HTC announces the HTC EVO 4G+ in South Korea

Posted on Jun 23, 2011 by MG1

HTC South Korea has just announced a new device called the EVO 4G+ that looks a lot like something we’re soon due to get in the states, the EVO 3D. We wouldn’t hold it against you if you failed to tell the difference between the two smartphones, because based on looks alone they’re practically twins. The Evo 4G+, like the EVO 3D, has a 1.2 GHz dual core CPU, 4.3 inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) display, 1GB of RAM, and can hop on WiMAX networks, albeit the Korean version known as WiBro. Unlike the 3D, the 4G+ also does 14.4 Mbps HSPA+ on the 900 MHz and 2100 MHz bands, meaning it’s a good fit for both Asian and European countries. The 4G+ also lacks a pair of 5 megapixel cameras and a 3D display,...

Remember when the HTC Sensation got announced back in April? The whole event was surrounded by mystery up to the very last moment. At the same time, people were trying hard to guess what new groundbreaking device or technology the manufacturer was about to reveal.
Well, it is the same thing happening all over again. According to some spicy rumors, HTC has another media event scheduled for June 27, and just like the case was with the Sensation's announcement, the party will supposedly take place in London. Besides that, it has been said that during the event, HTC will introduce the latest addition to its portfolio of high-tech devices.

Settled on an EVO 3D, did you? If you just so happen to be a part of Sprint's Premier club, it looks as if your floodgates are wide open. A spate of tipsters (as well as our own Richard Lawler) have confirmed this evening that Sprint's latest whiz-bang superphone is indeed on sale to an elite few, with $199.99 netting you the handset along with a particularly daunting two-year ball / chain combination. $549.99 buys it outright, but there's no clear indication on if these are indeed shipping out in the morning. Either way, we're guessing it's going to be mighty hard to resist this fellow -- you know, Because life is in 3D.

HTC Thunderbolt getting Android 2.3.4 update, Skype Video on June 30th

Posted on Jun 21, 2011 by MG1

HTC Thunderbolt owners, here’s a piece of good news for you. Your LTE-enabled smartphone will get the Android 2.3.4 update on June 30th! And while that’s great news for itself, there’s more — aside from the latest flavor of Gingerbread, the software upgrade will also bring video calls, including GTalk and check this, Skype Video. Yep, we’ve been waiting this for quite some time now and had to rely on other apps like Tango to beam our ugly faces to the unlucky recipient on the other side of the line. No more, he or she will soon be able to “enjoy” the sight using the familiar Skype interface. That said, I do expect to lose a contact or two from my Skype list in the next few days, but hey – so...

Notably, the new version of Android broke compatibility with the Netflix for Android app that was also recently released. Well, it looks like Sprint and HTC have addressed the issue and are now pushing out a maintenance update to correct it. Also packed in with the update is a voicemail notification fix and hearing aid compatibility. Users will get a notification on their phones when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed.

HTC Sensation 4G official for Bell

HTC Sensation 4G official for Bell

Posted on Jun 17, 2011 by MG1

Bell gained the distinction of being the first if not only Canadian carrier to get the HTC Sensation 4G. Its version will be much like the international version of the 1.2GHz, dual-core Android 2.3 phone but switch over to Bell's HSPA frequencies, also shared with most Canadian carriers and AT&T, and carry 14.4Mbps. The carrier is pushing its Mobile TV app for live streaming but also plans to carry HTC's Watch movie store.
The Sensation 4G is HTC's most advanced smartphone to date and, apart from the speed, centers on a 4.3-inch, 540x960 display. It packs a 1.3-megapixel front camera and an eight-megapixel rear camera that can drive 1080p video recording. HTC' Sense 3.0 is making its first a...
