Originally filed in the halcyon days of 2010, the United States Patent and Trademark Office has just published a web browser-centric patent application from the fine folks in Redmond. Microsoft's "Branded Browser Frame" app details a "computer-readable storage media" that can be specifically executed (presumably by surfing over to a website that's capable of handling said execution), and then used to present a varying interface based on what the underlying instructions are telling it to do. As leaked earlier in the week, PayPal has unveiled its own direct equivalent to Square's reader. PayPal Here's triangular reader lets anyone with an iPhone take card payments and, as expected, PayPal payments. It claims an edge over Square in sheer variety of payment types, supporting options like debit cards, manually entered or scanned card info, and even check scanning in the US.

The latest J.D. Power smartphone satisfaction survey results are out, and Apple’s iPhone has again clinched the US top spot for its people-pleasing abilities, its seventh win in a row. The iPhone was particularly praised for its ease of operation and feature-set, scoring 839 out of a possible 1,000 points with a lead of 41 ahead of HTC in second place. Meanwhile, battery life has shown itself to be one of the biggest factors in smartphone satisfaction, with solid runtimes leading to greater brand loyalty.

Hulu updates web UI with larger video player, new layout

Having recently introduced the "floating touch" Xperia Sola that doesn't require your hands to make contact with the display, the next logical step is to make the whole thing controlled just with the movement of your head. Michael Dell said that he would offer an enterprise tablet "on the exact day" that Windows 8 ships to customers, but his company may have some competition right out of the gate: We've learned that Lenovo is internally planning to be the very first manufacturer to release a Windows 8 tablet, and that the company believes that October is when the operating system will ship. InFocus is a digital display technology and visual collaboration champion. Today, the company unveiled the latest additions to their IN120 series, the IN122 and IN124. Both projectors feature 3200 ANSI lumens, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and DLP display technology. The only major difference is that they come with SVGA (800 x 600) and XGA (1024 x 768) resolutions, respectively. Both projectors have been fitted with 3D capabilities and come with the new HDMI 1.4 input. Via keeps battling Intel and AMD even as its x86 chip market share shrinks further

While Intel and AMD battle for the top two spots in the x86 microprocessor market, the third player, Via Technologies, saw a slip in its already-marginal market share, but it isn't ready to fold, research firm IDC said on Thursday.
Worldwide x86 processor shipments during the fourth quarter last year totaled 96.9 million, and Via's x86 shipments totaled only 80,000 units, IDC said. In the previous year's fourth quarter, Via had a market share of 0.3 percent and shipped 310,000 x86 PC processors.

Turns out the Linux-based operating system that claimed to be the work of Anonymous could have nothing to do with the well-known hacktivist group. Word about the Anonymous OS started doing the rounds earlier this week with reports pointing to a Tumblr account for the operating system. The page had Anonymous literally written all over it and the 'about' page on the blog said the OS was created for educational purposes to check the security of web pages. It also warned users not to use it to attack any website and signed off with Anonymous' traditional "We are Anonymous, we are legion..." signature.

Broadband Bandwidth Demand to Jump 10X by 2015

Diablo III Coming on May 15

Physically, the miniature device keeps the same form factor as its siblings save for the purple splash on its base -- much like a color-flipped LT.
