Remember that early Gingerbread ROM for the LG Optimus 3D? Sure, it was in a state too crude to be used on a daily basis, but it was good for one thing, namely spoiling the surprise by revealing what goodies the upcoming update is about to bring.
Well, the Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus 3D is now officially starting to roll out next week, November 21 to be precise. HTC and Verizon Wireless have apparently restarted the deployment of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the original DROID Incredible. Initially released back in September, the companies pulled the update shortly after it went out for undisclosed reasons. Here we are over two months later and users are reporting left and right that the upgrade is once again available to them. Users should get a notification on their devices when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed, or they can manually check through the Settings app on the phone itself.

In an uncharacteristic move, Apple has admitted that the latest iOS 5 update, version 5.0.1, hasn’t actually fixed the battery issues everyone was hoping it would.
An Apple statement sent to AllThingsD states that the company is still working on investigating the issues, suggesting that the update was more about bug fixing than giving iPhone users longer battery life.
“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues,” Apple said.

While a proper, untethered iOS 5 jailbreak hasn’t been publicly released just yet, it’s a different story for those willing to put up with a tethered jailbreak. iOS 5 can be busted with Redsn0w, and now the latest firmware update, iOS 5.0.1, which is supposed to fix iPhone 4S battery life has been too.
Now there are a few caveats to this latest iOS 5 jailbreak: this does not work with dual-core iOS devices, so will only work with the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and original iPad, and not the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. A tethered jailbreak also requires your iPhone to be plugged into a PC running Redsnow every time you need to restart, which can be a serious inconvenience.

The Samsung Galaxy S II and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? To us that sounds like a killer combination, but while others would probably have to wait until early 2012 when Samsung is expected to roll out the ICS update, you can have it now if you dare flash the MIUI ROM on your S II.
The crafty developers behind one of the most popular mods for Android, have brought ICS, but it's not exactly in its vanilla form. You'd still get MIUI's signature looks and customization and not the neon glow of Android 4.0, so while you lose the UI elements, the functionality is there.
