Motorola stockholders to discuss Google acquisition on November 17
Like UnlikeFiled in: MotorolaGoogle
Motorola has announced a special meeting for its stockholders to discuss the proposed purchase of the company by Google that was announced back in August. The meeting will be held on November 17, and the stockholders will vote on whether to adopt the proposal at that time. Google announced its intent to buy Motorola Mobility earlier this year for the sum of $12.5 billion. Motorola faced a lawsuit shortly after that by a stockholder who claimed that the purchase price was not the best that Motorola could have gotten from Google.

Motorola launches two advanced Bluetooth headsets - ELITE SLIVER and ELITE FLIP
Like UnlikeFiled in: HeadphonesMotorolaELITE SLIVERELITE FLIP
Motorola unveiled two new Bluetooth accessories – ELITE SLIVER and ELITE FLIP, touting them as the “world’s most advanced” headsets. While we’re not sure we agree with this bold statement, we do realize these two rock NFC technology, allowing for super easy pairing with other NFC-enabled mobile devices like the Google Nexus S or Nokia N9.
The first of the two headsets rocks a discrete design, while also offering more than twice as much talk time as the leading competitors. Together with its charging case, the ELITE SLIVER enables autonomy of up to 15 hours of talk time, which is pretty impressive.
As for the Motorola ELITE FLIP, it features the TrueComfort design that lets users choose the m...

Motorola teaser counts down to ICS event date, ends a few hours early
Like UnlikeFiled in: Motorola
Motorola just unleashed a countdown clock for its Daft Punk-esque tease: Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger. We already knew the Spyder was on its way, but we noticed that the clock stops dangerously close to the Google / Samsung Ice Cream Sandwich event set for this Tuesday, missing the mark by only seven hours. We can't say for sure that Motorola is trying get in on the Google magic, but if it wants to push its news during the same business day, it makes sense for them to reveal their goods ahead of the event's 10pm showtime. The teaser's epileptic flash of buzzword images doesn't tell us much, but it ends with a speedy bullet smartly slicing through the event date. Hit the break to see fo...

Motorola LAPDOCK 100 turns select Moto smartphones into laptops
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONICPHOTON 4GATRIX 2
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the moment when smartphones are beginning to replace laptop computers. The newly unveiled Motorola LAPDOCK 100 connects to select Moto smartphones effectively turning them into laptops.
To be fair, we’ve already seen something similar in the past with Celio REDFLY products, which worked with Windows Mobile devices, providing users with big screen and big keyboard. This time, however, we’re talking about an Android-based solution and we’re hoping other handset manufacturers and/or third-party accessory makers will release more of such “docks” that sing along an array of smartphones.
The Motorola LAPDOCK 100 weighs 2.2lbs (less than 1Kg) and works...

Motorola Spyder and Xoom 2 turn up in more leaked shots
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesTabletsMotorolaXOOM 2DROID RAZR
We've already seen Motorola's new Xoom 2 tablet(s) and Spyder smartphone (otherwise known as the Droid HD) turn up in a few leaked shots, and we've now received a handful more that are said to show both devices in their near final form. That includes a Verizon logo on both the front and back of the Spyder for the first time (though that's not exactly unexpected), and the Xoom 2 (the 8.2-inch version in this case) is said to be in "better shape" than the earlier prototypes, which had apparently been suffering from some rather serious bugs. As you can see above, the Spyder also has what appears to be a slightly more tactile back, which could well be the Kevlar coating that's been rumored for t...

Motorola, Verizon holding special event Oct. 18 - Droid Razr?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessDROID RAZR
Verizon and Motorola have a strong relationship, as Moto was the first handset to kick off the uber-popular Droid lineup and the two companies are teaming up again for a special event Oct. 18. The invitation doesn’t give away much but we’re expecting some nice hardware.
The invitation simply says, “Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger.” on it and if I were betting dollars to doughnuts, I’d say we’re going to see the Droid Razr. Most of you out there should remember how cool the original Motorola Razr was (at least the design) but the rumors on the new one suggest we’re in for a treat.
While we probably won’t get the clamshell design, we should be getting a Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), a qHD sc...

Well what do you know, Verizon and Motorola are preparing to launch an update for the Droid X2. We’ve no idea when that will exactly happen — as far as I know you may be getting it while reading this — but since the update already got a dedicated page at Verizon’s website (PDF file is here), I assume this will happen sooner rather than later.

November 3rd pegged as launch date for Google Nexus Prime; Verizon pumped about DROID RAZR
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessGoogleGALAXY NexusDROID RAZR
Last month, we reported about a source for Droid-Life who calls himself the Panda King. The "King" had passed along word that the eagerly awaited debut of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android build would be launched via Verizon on November 3rd with the release of the Google Nexus Prime. Today, a source for Phandroid who is considered to be an Verizon "insider" confirmed that date as well. This means we can expect an introduction of the device to take place fairly soon.
At the same time, this source said that Verizon has high hopes for both the Google Nexus Prime and the Motorola DROID RAZR. Comparing the two, the source says the word he is getting is that the Nexus Prime has...

AT&T starts CTIA off right by introducing five new smartphones to its Android lineup
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungMotorolaPantechAT&TATRIX 2Captivate GlideDoubleTimePocketAvail
At CTIA last March, AT&T stole the show by announcing its intent to purchase T-Mobile US. This time around the news is a bit more modest, but the company is still hoping to give us a bit of a shock by introducing a litany of new handsets right on time for the holiday season. The carrier promised the release of 12 Android devices throughout the course of the year, and this week's announcement pushes the 2011 running count to 19. Not too shabby. Naturally, we're looking for quality more than quantity, so we couldn't wait to dig into the devices that are coming out. Check out all five after the break, along with a quick video teaser.

Motorola Xoom Family Edition pops up at retail sporting kid-friendly software
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsMotorolaXOOM
Now that Motorola's Xoom is ready to rock out on 4G LTE connections, the only thing missing from the original 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet is a nice suite of edutainment software... wait, what? Whether or not that's what you asked for, it appears to be what Motorola's giving you judging by this "Family Edition" branded Xoom that just showed up at a big box electronics store. While there's still no hint of the subwoofer-equipped Xoom 2 Media Edition that's been rumored, this model is differentiated by the addition of a Kid Mode with $40 of software for kids from Zoodles (trailer after the break) packed-in. We don't have a release date or official pricing yet, but we'd expect to see the MZ505 on...
