TechRadar has spoken to HTC about the new Android 4.0 release to see when the firm will be updating its phones to the next level of Google's OS.
We expected the Taiwanese firm to be talking up all the new functionality Ice Cream Sandwich will offer, but it's remained strangely non-committal about the new software:
"We are excited about the latest update for Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, and are currently reviewing its features and functionality to determine our upgrade plans," said a spokesperson.
"Our goal for Android updates is to give every customer an improved user experience, which means balancing each phone's unique hardware, HTC Sense experience and the Android kernel."

Like UnlikeFiled in: MotherboardsGIGABYTEG1.Assassin2 (rev. 1.0)
Gigabyte teased us with pictures of its high-end socket LGA2011 motherboard featured in its G1.Killer series of motherboards designed for the gamer-overclocker market. The G1.Assassin 2, as it’s called, is based on the Intel X79 chipset. We don’t have landscape pictures of the board, yet, but whatever little bits of pictures we do have, reveal quite a bit. To begin with, this board will retain the black+green “weapon” styling of predecessors in the series. The LGA2011 socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots, in sets of two, on either sides of the socket. Each DIMM slot has its own memory channel.
From the CPU VRM heatsink, a heat pipe is finding its way to a stylized X79 PCH heatsink. This ...

NVIDIA Tegra 3 teaser video slips out

A teaser video (embedded below) for the forthcoming NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor has leaked out. Codenamed Kal-El, the system-on-a-chip runs a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, which is accompanied by a fifth Cortex A9 core clocked at 500MHz for running tasks such as web browsing and listening to music. ARM Cortex A7: New better, faster, stronger, harder chip
Like UnlikeFiled in: CPU
ARM, the British semiconductor company that designs application processors and defines the instruction set that powers every mobile phone on the market, has just announced the Cortex A7. Before we dive into what makes that chip so special, let’s remind ourselves why ARM is a very unique company. It’s best to think of ARM like an architect. They design blueprints that they then sell to companies like Samsung, Texas Instruments, and Apple, who will then use those blueprints to build what’s called a system on chip. ARM creates the blueprints for many things, but they’re most known for their application processors, such as the ARM Cortex A9 that’s in Samsung’s Exynos 4210 and Apple’s A5, and the...

Ultrabook Makers Turning to Hybrid Storage to Cut Costs
Like UnlikeFiled in: Acer
Ultrabook players were hoping Intel would cut them a break with a juicy 50 percent discount on Core i processors to be used in the new notebook form factor. Intel, having already earmarked millions of dollars towards marketing the Ultrabook concept, scoffed at the idea of half-off CPUs, leaving notebook makers looking for other ways to cut back costs. Hello hybrid storage.
