No surprises here, but Motorola and Verizon have just announced the 0.5-inches thick LTE Droid 4. The Droid 4 has a 4-inch, qHD display with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of onboard memory. Additionally, the 8 megapixel camera can shoot 1080p, HD video. There is no specific availability but it should be making its way to Verizon in the coming weeks.

Verizon activated more iPhones than 4G LTE devices last quarter
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleVerizon WirelessiPhone 4
Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo revealed that the carrier activated a record 4.2 million Apple iPhones during the holiday season. The largest carrier in the United States set another record, as the company turned on service for 2.2 million LTE devices in the fourth quarter.
Verizon barely missed its lofty goal of 11 million iPhones sold in 2011 by only a few thousand, ending the year with 10.7 million sold. This was the highest number of activations since the company first rolled out LTE in late 2010. The spike in activations would likely suggest the double data promotion Big Red ran for its LTE devices during the holidays was a major success. With the release of Motorola’s Droid Razr, the ...

Verizon Wireless data network down across the country
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesVerizon Wireless
If you’re using Verizon Wireless services today you might have noticed the huge data outage reported on both 3G and 4G networks across the country. Users from New York and New Jersey to California are all suffering from the outage, which seems to really be a nationwide one and the carrier itself has confirmed the issue exists. There’s no estimated time on when a fix will come, but hopefully it will be soon.
Sadly, Verizon representatives aren’t authorized to speak about exactly what areas and markets are affected, so this is solely based on user reports.

Super Bowl to be streamed online and to Verizon phones for the first time
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesVerizon Wireless
It looks like you'll have a few more viewing options than usual at your next Super Bowl party. The NFL announced today that the Super Bowl, plus wild card Saturday and the Pro Bowl, will all be streamed online for the first time on both the NFL's and NBC's websites. Mobile users will also be able to get in on the act, albeit only if they have a Verizon smartphone with the NFL Mobile app. What's more, those broadcasts will also give viewers access to quite a bit more than old-fashioned TV watchers have access to, including multiple camera angles, in-game highlights, and live stats. No word if the streams will include ads.

HTC Fireball getting ready to scorch Verizon's 4G lineup?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCVerizon Wireless
Hey, we've always said that Verizon LTE is blazing fast, so it seems appropriate to name products in its lineup accordingly. A leaked screenshot of Big Red's internal system, brought to us by Droid Life, indicates that this very well may be the case, as a new device called the HTC Fireball (ADR6410L) just popped up. Aside from its inclusion of the next-gen data speeds, nothing else is known about the gadget; heck, we don't even know for sure if it's going to have the same name (we're half-expecting it to be renamed as something Beats-related). Regardless of its name, if the screenshot above is accurate, we may soon have another quietly brilliant device hanging out next to the Rezound.

Installing Google Wallet on the Nexus Just Got Way Easier
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus CDMA
erizon thought it was sooo slick, blocking Google Wallet on the new Galaxy Nexus in order to promote its in-house alternative. Too bad Verizon didn't count on the Internet.
Thanks to some kindly souls over at the XDA-Developers Forum, Google Wallet is now available on the Nexus—without hacks or roots. They were able to modify the app to work on the Nexus and install as an APK. Nexus users will need a file explorer to locate the app once its on the phone but that's about it. The APK is available for download...

Galaxy Nexus antennagate? Verizon confirms its signal strength issues
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus CDMA
It seems that the new Google/Samsung Galaxy Nexus is having a little “antennagate” of its own. After Twitter user Jack Doyle tweeted to Verizon about signal strength issues he’s experiencing with his Galaxy Nexus, the Verizon Wireless Support team confirmed: “The signal strength issue is currently being investigated. We don’t have an ETA, but a software update is being developed.”

Google Wallet hacks to work on Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
Well this didn’t take long. Google Wallet is now unofficially available for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. This is truly ironic considering all of the bad turmoil that has been going on for the past few days, which allegedly has Big Red blocking the payment service. Thanks to the hard-working Android community people are able to get their hands on the Wallet service, but only if you’re willing to root your phone and follow a relatively simple guide.
What’s even cooler about this back door way into the Google Wallet app is you’re still able to get your hands on the complimentary $10 Google prepaid card once you sign up. If you’re the tinkering type who really wants to experience the pay and go wit...

iPhone for Verizon Wireless - how it compares to other versions
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleVerizon WirelessiPhone 4s
Another day, another question to answer. This time one of our readers asked me whether the iPhone 4S sold by Verizon Wireless is any better than what two other big carriers (AT&T and Sprint) are offering.
The short answer is – NO! You’ll get the best experience with AT&T’s iPhone 4S because it’s the only one that supports simultaneous voice and data. While iPhone 4S sold by Sprint and Verizon Wireless rely on a CDMA network, AT&T’s version connects to a GSM one, which allows this capability [data and voice at the same time]. In real-life this means that you’ll still be getting push notifications from the web even when you’re in the middle of a call.

White Motorola Droid RAZR for Verizon Wireless now official
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessDROID RAZR
The Motorola Droid RAZR for Verizon Wireless is arguably one of the prettiest smartphones on the market right now. If it weren’t for the terrible AMOLED screen and the questionable battery life, then this writer would have a hard time resisting the urge to pick one up this holiday shopping season. So last month when rumors started floating around the internet that Verizon would be introducing a white variant of the Droid RAZR, you can understand that many Android fans started foaming from the mouth with anticipation. Well now it’s official, and … meh, it’s actually not what we were expecting. In fact, it shouldn’t even be called white. It’s basically the same black Droid RAZR we’ve already r...

Verizon to benefit most from iPhone 4S: expected to add 1.2 million subscribers
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleVerizon WirelessiPhone 4s
Verizon is expected to be the carrier that reaps the most benefits out of the iPhone 4S stateside. A leaked memo by JP Morgan hints that Verizon Wireless will increase its subscriber count by 1.2 million in the fourth quarter, largely due to the iPhone 4S being available on the carrier since day 1 of its launch. AT&T, the carrier the iPhone originally launched on, is projected to only add 450,000 new subscribers, while Sprint is expected to boost its subscriber base by 250,000 in Q4 2011.
T-Mobile, in contrast, is the only one of the four major US carriers that doesn’t have the iPhone and the forecast is for its subscribers to decrease by 400,000.

Samsung GALAXY Nexus training material for Verizon resellers leaks
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
Let's say you are a rep for a third party Verizon reseller and the Samsung GALAXY Nexus has finally been launched. If someone comes into the store asking questions about the device, you are going to be glad that Big Red provided you with some training material to study. "Yes, Mr. Smith, the screen on the Samsung GALAXY Nexus is the world's first HD Super AMOLED display allowing you to watch YouTube videos and movies in high-def.
Plenty of space on the training material was given to Google+ and its Circles, Hangouts and Messenger applications. Of course, Verizon provided a list of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus' game changing features such as the curved display which helps prevent scratches on the ...

Google Wallet to be blocked by Verizon on Samsung GALAXY Nexus?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
While many potential buyers of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus didn't give it a second thought, others figured that they would be buying a device that would probably work with Google Wallet. Like the only other smartphone that supports Google Wallet (the Google Nexus 4G), the GALAXY Nexus will have the necessary NFC chip embedded in the battery door. Unfortunately, Verizon will not allow the first Android 4.0 phone to access Google Wallet.
The reason for this is quite simple. Big Red is one of the companies involved with Google Wallet competitor ISIS, which also uses NFC technology. Others involved with ISIS include manufacturers HTC, LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, RIM and Samsung. Other carriers inv...

Verizon's Galaxy Nexus updated to Android 4.1.0, finally ready to dance?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsSamsungVerizon WirelessGoogleGALAXY NexusAndroid 4.0
A lucky human known as "Bradgog" posted the above screenshot to a thread on My Droid World last night, ostensibly heralding the arrival of Android 4.1 on Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Nexus. As you can see in the image (purportedly taken on Verizon's 3G network), the firmware update appears to bring a new baseband radio to the handset, which, in turn, may explain the delay in bringing the device to Big Red's stable. It's hard to say for sure, though we should have a clearer idea any day now.

Leaked Verizon document hints at white Droid RAZR, leaves speculation to us
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessDROID RAZR
Is there a white Droid RAZR looming on the horizon? According to the above screenshot, there is. Obtained by the folks over at Droid Life, this image purports to give a glimpse into Verizon's device management system, which apparently boasts a previously unmentioned white version of Motorola's ultra-thin handset. If it's legit, the RAZR would join the likes of the Droid 2 Global and R2D2 alongside the manufacturer's predominantly white offerings, though Motorola has yet to confirm its existence. Details, then, are still scarce, but we'll let you know as soon as we hear more about any alabaster arrivals.
