough for most boardrooms and classrooms. Specifications are limited at this time, but the company did state that both projectors will include a USB port for Plug ‘n Play compatibility. Other features include an E-TORL lamp that lasts 4000 hours, dual 5W speakers, and an A/V Mute Slide. Epson will release these projectors next month for $899 and $949, respectively.

HTC files patent infringement case against Apple

HTC has filed a lawsuit against Apple for allegedly infringing on three patents, the latest in the legal battle raging between the companies.
In a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on Monday, HTC is seeking damages and a ban on sale and importation of infringing Apple products in the U.S., according to court documents. HTC is alleging that Apple is infringing on its patents in a range of products that include Macintosh computers, the iPad, the iPhone, and Apple TV.

Apple Aiming to Eliminate Printer Drivers

Apple has three ways of enabling printing without drivers, with a focus on compact mobile devices. The first is a simple, Google-like cloud-print solution. A second model targets a universal printer access via a discovery protocol and expanded network printing protocol (as well as support for postscript printer description files). The third model relies on traditional printer drivers. The entire concept is described as walkup printing, a term that is already marketed by Xerox.

U.S. Businesses Steaming Over Triple X Domain Fees
Like UnlikeAmerican businesses are scrambling to protect their brand names before .xxx Internet domains launch in December, and the $200ish fee has a few them feeling a bit peeved. What's rubbing them the wrong way is the potential for cybersquatters to cherry pick high profile brand names and turn them into sultry websites. A person could, for example, scoop up Nike.xxx and get creative with the company's "Just Do It" slogan, or Reebok.xxx with its "Life is short, play hard" tagline.

Samsung Releases White Galaxy S II

Samsung has today issued a press release which officially unveils the white version of their popular Galaxy S II. This announcement has been widely expected for awhile already, thus it is not a big surprise. The major specs will be the same as the black version's.
Evidently, the white version will launch in Korea today but global availability is unknown at the moment. Phonesreview.co.uk is claiming September 1st availability in the UK, so global launch should take place within a month or so.

Study: Microsoft's IE 9 Browser Tops at Blocking Socially Engineered Malware

Apparently Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser leads the pack in more ways than just market share. With regards to IE9, socially engineered malware (SEM) barely has a chance of wreaking havoc, according to a study put together by NSS Labs. The study's data has IE9 way out in front of all other browsers tested with a better than 99 percent protection rate.

AMD's Next-Gen Wichita and Krishna APUs Detailed

If there is one spot where information leaks it seems to be donim haber. New slided popped up showing information on AMD's Next-Generation Wichita and Krishna APUs. The new APUs (CPU+GPU) are planned for 2012 and are part of AMDs Deccan low-power solutions.
The products need to be seen and ranged in the same segment as Intel's Atom and VIA's Nano processors. Currently we have the "Zacate" and "Ontario" processors like the E350 filling that job. The future platform will be named "Deccan," and will see two APUs codenamed "Wichita" and "Krishna,".

Hulu Plus comes to WD TV Live Plus, Live Hub players

Western Digital's line of media players have landed the other most important premium streaming video service for a set-top box, Hulu Plus. Now available on the WD TV Live Plus and WD TV Live Hub, the $7.99 mostly TV-filled service plops down to existing offerings including Netflix, Blockbuster, CinemaNow, YouTube and others. Another new addition is thousands radio stations from SHOUTcast, but that's strictly for the WD TV Live Hub. The Hulu Blog promises more devices to come soon, any ideas of places it has yet to land?

Google pays Motorola $2.5 billion if purchase falls through

According to sources reporting to Bloomberg, Google will have to pay Motorola $2.5 billion if its proposed purchase does not get approved and completed. The $2.5 billion break-up fee is six times the usual amount, and is a full 20 percent of the $12.5 billion purchase price that Google announced yesterday.

Swype and Sprint Giving Nexus S Owners an Exclusive

Swype and Sprint today announced that owners of the Samsung Nexus S will be the first to have access to a new version of Swype's Android keyboard starting today. In addition to a newly revised version of the Swype keyboard, the update includes a custom skin, tap correction, horizontal word choice list, personal dictionary management, and shortcut gestures to perform actions such as select all, or launch Google Maps or Twitter. This version of Swype is only for the Sprint Nexus S, though Swype will offer a beta version to other Android handsets soon.

Samsung Hercules, HTC Ruby available from T-Mobile on October 26th?

We knew that the Samsung Hercules and HTC Ruby were both making their way to T-Mobile, and now, it looks like they'll be doing so in tandem. The folks over at Tmo News have obtained a leaked back to school slideshow (pictured above) that pegs the release date for both devices as October 26th, despite earlier murmurs that the Ruby would be hitting shelves in September.
