ASUS Transformer TF101 gets ICS update

ASUS has released an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the original Eee Pad Transformer. The Taiwanese company announced the update today, posting the release notes to its blog. The update will bring the firmware version to 9.2.1.21 and will start rolling out to users today.
The update will add several enhancements, such as improving system stability, email stability, AppBackup App, and MyLibrary stability. It will also bring support for WiFi Direct, the unzip function in File Manager, and the restore tab function in Browser.

Windows 8 Release set with Google Drive

It appears that along with the Windows 8 Release set for early June we’ll likely also be seeing Google Drive sitting on the desktop in app from right out of the box. With Google Drive having its full release party today several weeks before any Microsoft official release of their up and coming operating system, it’s very possible that both companies are allowing this cloud storage initiative bake for a while before deciding if it’s worth integrating with the release of the new Windows software. Microsoft is closing the Windows Phone Marketplace for non-Mango devices

Microsoft announced two important changes to the way it operates its Windows Phone Marketplace, and if you’re rocking a WP device, you should know that updating to Mango is a must if you want to keep on using the app catalog.
In the coming weeks, Microsoft will close access to its Marketplace for all devices that haven’t been updated to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. You’d only be able to browse the Marketplace if you haven’t updated, but you won’t be able to install apps.

The first version of Skype for Windows Phone will not support low-end "Tango" devices, Microsoft has revealed. Although the company delivered a 1.0 release of Skype for Windows Phone over the weekend, Microsoft says it will only install and run on devices with 512MB of memory. The majority of Windows Phone devices include 512MB of RAM, but Microsoft's latest "Tango" handsets only feature 256MB of memory.

Samsung has posted a list of the smartphones and tablets available in the U.S. that it plans to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at some point this year. TapLogger Android app can read your password based on motion sensor data

Mobile phones present a number of potential security risks, and researchers at the University of Pennsylvania may have just discovered a new one — information retrieved from your phone's motion sensors. The team created an experimental app called TapLogger, which is based on the premise that when you tap on your touch screen, you're not just interacting with the screen, but moving the entire device. So if you hit a button in the upper right corner, your phone will actually move in that direction slightly, and that subtle movement is then read by the accelerometer and other sensors built-in to your device.

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II getting Android 4.0 update

After reaching overseas versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the official Android 4.0 update is now reaching US versions of the unlocked device. The 216.6MB over-the-air update is gradually being released to handsets, though users can go and check for its availability by going into the Settings menu.
Like in the last update for the overseas handsets, TouchWiz is retained and the Android 4.0 UI is relatively invisible. Users will get Face Unlock, however, and support for newer apps including Chrome for Android and other, less visible upgrades.

Windows 7 sales spike despite 8 coming

Microsoft reported stronger-than-expected sales of its current Windows software despite all the buzz surrounding its upcoming Windows 8 revamp.
