GIGABYTE's first and only GeForce GTX 670 graphics card is the GV-N670OC-2GD, a non-reference design graphics card that implements the company's popular WindForce 3X cooling solution, coupled with its UltraDurable VGA+ PCB. While the PCB layout appears to be identical to that of NVIDIA reference design GeForce GTX 680, it is backed by GIGABYTE exclusives such as 2 oz copper PCB layers, electrical ripple control, tier 1 GDDR5 memory chips, ferrite core chokes, low RDS (on) MOSFETs, and Japanese solid-state capacitors.

KFA2, Galaxy's European brand, launched two new GeForce GTX 680 graphics card models today, the GTX 680 EX OC Series, and the GTX 680 Limited Edition OC. The two are essentially re-brands of Galaxy GTX 680 GC and Galaxy GTX 680 Hall of Fame, respectively. Pictured below, the GTX 680 EX OC will be available in 2 GB and 4 GB variants, will pack clock speeds of 1110 MHz (core base), 1176 MHz (core boost), and 6.00 GHz memory; and will utilize an in-house design dual-fan cooling solution.

HIS launched its newest custom-design Radeon HD 7770 graphics card, the HD 7770 IceQ X iTurbo X. The card comes with factory-overclocked speeds of 1170 MHz core, and 1250 MHz (5.00 GHz effective) memory, against AMD reference speeds of 1000/1125 MHz (core/memory). Based on the 28 nm "Cape Verde" silicon, Radeon HD 7770 packs 640 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, and is wired to 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide interface.

NVIDIA released its first desktop graphics cards based on its 28 nm GK107 silicon, in as many as three models, the GeForce GT 630, GT 640, GT 640 (second variant). Apart from these, NVIDIA appears to have launched two more models, one labeled GT 640, and another GT 645, which are based on previous generation GF116 and GF114, respectively. These new SKUs are available only to OEM partners, who will implement them in their new desktop PC designs.

Even as NVIDIA is on the verge of unveiling its GeForce GTX 690 dual-GPU graphics card, at GeForce LAN Shanghai, AMD is in no hurry. Its competitive graphics card to the GTX 690, the Radeon HD 7990 "New Zealand", will be kept under the wraps till Computex 2012 (early June), DonanimHaber learned. A slew of new Ivy Bridge processors isn’t the only thing Intel is announcing today. Slipped into the announcement of its third-generation Core architecture was the mention of the HD 4000 series of integrated graphics cards, which will replace the standard graphics currently on a huge assortment of laptops and desktops. According to Intel, the new integrated graphics chips will deliver up to double performance from the 3000 series, an impressive claim and a necessary advancement as Ultrabooks (most of which use Intel’s HD graphics) become a more popular PC segment.

NVIDIA is poised to launch its high-end GeForce GTX 690 dual-GPU graphics card on the 28th of April, according to a VR-Zone report. NVIDIA has chosen the 2012 NVIDIA GeForce LAN / NVIDIA Gaming Festival (NGF) held in Shanghai, China, as its launchpad. NVIDIA even put up a countdown timer on GeForce.com that counts down to the event. GeForce GTX 690 combines two 28 nm GK104 graphics processors for an SLI-on-a-stick solution. It is gunning for absolute performance leadership, enabling gamers to throw any game, at any resolution at PCs equipped with it.

AMD kicked off its Radeon HD 7900M series mobile discrete GPU family with the Radeon HD 7970M. Based on the 28 nm "Pitcairn" silicon, the HD 7970M is near-identical in specifications to desktop Radeon HD 7870, except for slightly lower GPU core clock speeds. The HD 7970M packs 1280 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, 80 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 2 GB of memory. It's still a challenge finding one of Nvidia's Kepler infused GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards in stock and ready to ship, but one thing the new GPU series doesn't lack is third-party variation. Nvidia's GPU partners are putting their own stamp on the GTX 680 with custom coolers and, in some cases like the new DirectCU II TOP edition from Asus, custom designed PCBs as well.
Asus went above and beyond the reference blueprint with the GeForce GTX DirectCU II TOP, adding 10-phase DIGI+ VRM digitally regulated power delivery with 30 percent noise reduction. The card also features 'Super Alloy Power' components that Asus claims will last 2.5 times longer than reference parts.

NVIDIA used its Facebook page late this week to offer a teaser for what's likely its next-generation, dual-chip graphics hardware. Although the text only shows that "it's coming," traces of a thick card with two sets of heatsinks point to it being a higher-end board rather than a mid-range model. With the GTX 680 already out, the component is likely to ba called the GTX 690.

The next "AMD Tuesday" is the coming one, on which the company plans to launch Radeon HD 7970M, its next high-end discrete GPU for notebooks. Codenamed "Thames", the HD 7970M will be based on the 28 nm "Pitcairn" silicon, on which desktop Radeon HD 7800 series, is also based. When launched, the HD 7970M could become the fastest notebook discrete GPU, since NVIDIA's fastest discrete notebook GPU, and the GeForce GTX 675M are based on previous-generation 40 nm GF114, over which Pitcairn already established a performance lead, in the desktop front. We are hearing that notebook vendors already have their designs based on this chip ready in the pipeline.
