Motorola Pro+ 4G rides into Canada November 7th, will kick off shoes and stay a while
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPRO+
We knew it was planning to grace Europe and Asia with its presence this month, but now we're hearing the Motorola Pro+ 4G is ready to make its North American debut at Bell Canada. We're not seeing any large differences here compared to the overseas model, though the addition of "4G" to the title is an obvious exception. The device offers a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, Android 2.3, a 5MP camera, 3.1-inch VGA (640 x 480) display with Gorilla Glass, HSPA 14.4 (hence the "4G" name) and a lot of Enterprise-friendly security features. We know it'll be hitting shelves on November 7th, but no price has been announced so far. To find out the full shebang, head south for the press release.

Motorola XOOM 2 appears in Verizon system with LTE
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsMotorolaVerizon WirelessXOOM 2
It appears as though Motorola doesn’t want to make the same mistake twice as a screenshot of the Verizon inventory system shows the unannounced XOOM 2 tablet with 4G LTE connectivity built-in and internal memory capacities up to 64GB.
The original Motorola XOOM only had access to Verizon’s 3G network and was sold with the promise that users could send it in to Motorola in the future to upgrade the device. This hardware upgrade was to make it compatible with LTE. However it took much longer than many owners would’ve liked. When the LTE upgrade was finally made available, the XOOM was already heading towards obsolete status.
Shipping the original XOOM without LTE out of the box was a mistake...

Motorola DROID 4 appears...with LTE support
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 4
With the Motorola DROID 3 just a few months old, it seems too early to even think about the Motorola DROID 4. But sure enough, Droid-Life obtained some pictures of the next version of Motorola's DROID series. This time, the device is said to feature LTE support and a 4" Super AMOLED screen (probably Super AMOLED Advanced, such as the one in the DROID RAZR).
Also, the Motorola DROID 4 will have a non-removable battery, unlike what we heard from a source earlier, and MotoACTV syncing. The rest of the specs seem familiar such as the 5 row QWERTY keyboard, 1080p video capture, back and front-facing cameras, HDMI out. The version of Android installed is a little more current at 2.3.5. Think Motor...

Verizon Wireless has informed us that it has begun pushing out Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware updates for two of its Motorola smartphones. The DROID Pro and the global version of the DROID 2 are the lucky recipients. Users can download the update by going into the Settings section of their phones and heading to About Phone and then System Updates.
Among the improvements that users of both devices can expect are improved battery monitoring and power management, multi-touch keyboard support, the Gingerbread download manager, and a new user interface and color scheme.

Motorola RAZR says hi to FCC with AT&T radios on board; Motorola XOOM 2 also visits?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesTabletsMotorolaAT&TXOOM 2RAZR
The Motorola RAZR has made it past the FCC and inside it carried radios tuned to AT&T's frequencies. But before you AT&T customers start getting excited, the frequencies are also used by many Canadian carriers and it is expected that the Motorola RAZR will be heading across the border after it is launched by Verizon. The shared bands are GSM 850/1900 and WCDMA Bands II/V for 3G.
No one is ruling out an AT&T variant of the Motorola DROID RAZR as it would make sense for the Schaumberg based company to spread its flagship phone to as many carriers as possible. This is the MO that Samsung has used quite well with its Galaxy line of smartphones. Of course, AT&T has not uttered a word yet and nei...

Motorola XOOM to get ICS, but no definite timeline for update
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsMotorolaXOOM
It's one of the more annoying aspects of the Android ecosystem, but one we must live with. Even if a device is less than a year old, we don't feel comfortable that it will get the newest update unless the manufacturer explicitly says so. Recently, HTC has confirmed that it will bring ICS to "as many" devices as possible, but that isn't much solace. On the other hand, Motorola has confirmed the update will come to the Bionic and RAZR at the very least. Now, it's looking more likely the XOOM will get the update, but we can't say when.
A source from the Motorola support message boards, which Engadget claims is a very reliable source, has confirmed that the Motorola XOOM will be getting the ICS...

Motorola RAZR open for unlocked bootloader business, if the carrier says so
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaRAZR
Promises, promises. Motorola wasn't exactly fibbing when it said all future phones would ship with unlockable bootloaders, as it appears they will. There's just one teensy obstacle impeding the joy of ROM flashers worldwide: it's up to the carriers' discretion to keep it that way. In a chat with AusDroid, Moto's VP of Enterprise Mobile Devices, Christy Wyatt, revealed that the RAZR would indeed be the OEM's first device to ship with a software unlock. Unfortunately, as in the case of the DROID variant, operators like Verizon have chosen to put the smack down on any custom hackery, citing the typical concerns over security. But it's not all grey wireless skies, the handset's global version wi...

Samsung Stratosphere, Motorola Droid RAZR to be first Verizon LTE phones with Micro SIMs?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungMotorolaVerizon WirelessStratosphereDROID RAZR
Looks like Verizon's got a hardware-crush on teensy 3FF Micro SIMs. The carrier's two latest 4G handsets, Samsung's Stratosphere and Motorola's Droid RAZR, both appear to make do with the diminutive cards. Neither, however, would be the first, as that honor was bestowed upon the carrier's version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. If you're eager to call one of these devices your own, but already sport Big Red's LTE service, then get set to bust out the scissors for a little SIM card arts and crafts. Further pictorial proof of these itsy, bitsy modules awaits you at the source.

Motorola DROID BIONIC to get Ice Cream Sandwich update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleDROID BIONICAndroid 4.0
It is hard to believe that after all of those months that Verizon customers were eagerly waiting, the Motorola DROID BIONIC could be wiped out by the announcement of the upcoming Motorola DROID RAZR. Many owners of the DROID BIONIC feel slighted after Motorola showed off the extremely thin and sexy design of the DROID RAZR, not to mention the Super AMOLED display that does away with the often criticized pentile display found on the older of the two DROID models. And the Motorola DROID RAZR will be a little faster with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor under the hood.

Ice Cream Sandwich for Motorola DROID RAZR landing in early 2012
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleDROID RAZRAndroid 4.0
Motorola’s senior vice president of portfolio and product management Alain Mutricy confirmed on Wednesday that the DROID RAZR, announced Tuesday for Verizon Wireless, will receive an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update early next year. Mutricy explained that the phone was designed to run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which will be installed when it hits the market, but that Motorola has already created a time frame for an Android 4.0 roll-out, Pocket-lint said. Without support for NFC, however, features such as Android Beam will not be operational. The DROID RAZR is equipped with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a large Super AMOLED Advanced display with a qHD resolution, an 8-megapixel camera a...

Motorola outs SF-series runner-ready headsets
Like UnlikeFiled in: HeadphonesMotorolaSF500SF700
In conjunction with its launch of the MOTOACTIV MP3 player and fitness tracker, Motorola has unveiled three headsets that work with any device. The baseline SF200 headset provides listening and talking, while the mid-range model adds heart monitoring. The top of the line carries Bluetooth wireless. All three headsets are compatible with most smartphones for audio listening and many phone fitness apps.
The SF200 is a basic wired stereo smartphone headset. It incorporates 13mm dynamic drivers and acoustic porting for improved bass response. The SF500 model adds its mentioned heart-rate monitor into the playback control. Pushing a button on it will provide an audible readout or send the data to...

Motorola DROID RAZR announced!
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID RAZR
Motorola today finally announced the hot smartphone we've been hearing about lately - the Motorola DROID RAZR for Verizon Wireless! But is there something to make this device special, besides its epic name? You bet!
The DROID RAZR seems to be the thinnest smartphone yet, at just 7.1mm - so we guess that makes it "razr thin" then. However, you should keep in mind that characteristic "hump" near the upper side, which houses the 8MP camera, capable of 1080p video recording. Other specifications of the device are pretty much what we expected - a 4.3" qHD screen of the Super AMOLED Advanced type, as well as a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. Obviously, Moto seems to have done some tremendous work with...

Motorola PHOTON 4G updated with Google Talk video chat, Lapdock support and more
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPHOTON 4G
Almost missed this… Sprint and Motorola released the update for the PHOTON 4G. Software version 45.3.6.enUS adds sooo much on the table, including Google Talk video chat, proximity sensor bug fix, enhancements of pictures taken in panorama mode, and the introduction of international roaming 3G UMTS hotspot functionality for a single Wi-Fi enabled device. In addition — and this is where it becomes really cool — the new update also brings support for Lapdock 100, you know that Motorola accessory that effectively turns your PHOTON 4G (and few other compatible smartphones) into a laptop computer. Now that’s I’m thinking, the only reason I would grab a Motorola smartphone today is to be able to u...
