We have got some information on what’s going in Windows Phone team at Microsoft. First of all, Microsoft has set an internal goal to sell about 100 million Windows Phone devices in 2012, which is pretty ambitious. Even the network operators around the world are expecting Windows Phone to make 30% of the smartphone marketshare in 2012. This goal can be attained only if Nokia scale up their Windows Phone production with various models around the world.
Another information we received is around the support of dual core processors in Windows Phones. Even though Microsoft had time to deliver support for multiple cores in Windows Phone Mango, they didn’t deliver it because of the Nokia partnership...

Google: Flash for Ice Cream Sandwich yet to be released

Google: Flash for Ice Cream Sandwich yet to be released

Posted on Nov 22, 2011 by MG1

Update: Adobe has confirmed that it will indeed be releasing Flash Player for ICS.
It said in a statement sent to Pocket-Lint, "Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit -both expected to be released before the end of this year."
And that's your lot - after Android 4.0 support, there will be no more versions of Flash Player built by Adobe, although it will continue to offer "critical bug fixes and security updates".
Google has confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich lacks Flash support and will continue to do so until Adobe makes the necessary updates to the software.

Now, a leaked image of the phone's "Launch Package" shows that the phone will rollout in all channels November 23rd for Direct Fulfillment orders. The in-store release of the Samsung Illusion won't take place until January 12th 2012. No reason has been given for the long period between both launches.
Pricing has not been disclosed yet for the handset, which would not get confused with say, the Samsung GALAXY Nexus. First, there is the 3.5 inch screen with resolution of 320 x 480 with 512MB of RAM aboard. 2GB of native storage is matched by the pre-installed 2GB microSD car...

EU: Millions spent on copyright hasn't cut piracy

EU: Millions spent on copyright hasn't cut piracy

Posted on Nov 22, 2011 by MG1

The European Union's digital agenda commissioner has hit out at digital entertainment, claiming that the millions of pounds spent enforcing rights issues online has only served to make people hate copyright and hasn't cut online piracy.
Speaking at the Forum d'Avignon conference, Neelie Kroes also told delegates that to stem digital piracy, the copyright system needs overhauling.
"Is the current copyright system the right and only tool to achieve our objectives? Not really, I'm afraid," she said.
"We need to keep on fighting against piracy, but legal enforceability is becoming increasingly difficult; the millions of dollars invested trying to enforce copyright have not stemmed piracy."

Adding to AT&T's earlier headache, a wireless data outage in the Northeastern part of the U.S., the company is emailing some of its customers to inform them of an "organized and systemic" hack attempt that was made on customer accounts. The company further states "we do not believe that the perpetrators of this attack obtained access to your online account or any of the information contained in that account." AT&T spokesperson Mark Siegel said that less than one percent of the company's customers were affected and that no accounts were breached. He also stated that AT&T would continue to investigate to determine the source of the attack.

Amazon is kicking off the holiday shopping season early by offering multiple, high-end smartphones for a penny when you sign up for a new, two-year contract. Additionally, if you get a phone with a hotspot and activate it, then you can get a $100 Amazon gift card.
We’re not talking about junk smartphones either, as you can get the recently-released Droid Razr for just a penny. In our full review, we were a little disappointed with the battery life but found the design to be striking and the device is packed with all the features you’d like in a modern smartphone.
If that’s not your style, you can also pick up the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic Touch 4G for a penny as well. We absolutely love this...

Samsung GALAXY Nexus to launch December 8th in Canada; pre-orders start today

Posted on Nov 22, 2011 by MG1

Reports that the Samsung GALAXY Nexus is going to launch December 8th are right on the money. That is, if you live in Canada. Of course, in the U.S. a number of dates have been bandied about with December 8th being one of them. The first Ice Cream Sandwich flavored phone (sounds delicious, doesn't it?) will be available north of the border from Bell, which is charging $160 with a signed three year contract. The carrier is accepting pre-orders for the device starting today.
Bell is using a "Twitter line" that will be open from 10 am to 10 pm Eastern time on December 1st. The first 100 people on the line will be guaranteed the opportunity to buy the phone and have it shipped on December 8th. B...

Android 4.0 keyboard now available for older versions

Android 4.0 keyboard now available for older versions

Posted on Nov 22, 2011 by MG1

The Galaxy Nexus is almost here, but even if you're not in the market for a new phone you can sate your Ice Cream Sandwich appetite a little thanks to an XDA developers user, who extracted the keyboard application from Android 4.0 and made it available as a free download for Android 2.2 and 2.3. It's not the full 4.0 experience — voice input isn't working, and not all languages were ported over — but the keyboard's improved autocorrection, new look and feel, and a few other features came over in the transfer. We installed the keyboard on a Droid X2 running Gingerbread, and it activated and worked seamlessly.

Samsung Exynos 4412 SoC to be quad-core?

Samsung Exynos 4412 SoC to be quad-core?

Posted on Nov 22, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: Samsung

Samsung recently announced the dual-core Exynos 4212, a low-power, more efficient successor to the SoC powering its Galaxy S II line of phones, and now there's indication that there could be a quad-core Exynos on the way. It's just been discovered that a line of code was added in October to the Linux Samsung kernel tree to support the "new EXYNOS4412 SoC" which has an "ARM Cortex A9 quad-core" aboard. Although we don't have any further confirmation at this time, there's little doubt Samsung is preparing a quad-core chip of some sort to compete with the Tegra 3 SoC which will be featured on the forthcoming Asus Transformer Prime and several other rumored tablets and smartphones.

Vizio's M-Series Theater 3D TVs are officially available, at last

Posted on Nov 21, 2011 by MG15

Last CES Vizio announced a slew of new LCD HDTVs with its passive glasses-compatible Theater 3D capabilities and Vizio Internet Apps built in, and now it's finally ready to announced the M-series midrange lineup is shipping nationwide. M3D models in various 40- and 50-inch sizes have been popping up over the last few weeks, featuring edge LED backlighting for between $1,039 (42-inch) and $1,649 (55-inch). Need something bigger on your wall? There's also a 65-inch version on the way in 2012, with a pricetag of $2,099. As usual, Vizio's displays bring a rather complete line of features without an ultra-high price tag, but there'd be more reasons to share the included four pairs of 3D glasses w...

A breakdown of the apps submitted over the past 30 days shows that games comprise only 15 percent of apps submitted, while 68 percent of all apps were free, 23 percent paid, and 9 percent paid with a free trial.

Apple iPad 3 to be slightly thicker, iPhone 5 longer so as to accommodate a 4" display

Posted on Nov 21, 2011 by MG15

Welcome, new season of leaks about the next iDevices, we've hardly had reruns of the last one. And so it goes - the iPad 3 we've heard ad nauseam about already, is now rumored to be slightly thicker than iPad 2, in order to accommodate the twin LED light bars needed for the high-resolution display, which was supposedly the culprit for its delays. This one is supposed to come in March the latest, and supposedly announced as soon as January, if its screen makers LG, Samsung and Sharp get their ducks in a row on time.

Nvidia CEO: $299 Tegra 3 Tablet to Become Reality in Six Months

Posted on Nov 21, 2011 by MG15

Filed in: TabletsnVIDIA

So far what is the biggest threat to the iPad’s largely unchallenged supremacy in the tablet market? The answer has certainly got to be Amazon's Kindle Fire, which sports a very enticing $200 price tag. Even though the Kindle Fire is probably the only non-iPad tablet to have generated iPad-like buzz, it's not the only affordable tablet on the market. The ranks of sub-$300 tablets are constantly swelling. And if NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang is right, soon there will be a number of Tegra 3 tablets in this price range.

But exactly how soon, you ask? Well, in a couple of quarters according to Huang. He made this claim while talking to media persons in New York on Friday. Apparently, he was in a mo...

Issues have been resolved in Windows 7 with Rage, Far Cry 2, Homefront, and DC Universe Online, though issues still remain for Crossfire users with particular configurations and in particular games (Battlefield 3 and Skyrim among them).
