Since it was launched, people have been complaining that the new iPad doesn't charge properly, reporting that the device isn't fully charged even when it claims to be. Apple has now responded, stating that this is actually on purpose.
All Things D reports that Apple broke it down for them: The iPad displays that it is 100-percent charged before it is. At that point, it continues to charge to capacity, before dishcarging a little, and then charges back up to 100 percent again. Speaking to All Things D, Apple VP Michael Tchao explains:

New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets

New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets

Posted on Mar 27, 2012 by MG1

A lot has been made about how much hotter the new iPad runs than its predecessors. Overall, the blame has been placed on the much much larger battery found in the device, as well as the higher-res screen, and the updated processor... so essentially there has been blame placed on everything new about the new iPad. Apple, of course, says that the new iPad is "well within... thermal specifications".
New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets
Whether or not the iPad performs within the average user's "thermal specifications" are neither here nor there, but PCWorld has done a little research to compare the average temperature of other popular tablets, and the new iPad beats them all (or loses, i....

Does Apple's New iPad Really Have a Heat Issue?

Apple CEO Tim Cook talked a lot about the post-PC era when introducing the new iPad tablet, but if reports are true that the device tops 100F in some situations, and you're male, you may want to steer clear of resting it on your lap, lest you fry your little swimmers and we start talking about the post-human race era. Or not. Conflicting reports abound on just how hot the new iPad gets.
Consumer Reports kicked things off by claiming it recorded temperatures as high as 116 degrees Fahrenheit on the front and rear of the new iPad while playing Infinity Blade II for 45 minutes. Ambient room temperature was a controlled 72 degrees, well below Apple's upper threshold recommendation of 95 degrees.

WhatsTrending found Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak waiting in line for his new iPad at the Century City Mall in Los Angeles. “My wife was the first [in line], I was the second,” said Woz. “We came at about noon. We’re used to Northern California where the stores lines start early.” Of course the co-founder could simply receive the tablet directly from Apple, however Wozniak believes waiting in line has become somewhat of a ritual. “It’s not something that I have to do. Nobody needs to wait in line. You can pre-order… But I’d rather be there genuine like the real people. I want to be one of the people lined up and wait all night. Apple’s just that important to so many of us. You don’t live fo...

Samsung's Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun has commented on reports about the firm's alleged exclusivity as a Retina Display supplier for the new iPad. The translation from Korean reads: ``It’s a matter of allocation. There is no only supplier in the world. Samsung is just supplying displays to Apple, initially".

Within hours of the new iPad’s release, iPhone hacker MuscleNerd had already managed to jailbreak the tablet. The hacker took to Twitter to announce his discovery, however he notes that it is “just a first step” and there is “still lots of work to do” with no estimated time frame for a public release available at this time. MuscleNerd uploaded two screenshots to confirm his claims, one displaying root access and the other showing the Cydia app store.

Already, we gave you all 5 solutions of what to do with your old iPad if you’re considering buying the new one. Of course, one of the options is to sell the tablet back to one of those buyback programs out there, but if you prefer dealing with Apple, you ought to consider its Reuse and Recycling program.
Honestly, you might also want to do some comparison shopping for what you can fetch for your iPad 2 – well, that’s because the money might not be enough for some people to accept. Currently, Apple’s Reuse and Recycling program, which works in tandem with trade-in partner PowerON, can give up to $320 for a near perfect condition 64GB 3G enabled iPad 2 with no “light to moderate scratches or ...

Amazon on Thursday updated its official Kindle app for iOS less than 24 hours before Apple’s new iPad launches. The Kindle 3.0 update adds a number of improvements, including a new eBook library design, cloud view and support for the new iPad’s Retina Display. The new library design facilitates easy access to a user’s books no matter where they are stored, with a new grid view and two tabs labeled “Device” and “Cloud” much like the layout on Amazon’s Kindle Fire. The update is available now for free in the App Store.

The new iPad doesn't allow FaceTime over LTE

The new iPad doesn't allow FaceTime over LTE

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Filed in: TabletsAppleiPad 3

We've just confirmed that although the new iPad has incredibly fast download and upload speeds over LTE, FaceTime video chat still won't work directly on the 4G network. As you can see in the positively vexing screenshot above, attempting to initiate a FaceTime call over LTE fails out with a message exhorting you to connect to a Wi-Fi network. It's the exact same behavior that iOS devices on 3G networks have always exhibited, but it's doubly frustrating as Verizon's LTE plans for the new iPad include Wi-Fi hotspot functionality at no extra cost. In other words, you could easily initiate a Wi-Fi hotspot from your new Verizon LTE iPad and use it to successfully make a FaceTime call from an iPh...

Signs posted around Hong Kong Apple Store say new iPad won't be sold on first-come first-served basis

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Things are a little different at the Apple Store in Hong Kong. While we might expect to see long lines at most of the other Apple Stores around the world and some jockeying for position as the new iPad is sold on a first-come, first-served basis, signs posted outside the Apple Store in Hong Kong specifically prohibit certain activities. In English, the signs say "No Staying or Queuing up here. Apple will not serve on a first come first served basis for new iPad. Please refer to Apple's official website for the detailed arrangement". Without an Apple on the post, it seems that it is the Hong Kong Police who posted the signs. The new Apple iPad launches this Friday, March 16th at many location...

The new iPad is landing Friday, March 16, and Apple has just confirmed that you’ll be able to pick up the new tablet bright and early. The new iPad will go on sale at 8 a.m. this Friday.
Apple has said that the demand for the new iPad is “off the charts,” so if you want to pick one up early on March 16, it looks like you may have to wait in a long line. I’m not a fan of waiting overnight for any products but I’m sure there will be Apple stores across the world with people waiting overnight to get their hands on its latest tablet.

The new iPad arrived with a bang on Wednesday and you’ve had enough time to read our initial thoughts, check out the specs, drool on that new Retina display and appreciate its addition of LTE connectivity with no battery life sacrifices. In a nutshell, you want it. Just like you wanted the iPad 2 and just like you wanted the OG iPad.
But do you just stack it up along with that “old iPad” that just now looks terribly outdated in your eyes? And are you ready to just feed Apple another $500 or more without getting anything back for your iPad?
There are a couple of ways to sell your old iPad and not feel all that bad for getting the new one. You probably know the standard drill. You auction the ...
