Back last September, Sprint started rolling out the Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus S. But the update had to be halted when owners of the device started having some issues. Some owners were having problems recharging their phone or connecting to data. Other problems included the failure of predictive text to appear while typing on the virtual QWERTY, an incorrect message would appear stating that the microSD card is unmounted, and when connected to a PC, the device was unrecognized by Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7

Google released its Android 4.0.4 updates for the GSM Nexus S just a couple of days ago, but for users with Sprint's version of the phone it's been a long wait for Ice Cream Sandwich. Thankfully, BriefMobile has posted what it says is the official over-the-air 4.0.4 ROM for the WiMAX-enabled Nexus S. Along with the newest version of Android, the update has a new baseband that early adopters say has significantly improved WiMAX reception. Well, that didn't take long. Sprint may not have opened its own icebox just yet, but thanks to a BriefMobile source, Nexus S 4G owners can snag themselves Ice Cream Sandwich anyway. While there have been previous efforts, BriefMobile says the leak contains the full, official ICS update, which will be delivered to handsets OTA shortly. Google uses the power of open-source to create exploit fix for Android

Italian researchers recently uncovered a pretty big exploit that affected all versions of the Android system, which allowed for Denial of Service (DoS) attacks to be carried out. The researchers also created a fix for said exploit, and now Google is going to use that fix in an upcoming patch for Android.

Chrome OS 'Daisy' device running on ARM processor revealed by Google Code

Google's Chrome OS is currently only available on Intel Atom-powered Chromebooks like Samsung's Series 5 or Acer's AC700, but testing notes on the project's Google Code issue tracker suggest that this might be about to change. A new Chrome OS device codenamed Daisy has appeared on the site, with references to Samsung's Exynos 5250 processor — an ARM Cortex A15 dual-core SoC clocked at 2GHz that was first announced back in November.
There are also several mentions of ethernet on the Daisy, an unusual inclusion for a Chrome OS device which have relied on either mobile networks or Wi-Fi until now. It's not clear from the listings what form factor the Daisy device will take, or even whether it's...

Good news for the seven of you that own a Chromebook! The latest version of Google’s open source, browser-based operating system, Chromium OS, is now able to automatically sync any files that have been uploaded to Google Docs. Documents, presentations, spreadsheets, forms, drawings, tables, music, movies, and archives will all be automatically synced to your Chromebook, as long as you’re willing to jump through a few hoops.

Google Play mistakenly installs Russian email app on Samsung devices

Some Samsung users were surprised to discover a Russian email app installed on their Android device. Early reports thought the software, named MTS Mobile Mail in English, was malware. It was later discovered that the app was legitimate and a glitch was responsible for the errant install. Because of the way it is installed, the app is notoriously difficult to install.
The problem stems from the install process for Google Play and possible mistake by the developer. A lot has been made about how much hotter the new iPad runs than its predecessors. Google’s Chrome operating system is being tested on Samsung’s Exynos 5250 ARM chip. Possibly, on a new device called “Daisy.” Why is this interesting? So far, there are only two Chrome OS-flavored notebooks and both are running on Intel Atom chips.
Add to this with the fact that Samsung has previously explicitly mentioned that its Exynos 5250 chip aims to end up first on high-end tablets, and only later on smartphones, so you have an interesting combination. Could Google introduce another rival to its own Android operating system? This wouldn’t make much sense, but that’s exactly the suggestion you’d arrive at logically.

Google Voice gets tighter integration with Android 4.0 ICS

Google has released an update to the Google Voice app for Android that gives it greater integration with the native dialer in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new integration lets Google Voice users access their Google Voice messages right from within the call log of the native dialer app. Users can control the playback speed of voicemails to speed up or slow down the message as they listen to it. The new feature can be activated by toggling the "Voicemail display" option in the settings section of the updated Google Voice app. The update is available for free from the Google Play Store now, though the new integration is only available to Android 4.0 devices.

Samsung Galaxy S II on Three gets Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung Galaxy S II owners who are signed up to Three can now update their phones to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The network provider has made the new operating system available via Samsung Kies.
Samsung had previously announced that the software update would start to roll out to its devices from yesterday, 19 March, and it has remained true to its word. Three is the first network to announce its availability in the UK, however.
Previously, Samsung had released a statement saying that eventual roll-out dates for ICS would be left to individual providers. "The availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process," it said.
