A spacious 4.8-inch 1080p HD display will consume the front of the phone, and with a 16:9 aspect ratio, it’ll be stunning for entertainment. Like UnlikeFiled in: AT&T
AT&T has been making news all over MWC in the past couple of days. The most recent report from The Wall Street Journal says that Ma Bell is planning a service that will enable app devs and other content providers to pay the carrier for subscriber's data usage. AT&T's head of network and technology said today that "A feature that we're hoping to have out sometime next year is the equivalent of 800 numbers that would say, if you take this app, this app will come without any network usage." Donovan goes on to say that interest is swirling from companies that offer services like streaming music and video that feed on a steady diet of data and that the carrier's rollout of LTE would make the new ...

Google has built a "firewall" between Android team and Motorola
Like UnlikeFiled in: MotorolaGoogle
There has been a constant bit of concern from the Android community that Google would give an unfair advantage to Motorola after the acquisition went through. And, although there is almost no reason to believe that this will actually happen, or that if it were to happen that Google wouldn't do something really good with it, the fears over this concern have been continually played upon by Google's rivals.
Of course, Google and Eric Schmidt have continually said that Motorola would be kept separate and run as if it were an independent company. The recent news that Google would be installing its own CEO to replace Motorola's former-CEO Sanjay Jha again made some scared, even though such a move...

The iPad 3 is expected to feature a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536-pixel Retina Display along with a faster quad-core Apple A6 processor, embedded 4G LTE, an upgraded rear camera and a redesigned case. There is no question that the new iPad will be a significant upgrade compared to the current model, but not everyone needs the latest and greatest. For those willing to forgo the added speed, embedded LTE and HD display, Best Buy is now offering $50 off every iPad 2 model it carries. Of course buying the iPad 2 now at a $50 discount is a risky move — a number o...

EPIC really, REALLY wishes the FTC would review Google's pending privacy policy update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
ere we go again. As we’ve reported previously (and as you surely know from web ads) Google is retooling its privacy policies, merging more than five dozen different privacy policy statements into a single one that is simpler to read. They’ve been aggressive about trying to get people to actually read what’s in it, and the long and short of it is they aren’t changing your settings or changing what sort of data is shared beyond Google, the only significant change is that your data within Google products will now be shared with other Google products you use – so trying to find friends on YouTube will be easier because they can leverage your contacts data to help you auto-complete a search form....

Gorilla Glass 2 to be in devices starting April or May
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell Phones
Back at CES, we finally got a look at Corning's Gorilla Glass 2, which is promised to have the same strength, scratch resistance, and impact resistance, but at 20% thinner than the original Gorilla Glass. This means that devices would have the same protection from screen damage, but will be able to be thinner overall or will have extra space for bigger batteries (which is probably a better option in our opinion.)
Today, Corning announced that it expects Gorilla Glass 2 to start making it into devices by April or May of this year, so we should be able to see soon enough whether manufacturers want to keep making devices thinner (which seems a bit unnecessary at some point) or uses the extra s...

Apple scores a victory over Motorola in German patent case
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleMotorola
Apple on Monday won a ruling over Motorola Mobility in a German appeals court over a recent patent infringement suit, reports Bloomberg. The Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court ruled in Apple’s favor, stating that Motorola cannot further enforce its standard-essential patent injunction against the Cupertino-based company. The ruling allows Apple to continue to offer its products in its online store while it appeals a ruling that temporarily banned the company’s iPhone and iPad. “At the current state of the proceedings, it is to be assumed that Motorola Mobility would violate its duties under antitrust rules if it continues to ask Apple to stop the sales,” the court said in a statement.
