Tablet S gets $100 haircut from Sony

Tablet S gets $100 haircut from Sony

Posted on Jan 03, 2012 by MG1

Sony is greeting 2012 by cutting $100 off the price of its Sony Tablet S. The more traditional of the manufacturer's two tablets, the haircut brings the 16GB model to $399.99 and the 32GB version to $499.99. There is no indication that Sony is cutting the price in order to clear inventory nor is there any sign that the Japanese tech giant is planning a sequel that it needs to clear room for. In fact, the company recently confirmed that both of its tablets will be getting updated to Android 4.0.
There is some speculation that the Sony Tablet S was in need of a price cut considering that it had failed to break into the top five tablets not named Apple iPad. But with its original pricing simila...

Sony Tablet S Ice Cream Sandwich update coming "soon"

Sony Tablet S Ice Cream Sandwich update coming "soon"

Posted on Dec 29, 2011 by MG1

Sony UK used its online forum to say that the Ice Cream Sandwich updated for one of its tablets, Tablet S, is coming “soon.” Unfortunately, they weren’t too specific, leaving us pondering what exactly that “soon” means. Is it the first quarter, the second one? It’s really hard to tell, but we do hope Sony, as a reputable company that is focusing a ton of energy on Android, will release the new software update sooner rather than later…
And before I let you go, I have a Tablet S-related confession to make. I find it to be one of the best 10.1-inch Android tablets out there. Simply put – it fits perfectly into the hand, making reading content on it an awesome experience. In other words, that “m...

Sony Tablet S to get Android 4.0, but no release date yet

Posted on Dec 27, 2011 by MG1

Sony Ericsson has already jumped ahead of the rest of the Android manufacturer pack by committing itself to releasing Android 4.0 on a slew of smartphones and even going so far as to to release "preview ROMs" for several of them. On the tablet side, Sony looks like it's being equally aggressive. In a post on its official Sony forums in the UK, a staffer posted a message proclaiming that "Android 4.0 will be available for Sony Tablet." The language was a little vague, but a follow up post narrowed it down to the Sony Tablet S. Unfortunately, Sony didn't announce a time frame for release of Ice Cream Sandwich or even when it might announce a time frame, saying only that those details would "be...

Best Buy puts the Sony Tablet S on display for pre-order

Posted on Sep 13, 2011 by MG1

The story of what is currently going on with the Sony Tablet S is a bit muddled. As we reported, Home Shopping Network is offering the 16GB version of the Android tablet for $599.95. Now keep in mind that the typical HSN viewer might not be someone who is well versed in technology and wouldn't know the difference between a device with 16GB of storage, or one with 32GB of storage. HSN says that the tablets are ready to ship.
On the other hand, Sony is taking pre-orders for the same 16GB version of the tablet for $499.99. The tablet is expected to ship on the 16th of this month which means if you can wait until Friday, you can save a C-note. Otherwise, if you buy the device from HSN you will ...
