Now carriers like AT&T and Verizon have become so worried about clogging up their pipelines that they are even thinking about ways to charge Netflix for the bandwidth used by users of its app. Netflix has tried to make things easier for its iOS using fans by adding a Wi-Fi only option in an update to the app.

Just because it has no “Ericsson” in its name, that doesn’t mean Sony has forgot about its existing Sony Ericsson customers. Quite the contrary, the company is rolling out firmware updates for select devices wearing both names as we speak.
The select devices are Xperia arc and Xperia neo, which users have reportedly started receiving their servings of Ice Cream Sandwich. The phones will be updated to Android 4.0.4 and will remain on kernel 2.6.32.

Purported design schematics for the next iPhone have emerged, confirming what the leaked parts yesterday showed, namely an opening for a display that is roughly 4" in size.
Back-of-the-napkin calculations from the engineering blueprint return about 7mm taller and slightly wider front panel part than what we have now, which is not much at all, and certainly preferable than increasing the width too much and messing up with one-handed operation.

Leap Wireless announced that it’s wholly owned subsidiary Cricket Wireless will begin offering the iPhone sans-contract on June 22nd. As you are undoubtedly well aware, going the pre-paid route will require you to purchase the device at full retail price, though Cricket is offering a slight discount over what you’d pay at the Apple store. Customers looking for the 16GB iPhone 4S will expect to shell out $499.99 for the device. The 8GB iPhone 4 will retail for $399.99.

Digital piracy: BSA study 2011 finds 57% of people steal software

The Business Software Alliance, a software industry lobbyist group dedicated to combating digital piracy, released its ninth annual Global Software Piracy Study earlier this month. For the first time, the new edition of the trade group’s report includes the results of a survey involving 15,000 computer users from 33 countries around the world where respondents were directly asked, “How often do you acquire pirated software or software that is not fully licensed?”

Team Group Announces First 3GHz DDR3 Memory Modules

Google this week announced a second generation Chromebook model from Samsung, the Series 5 550, which dispenses with the previous generation Chromebook's Atom N570 processor and replaces it with a dual-core Celeron B867 chip sporting Sandy Bridge DNA. That's well and good if you're into Chromebooks, except that companies like Asus and HTC aren't tripping over themselves trying to launch second generation Chromebook models of their own.
