AT&T iPhone 4S Tops Verizon, Sprint on Data Speeds, Web Browsing
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
With the iPhone 4S now available on three of the four major U.S. carriers, which one is your best option? In a report released Friday, Metrico Wireless found that while each provider has its benefits, AT&T edges out Sprint and Verizon when it comes to speed.
In the wake of the iPhone 4S launch last month, Metrico ran tests on the device across the AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint networks to measure: call performance; voice quality; data performance; Web browsing; and video performance. In all, Metrico performed more than 21,000 Web page downloads, 8,000 data download and upload tests, and made about 6,000 voice calls.

According to Mirrorless Rumors, the new LX camera will be the first to use an "organic sensor." In its announcement about the development of the camera, Fuji stated that the camera will be using a new type of sensor which it promises will outperform current full frame sensors.
Leaked images from the factory, although blurred, seem to reveal a camera which is similar in appearance to the Leica M9.

The short but snappy statement from Paul Amsellem said: "In June 2012, we will have a tablet that runs on Windows 8."

Apple was reportedly close to producing a MacBook Air powered by an AMD Fusion APU. Cupertino even had a working prototype on hand but ultimately canceled the idea last spring, according to SemiAccurate.
Apple was interested in a low power Llano based MacBook Air for the powerful graphics. The system would have lost a little CPU power but the GPU would have been many times faster. But as we know, Apple once again went with an Intel solution – the only question is, why?
As it turns out, AMD wasn’t able to produce enough supply to meet Apple’s high demand. According to multiple sources, SemiAccurate says that even if the deal had panned out, AMD would likely have had to preferentially shift ...

Zelda 3DS special edition set for USA release
Like UnlikeFiled in: Game ConsolesNintendo3DS
It is finally time all you lovers of the Zelda series who’ve put off picking up a Nintendo 3DS for long enough, time for the Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS to hit US shores, complete with black casing, gold accents, and Ocaria of Time 3D right there in the box. Thus far the rumors have been that this would only be an international release – and indeed up until now you’d have had to think about importing one later this month here to the USA, but what we’re hearing today is that both Best Buy and GameStop will be carrying the package come Black Friday. That’s the 25th of November, next week, if you’re keeping track, and we’re guessing you’ll want to get to the store rather early the day before and...

Get Ready For a Massive Orgy of Ultrabooks in 2012
Like UnlikeFiled in: Notebooks
Looks like ultrabooks are the new tablets. Sort of. Remember when CES in 2011 was the show of a zillion slates? CES 2012 could see as many as 50 super-thin, Intel-powered ultrabooks. Wanna take a Scrooge McDuck dive in an ultrabook pool?

Sony Ericsson Vscreens shares media to any device's browser
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsSonyGoogleAndroid 2.1
Sony Ericsson on Friday brought out a beta app that lets an Android device share its media on most bigger screens. Vscreens requires an Android app (Market) but can form a bond to share media with any device on the local Wi-Fi network by scanning a QR code on the screen. The link works on any modern browser and will show photos and videos on the target browser, even on iOS devices or the PS3.
The approach is a way to skip the trouble of requiring both devices on a universal sharing protocol, like DLNA, or else making a physical connection.
Running the app demands at least Android 2.1, but it isn't locked to Sony Ericsson phones.

Verizon leak has Galaxy Nexus with 32 GB of storage
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
This is quickly becoming a case of he said/she said. On Sunday, Google quietly changed the specs on the official Galaxy Nexus website killing the 32 GB LTE option, but a new Verizon leak brings it back to life.
The Verizon training document shows a comparison between Verizon's top 3 LTE phones, and AT&T's only two. Under Verizon's phones are the DROID RAZR, HTC Rezound, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The specs all match up with what we know, but the storage amount listed is 32 GB. So, if we're to believe the Google site, the Nexus will have 16 GB of storage, and this Verizon document is saying 32 GB.
We have no idea who to believe, but it doesn't help Verizon's side with the fact that this doc...

Android's Malware Monopoly Continues: 472% Increase In Android Malware Since July
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid
How about security in new smartphone platforms these days ?? Microsoft’s Windows Phone and Apple’s iPhone situation seems to be much much better than Google’s Android. Why is it so ? Take a look at the recent reports from McAfee and Juniper Networks,
First from Juniper Networks,
“The Juniper Global Threat Center found that the months of October and November are shaping up to see the fastest growth in Android malware discovery in the history of the platform,”
“The number of malware samples identified in September increased by 28 percent over the number of the known Android malware samples. October showed a 110 percent increase in malware sample collection over the previous month and a stri...

Google confirms no Flash in ICS until Adobe updates it
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsGoogleAndroid 4.0
It shouldn't be much of a surprise, because apps often have to be updated to support the newest version of Android before they become available, but Google has confirmed that Flash is not currently supported in ICS.
Those of you in Europe may have already noticed, and theoretically we'll find out soon enough in the States, but Adobe Flash player is not currently supported in Ice Cream Sandwich, and is not available in the Android Market. Even worse, there is no way right now to load up the old version of Flash.

Red DROID Incredible 2 coming on November 24th
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCDROID Incredible 2
Verizon Wireless will soon introduce a red version of the DROID Incredible 2 smartphone. As far as we understood, the new device will hit the stores on November 24th, just when people will start getting crazy, buying all the things they need and don’t need. I admit that red Incredible 2 looks like a perfect gift for smartphone newbies (and folks who don’t care about the high-end features), whereas those with some experience will go for some other Android device from Verizon’s portfolio – like let’s say the DROID Galaxy Nexus or DROID RAZR.

Asus Transformer Prime gets its Smart Cover
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsASUSEee Pad Transformer Prime TF201
Think that the iPad 2 is the only tablet with a smart cover? Think again, with Amazon Germany listing such an accessory for the upcoming Asus Transformer Prime. So aside from the keyboard dock, this will be one of those must-have things to purchase alongside Asus’ Android tablet. The price is 39 EUR, which is roughly $53.
Yeah I know it’s not cheap, but you’ll be glad to know this magnetic folding cover is even smarter than what Apple is selling, supporting both portrait and landscape orientations at a variety of angles. Overall, the Asus Smart Cover seems inspired by an origami sculpture and is way more complex that Apple’s product. Not sure that’s a plus, but I certainly like more options...

Bootloader hack may bring Android dual-boot to Windows Phones
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungFocusOmnia 7
It remains to be seen how desired this is, but work by the Dark Forces Team to port the the MAGLDR bootloader to the Samsung Focus may mean Android dual-boot could be coming to certain Windows Phone 7 handsets.
This would result in a similar situation to the HTC HD2, which it seems has been hacked to run every mobile OS under the sun.
The work is being initially done on the Samsung Focus v1.3, but Cotulla writes that the next version will support the Samsung Focus 1.4 and Samsung Omnia 7 also.

Galaxy S II and Optimus 3D get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ports
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungLGGalaxy S IIOptimus 3D
While the U.S. is still patiently awaiting the official release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, our favorite phone in Android-land at the moment has just received an Ice Cream Sandwich port. That phone would be the Samsung Galaxy S II and there’s even a video to show off that Ice Creamy goodness. To top it off, the LG Optimus 3D has also seen an Android 4.0 port.
Now that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich source code has been unleashed to the world, ports of the latest version of the mobile OS will start to become a normal thing. That said, having ICS on the Galaxy S II must be a real treat, so to speak, but don’t get too excited just yet. Like many new developments of the sort, there’s not a...
