T-Mobile, AT&T Deal May Hurt Retailers, Employees

You didn’t think you were the only ones potentially being screwed over by this whole T-Mobile and AT&T thing, did you? The deal between the two wireless operators had us focused on the potential outcomes for customers, but we’ve just been reminded that their employees are going to be seriously affected, too.
The Wall Street Journal reported that out of the 9,200 AT&T and T-Mobile stores nationwide, 41 percent of these stores are within one mile of each other. This creates a problem because, if the FCC approves this deal, some stores will have to be closed. That means you’re out of luck if you own one of the selected stores.
AT&T’s interest in T-Mobile is purely for its resources. The deal me...

T-Mobile reacts to latest FCC filings by opponents of the merger

T-Mobile reacts to latest FCC filings by opponents of the merger

Posted on Jun 23, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: T-Mobile

It hasn't been a secret that Sprint is by far the biggest opponent of the proposed AT&T-T-Mobile merger. CEO Dan Hesse has basically done all he can to oppose and present arguments as to why the deal shouldn't get done, including an explanation of how AT&T could actually increase its network capacity without acquiring T-Mobile, the nation's fourth-largest carrier.
However, it seems T-Mobile's Tom Sugrue, the company's Vice President of Government Affairs, has decided to join the debate by issuing a comment on recent FCC filings. According to the official, opponents of the merger have thus far “failed to offer any credible arguments”, and have demonstrated a “head-in-the-sand insistence that ...

AT&T sees Q1 2012 approval for T-Mobile acquisition

Because of the size of the deal, AT&T's planned acquisition of T-Mobile for $39 billion must get approval from both the FTC and the Justice Department. Those who oppose or are in favor the deal had until Monday to register their opinion with both agencies. You can be sure that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse had a few choice words to pass along to the government as he has been the most vocal in the industry against the deal.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide leaked in new images

Posted on Jun 21, 2011 by MG1

Earlier this month we saw a few pictures of T-Mobile’s supposed upcoming myTouch 4G Slide smartphone. On Monday, clearer pictures and more specs were leaked. The phone — a follow-up to the original myTouch 4G that launched last year — reportedly sports a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, support for 1080p HD video recording, a forward-facing camera for video chats, 768MB of RAM and, as its name implies, support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. T-Mobile has been tight lipped on the myTouch 4G Slide, but the increasing leaks certainly suggest that the phone’s release is imminent. Hit the jump for a few more images.

LG's new dual-screen Android phone for T-Mobile spotted

LG's new dual-screen Android phone for T-Mobile spotted

Posted on Jun 17, 2011 by MG1

Sprint’s Kyocera Echo is currently the only dual-screen smartphone available, but the Echo may not hold that throne for much longer. Pocket-Lint has gotten its hands on several photos of a new dual-screen Android handset made by LG that’s possibly headed to T-Mobile in the U.K. The secondary display doesn’t look like it’s as versatile as the Echo’s — instead it appears limited to offering quick access to shortcuts — and it certainly has a unique split-keyboard design that would take some getting used to. The phone could launch as the Maxx Q or the Flip II if it ever makes a debut, but there’s no word if that’s definite. Hit the jump for a few more photos.
