LG Thrill 4G shows up in Best Buy's buyer's guide
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGThrill 4G
AT&T's LG Thrill 4G might have been delayed until August 21st, but meanwhile it also showed up in Best Buy's product catalog for August under the LG Thrill 3D moniker. The 3D-enabled handset was put up for pre-order at RadioShack, but the initial release date of August 7th was pushed and pre-orders were extended to August 15th.
A tipster of ours now confirmed that Best Buy is expected to launch the phone for pre-order soon, but had no further details about the device. Well, we already know plenty about the phone, which was launched as the LG Optimus 3D outside of the States. The 4.3-inch display on this powerhouse supports glasses-free 3D using a parallax barrier, which acts as a slit plate ...

T-Mobile's HTC Ruby caught in the wild
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCAmaze 4G
Remember the HTC Ruby, the unannounced Android smartphone which we caught at Flickr? Well we now have a more revealing photo to show you, clearly suggesting this baby is slated to hit T-Mobile. And while we have no other information at the moment — like the release date and price — we think of the Ruby as a mashup between the HTC Sensation and some myTouch model. In that sense, we assume (speculate) it will come with HSPA+ (4G) and Wi-Fi connectivity on board, 5-megapixel camera, 3.7-inch or bigger WVGA touchscreen, along with all other “standard for an Android smartphone” goodies like sensors, Bluetooth and so on. Moreover, Android 2.3 Gingerbread will run the show right from the start.

US Cellular Q2 results bring higher revenue, despite small customer loss
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell Phones
With the upcoming introduction of its LTE network and vast fall smartphone lineup, US Cellular's a regional carrier with a lot to look forward to. But its efforts over the second quarter, paired with the hopes of a bright future ahead, weren't enough to keep a few thousand customers from parting ways. While most of the reported figures were quite pleasant year-over-year -- service revenues bumped up three percent to $1 billion, percentage of smartphones sold skyrocketed to nearly 40 percent, ARPU increased to $51.84, and total operating income shot up a whole 61 percent -- the company also experienced a loss of 58,000 customers over the course of three months. The carrier doesn't seem too wo...

Huawei Vision hits the FCC, assaults the senses with a promo video
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHuaweiVision
Huawei this morning offered the world a video sneak peak of the Vision, its "most stylish smartphone yet," and like clockwork, the thing has popped up -- albeit less flashily -- on the FCC's site. The admittedly slick-looking handset packs Gingerbread, a 1GHz processor, and a 3.7 inch capacitive touchscreen into a unibody frame that's 9.9 millimeters at its thinnest. As for that "3D interface" the company's been talking up, you can see that in action after the break.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 appear in Rogers upgrade system
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesRIM BlackBerryBold 9900Torch 9810
While we'd heard word on Bell's -- and most of the US carriers -- pending launch of the Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 BlackBerry 7 devices, the Rogers rumor mill stayed shuttered. That's all changed with the lovely screengrab you can peep above apparently from the Rogers point-of-sale system upgrades department. While sadly this little gem doesn't mention dates or pricing for this highly anticipated duo, Rogers has typically been first to market with new BlackBerry goods in Canada -- and we're hopeful that holds true in this case. But if we had to guess at a ballpark figure, Vodafone UK priced the Bold 9900 at roughly $650 and has us thinking we might see something in that realm over here. There'...

DROID Bionic Revisions Revealed by FCC Documents
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
The DROID Bionic will be coming this September, and Verizon already has the teaser page up. While we know what it’s going to look like, and more or less what the specs are going to be, the FCC has released documents that give us a look at the revised DROID Bionic – the one we’ll be seeing next month.
The FCC reveals what we already know: the DROID Bionic will support CDMA/EVDO and LTE, it will have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, 8MP camera with flash, and micro-HDMI port. Overall, it’s what you’d expect from a high-end, modern-day smartphone.
We first saw the DROID Bionic at CES 2011, where we felt like it was definitely going to be the hot 4G LTE Android smartphone for Verizon. It is being la...

HTC Developer site goes live: OpenSense SDK and kernel source offered aplenty
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTC
HTC's flipped the switch on its development website, which was designed to be a "one-stop shop" for a wide variety of SDKs and other resources for developers. As promised, the manufacturer's OpenSense SDK -- which includes a S3D SDK for HTC's 3D stereoscopic interface and pen SDK for its Scribe feature -- is now available for download; there's also plenty of kernel source codes to peruse and access. Finally, the Bootloader Unlock web tool, one of the most highly anticipated pieces of software that the company's promised to unleash, only shows as "coming soon" on the site. There hasn't been any official word on when it'll go live, but we're expecting it to happen later this month as the EVO 3...

BlackBerry Colt may be RIM's first QNX smartphone, will lack BES support out-of-box?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesRIM BlackBerry
To many, a colt is a representation of rebirth and a symbol for youthfulness. Research in Motion appears to be in desperate need for exactly that -- a regeneration. It seems appropriate, then, that RIM may be launching the BlackBerry Colt, its first QNX-based "superphone," in the first quarter of 2012. This timeline will ensure the device launches at the expected time, according to rumors by BGR, but there's likely to be a few compromises to ensure it gets pushed out to market faster. The Colt is said to be undergoing internal testing with a single-core chip, contrary to promises of including dual-core CPUs. Additionally, the maiden voyage of the smartphone platform may be completely devoid ...

LightSquared signs roaming agreement with ClearTalk, thumbs nose at industry opposition
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell Phones
For a nascent LTE network beset by GPS interference troubles, LightSquared's rolling right along, snatching up new clients for its wholesale service. The Phil Falcone-backed wireless upstart's just inked a roaming agreement with Flat Wireless' ClearTalk that'll extend nationwide coverage to customers in the small operator's footprint. The deal is the latest in a string of partnerships for the LTE wholesaler that'll see its 4G network roll-out to mostly rural and underserved markets -- barring any industry-mounted obstacles. Behind-the-scenes drama aside, it looks like the company's taking a business as usual approach to its much contested launch. Full PR after the break.

A short 10 second video shows off the new LG Prada K2, a high-end device that is related to the first capacitive touchscreen handset, the LG Prada. A rear and front-facing camera come in at 8MP and 1.3MP respectively while a 21Mbps HSPA+ radio is aboard.
Like the LG Prada and the LG Prada II, it is expected that the LG Prada K2 will not be available in the States. The device will be thin, coming in at less than 9mm thin. It will be a stylish device,...

T-Mobile “aggressively” working on resolving G2 battery issues; feedback greatly appreciated
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesT-MobileG2
As we told you about a week ago, an increasing number of T-Mobile G2 smartphones are affected by power management problems. Reportedly, some unlucky G2 owners are witnessing their device's battery being drained in a matter of hours irregardless of whether the smartphone is in use or in standby mode.
Fortunately, T-Mobile is already working hard on resolving the issue, and you are also invited to provide your feedback, if you wish. On its support web page, the carrier has started a thread where users are free to describe the symptoms that their T-Mobile G2 is experiencing in an effort to provide a solution in the shortest time possible.
Reading through the posts we noticed that switching the ...

Dell Venue Pro now available for 199 Euro without contract!
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesDellVenue Pro
If you are Nokia hater like me, but you would like to get decent Windows Phone 7 device, then you can get one if you live or visit Germany:
The phone has slide-out QWERTY keyboard (or QWERTZ to be precise as it is German version) and features 16 GB and 1GHz processor. Interestingly both Dell and other online retailers still offer this phone for 399 Euro, so this discount price at Media Markt is exceptionally low, particularly considering that it is a phone without contract. It’s almost prepaid phone price!
With the new firmware update for the Dell Venue Pro fixing most of the complaints about the device, and Mango on the horizon, it may just be a great deal.
