Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

The proposed setup would enlist a series of storage devices, both remote and local, to act as a virtual hard disk, allowing anything from a set top box to a tablet to boot almost instantaneously. Apple Patents Design of the MacBook Air

Apple Patents Design of the MacBook Air

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

Apple just patented the design of the MacBook Air, which is really the image we imagine when we talk about an Ultrabook.
Patent infringements on ornamental designs are not pursued as often as technology patents, and it is unlikely that Apple would go after Intel as long as the chipmaker is delivering the hardware for its computers, but this patent surely is interesting in the light of Intel's $300 million fund to support the launch of its Ultrabook idea. Could go Apple go after Acer, Asus and Samsung, once those firms are releasing Ultrabooks? Possibly.

Filed in: MotorolaGoogle

Motorola Mobility shareholder John W. Keating has filed a lawsuit accusing Motorola's CEO Sanjay Jha, Motorola's board of directors, and members of Google's board of directors for violating their fiduciary duty by agreeing to a sale price of $12.5 billion. The price, valued at $40 per share, represents a 63% increase over the closing price of Motorola's stock on August 12. Keating says that Motorola's executives did not fetch the best possible price for the company, and that the deal undervalues Motorola. "The offered consideration does not compensate shareholders for the company’s intrinsic value and stand-alone alternatives going forward, nor does it compensate shareholders for the company...
