Now that Motorola's Xoom is ready to rock out on 4G LTE connections, the only thing missing from the original 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet is a nice suite of edutainment software... wait, what? Lenovo IdeaPad A1 quietly goes on sale in US

Lenovo has quietly begun taking sales for its new IdeaPad Tablet A1. The company had announced the entry-level device back in early September with similar lack of fanfare. The seven-inch device, which runs Android 2.3, is priced from $199 to $249, depending on capacity.
The IdeaPad A1 runs on a low-cost, 1GHz TI OMAP 3622 ARM Cortex-A8 processor, a front two-megapixel camera, and a rear five-megapixel camera. The base built-in storage is as little as 2GB, with an optional 16GB version. Lenovo claims the battery runs for up to five hours, or up to seven hours when just browsing.

U.S. Cellular has informed us that the HTC Flyer Android 2.3 Gingerbread tablet will be available from the carrier beginning tomorrow, October 7. The Flyer will cost $399.99, after rebate, when picked up with a two-year commitment and a 5GB data plan for $54.99 per month. A 200MB data plan is available for $14.99 per month, but the Flyer will cost $599.99, after rebate, if a customer opts for the smaller data plan.

T-Mobile reps have a ton of work ahead of them this month and next. A leaked calendar shows all of the things that employees of the nation's fourth largest carrier have to do in October. The first thing, not even mentioned in any of the leaked documents, is to answer calls from angry customers calling to find out why the carrier is the only one of the top four mobile operators in the U.S. not to offer the Apple iPhone. Best Buy announced today that it is cutting the price of the HTC Flyer 7 inch tablet by $200 to $299.99 starting on October 1st. Tablet prices have been coming down as seen by Amazon's announcement that it will launch its 7 inch Kindle Fire on November 15th for $199.99. In addition, Best Buy itself has chopped $200 off the price of the slow selling BlackBerry PlayBook, taking that price down to $299.99 for the 16GB model and $499.99 for the 64GB variant..

Last weekend we noticed that RIM was experimenting with a $200 price cut in Canada, however, with the unveiling of the Amazon Fire the company has decided to not just move its discount across the border, but make it permanent. A new form of mobile DDR3 memory that can speed up tablets, smartphones, and laptops could appear in devices starting as early as late next year, with adoption ramping up in 2013, analysts said on Thursday.
Low-power DDR3 memory -- also called LPDDR3 -- will bring a bigger data transfer pipe to tablets and smartphones, which could translate into better performance and longer battery life, analysts said. Standards-setting organization JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) is defining the specifications for LPDDR3, which draws heavily from conventional DDR3 DRAM found in PCs today.
