4.3-inch ZTE Tania unveiled, ZTE’s first Windows Phone Mango handset
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMicrosoftZTEWindows Phone 7.5
The ZTE Tania (codename) is the first Windows Phone Mango handset by Chinese phone maker ZTE and it’s definitely got some looks, but does it match it with potent hardware? The ZTE Tania, unveiled at China International Communications Exhibition 2011, lies just around the mid-range of WP devices, so it doesn’t go into dual-core territory, but it’s still got some decent-looking specs.

Rumor: Samsung Will Cut TV Production by 80 Percent
Like UnlikeFiled in: TVsSamsung
We’ve been consistently impressed with Samsung’s high-end TVs. This year’s 8000 models are especially slick, with crazy thin bezels and outstanding pictures. That’s nice and all, but it doesn’t matter unless all of that turns into sales. Samsung has been losing sales over the last year or so, resulting in an atrocious second quarter. The whole flat-panel market is a bit rough right now and Samsung has announced cuts in TV production, just like LG before them.

Facebook f8 brings groundbreaking changes: goes all-social, all apps will work on mobile devices
Like UnlikeFacebook’s f8 developers’ conference brought some of the biggest news in tech recently: the website is up for its first complete redesign with the new Timeline view of your profile and it’s almost like you’re looking at Tumblr. That’s not all, though, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced social apps, music and media, which would allow you sharing even more information with your friend and... yes, spending even more time on Facebook (if that’s even possible!).

Touch Panel Defects To Affect iPhone 5 Availability?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
While it’s near impossible to say what exactly Apple has in store for us come October, a new report from DigiTimes reveals that there may be fewer iPhone 5s to go around if it indeed makes its debut.
Some of the iPhone 5 touch panels that manufacturer Wintek has assembled are turning out to be defective, and could potentially cause a supply shortage come launch day.

Verizon Mango update also coming on the 27th September
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftVerizon WirelessWindows Phone 7.5
We believe AT&T will roll out the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update on the 27th, and now Verizon customer support appears to suggest the CDMA carrier will be launching the software update on the same day also.
Of course customer service reps are not always the most knowledgeable and accurate in the world, but the 27th seems as likely a day as any to bring all those HTC Trophies up to date.

Denon DNP-720AE does network audio and not much else for $660
Like UnlikeFiled in: AV ReceiversDenonDNP-720AE
The DNP-720AE has been hanging around at trade shows for a while, but it's only just been tagged up with a price. And boy, what a price: £429 ($660) for a stereo box that snatches AirPlay, DLNA, Internet radio, Napster and Last.fm off your WiFi or wired network and outputs to your amp. Sure, it packs a decent 24-bit DAC and will no doubt deliver that sweet Denon sound when added to your stack -- but if you don't already own a bunch of same-brand components then there's plenty of alternatives to consider. To pick a random example, even the ancient and infinitely cheaper Logitech Squeezebox Duet has similar functionality, without AirPlay or DLNA specifically but with basic iTunes compatibility...

Deep within source code hides upcoming quad-core Apple products
Like UnlikeFiled in: Apple
Under layers of source code, the fate of Apple products has been discovered. Right now the fastest processor in an iOS device is Apple’s 1 GHz dual-core A5 chip, which is found in the iPad 2. The company is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 soon — say, October 4th — with that same processor. But Apple has even bigger plans in mind.

HTC Vigor Packs Beats Audio, LTE, But No DROID Branding?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCRezound
Here’s a noodle-scratcher to ponder over the weekend: the HTC Vigor was supposedly going to hit Verizon as the Droid Incredible HD, but files leaked from the forthcoming device hint that the phone may not carry the Droid distinction after all.
Someone who was lucky enough to have a Vigor in their possession managed to rip the device’s boot sequence, wallpapers, and sound files, and shared their findings with AndroidPolice.

Clearwire courting AT&T and Verizon in bid to raise cash for 4G LTE network
Like UnlikeFiled in: Verizon WirelessAT&T
Clearwire is in discussions to sell sell some of its wireless network capacity to Verizon Wireless and AT&T, Bloomberg reported recently. “All those discussions are under way,” Clearwire CEO Erik Prusch told Bloomberg. “I’m confident we’ll bring in new wholesale partners. Our message to the industry is that we’ve got the capacity to handle their needs.” However, it is more likely Clearwire is approaching the carriers in an effort to raise cash for its 4G LTE network plans. On August 3rd, Clearwire announced its intentions to build out a nationwide 4G LTE network but said those plans were “subject to additional funding.” Clearwire needs $600 billion to build its 4G LTE network.

Bad news for WebOS: Meg Whitman is happy with current HP strategy
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsHPwebOS 3.0
For a very short time, we tried to cling to the blind hope that HP's changing of the guard might lead to some good news about WebOS, but it looks like that hope may already be dashed. HP's new CEO, Meg Whitman, has decided that the course set by previous CEO, Leo Apotheker, is as good as any, and that HP will keep on that path.

iPhone 5 Media Event is at Apple Campus on October 4
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Last week AllthingsD broke the rumor that the Apple iPhone 5 Media event takes place on Tuesday, October 4. Today John Paczkowski follows up that rumor with the location of the Apple media event. Apple is supposed to host the event at the Apple Campus and not in downtown San Francisco as usual. All iPhone models and iPads have been unveiled in venues outside of the Apple campus. Why Apple is choosing this time to stay at the Apple Campus is unclear.
It is possible that venues have been booked out or the actual date was still moving until last minute. Tim Cook is expected to host the show. It will be his first big public presentation as Apple CEO.
I am pretty sure he will unveil something st...
