Microsoft teases 5 "must-have" games coming to Windows Phone in February

Microsoft’s Windows Phone already has a solid collection of over 55,000 apps, but users are always looking for new and better apps, and this February Redmond promises five “must have” titles will be coming to its mobile platform.

The new additions to WP’s Xbox LIVE collection include shooters, action and driving games for all tastes. Along with those new releases, Nokia has also said it’s collaborating with EA to bring 20 of its titles to the platform, so if you have a Nokia Windows Phone you’d get even more gaming action.

The market for routers is pretty well established at this point, but that isn’t stopping companies from trying to build in new features to get you to upgrade. D-Link’s newly announced routers are looking to connect you in a variety of ways, and at a variety of price points. The company is offering up a low-cost cloud router, a pricey media-enabled option, and more networking goodies.
The DIR-605L is being billed as the first sub-$50 802.11n router with cloud services built-in. Kodak has announced that it’s suing Apple and HTC for infringing on four of its digital imaging patents. It also claims HTC to be infringing on a fifth image preview patent, which is already at the center of an ongoing case that Kodak has lodged against Apple and RIM. This latest suit was filed today with the US International Trade Commission and in a New York district court.
The lawsuit claims that Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod as well as HTC’s smartphones and tablets use image transmission technology that infringe on Kodak’s patents, which it has already licensed to over 30 companies, including Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Nokia. Google's great at finding pretty much anything on the Web—no matter how obscure—but has generally lacked social content thanks to itsongoing standoff with Facebook. Sony is announcing today at CES a brand new prototype that will revolutionize the LED HDTV industry. The TV uses the same LED technology that’s used in the giant LED screens that are found in stadiums and billboards. The device replaces pixels for LEDs in order to create what Sony is calling the Crystal LED Display. The screen measures 55 inches, diagonally and includes over 6 million miniature LED lights. This technology replaces the old design where several LED lamps were used as a backlight to an LCD panel. The Crystal LED Display is designed create better contrast, color, and a wider viewing angle. Audyssey, a company usually preoccupied with something related to audio, is announcing two snippets of news here at the 2012 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show. First off, the outfit's unveiling its Audyssey Tuning System (ATS), which is said to "dramatically reduce the time and cost associated with the EQ process." So far as we can tell, it'll enable makers of TVs, laptops, automobiles and just about everything else to use this stuff to fine-tune sound to the specifications they need, and we're told to expect ATS-designed products to hit the market in the middle of the year. After lighting things up with new PCs and a 10-inch tablet, Vizio is returning to its roots by unveiling a series of new HDTVs during CES, along with a few old ones. Among its more conventional sets, the E3D series has been bringing value priced passive 3D since last year, but it will be joined by the M3D series in a 47- and 55-inch model, the latter of which includes a Bluetooth QWERTY remote. If that's not enough, users can step up to the R3D series which come in the same sizes and have better backlighting.

BenQ's XL2420T and XL2420TX gaming LCDs have been around the block a time or two, but the outfit's taking advantage of this week's Consumer Electronics Show to launch 'em both here in North America. The range is available across quite a few screen sizes (17-, 19-, 21.5-, 22-, 23- and 24-inch), with pricing hitting around the $500 to $600 mark. A bit pricey at first blush, but what'd you really expect for a monitor that's certified as NVIDIA 3D Vision 2-ready? Exactly.

Sony exec Kazuo Hirai has once again said that the PlayStation 3 game console would live out its projected 10-year lifespan, staying on store shelves for another 5 years. However, rumors have been circling that the company has been working on a next-gen console, which could be unveiled at this year’s E3 conference.
Early last year, Hirai was asked a similar question and had reinforced the point that the PlayStation 3 would be here to stay until its end of life. Reddit has announced that it will be staging a twelve hour blackout in protest of SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act, with visitors to the crowd-curated site on January 18 presented with a call to arms against the proposed legislation. From 8am to 8pm EST next wednesday, Reddit will be showing a message pointing out how the site could be affected should SOPA be passed into law, along with links to resources and possible ways to take action.

Plextor has announced the M3 Pro SSD series over at CES, that improve upon the specs of the M3 SSD series introed by the company in the first part of December 2011.
The M3 Pro series SSDs use the regular 2.5-inch form factor, but with a new 7mm thin profile, and will be released in three capacities providing 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage space. At the heart of the solid state drives stands Marvell’s 88SS9174 SATA 6Gbps controller which is paired together with toggle NAND Flash memory built by Toshiba using the 24nm fabrication process.
