Leaked photos reveal cheaper version of Apple iPhone 4 to be introduced Tuesday
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Gizmodo's Brazilian site was able to get someone inside one of Foxconn's Brazilian factories. The plant (inside the plant) was able to snap pictures of what he alleges is a new Apple iPhone model in the midst of being produced. The phone is code named "N90A" and indicates that the model is a cheaper version of the current Apple iPhone 4. The GSM version of the Apple iPhone is "N90" while the CDMA variant is "N92". The addition of the "A" on the end of the code would seem to indicate that the model that was pictured is a variant of the GSM flavored Apple iPhone 4.

iPhone 4S is Certain

The rumors around a new streamlined iPhone 4 named iPhone 4S have already turned almost to news. Rumors about a new lower cost iPhone 4 have been around for quite a while. They totally confused the iPhone rumor mill over the summer. It took a while until it was seen as likely that Apple will reveal two new iPhones in 2011. In recent days though we only see confirmation of the iPhone 4S and not of the premium iPhone 5.

The news ties in with previous rumours both detailing a 64GB version and the N94 codename.
To add further fuel to the fire, a label supposedly off an iPhone 4S box has turned up on a Chinese forum.

AT&T has confirmed previous rumors that it will be increasing the cost of iPhone insurance starting October 4. The carrier looks to be taking advantage of the high influx of new iPhone customers that will likely result from next Tuesday’s unveiling of the iPhone 5. It’s interesting to note that AT&T had this date picked all the way back in July, according to the below leaked screenshot obtained by 9to5mac.

Physical iPhone 5 Prototype made in Germany
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
iPhone 5 images and renders are common. Benm.at, part of the Giga.de network took things a lot further. They developed a physical iPhone 5 prototype. Benm.at says that the iPhone 5 prototype is based on CAD designs, hardware components, several leaked hints, cases and recent, believable mockups we created a three-dimensional computer model. This virtual model was then used to build a very detailed, true prototype that you can hold in your own two hands.
The process to create this prototype is the same that’s used to create the iPad. The back was machined from a sold block of aluminum, which was later treated with glass pearls to get the same slightly rough touch that we already know from the...

iPhone 4S pops up in Apple's inventory again
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4
A new image suggesting Apple will soon launch an “iPhone 4S” was revealed on Thursday. 9to5Mac published a photo from Apple’s internal inventory that clearly shows the iPhone 4S moniker and suggests the 16GB iPhone 4S model number is “MD239.” Oddly, the new device is also codenamed “N94″ which was previously thought to have been reserved for the iPhone 5. 9to5Mac also said it also confirmed the phone in the system packs a dual-core A5 processor. On Wednesday we reported on a different internal inventory leak that suggested Apple will release two new 8GB iPhone models, one black and one white, in addition to a white iPod touch. While most reports have suggested Apple will reveal a thinner, li...

Gang producing iPhone knockoffs with real parts busted in China
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4
According to a police report filed by Chinese authorities, fake iPhones assembled with genuine parts have been discovered circulating the local cell phone market. The well-organized gang behind the scheme found a way to get their hands on some essential components from Apple's suppliers, assemble the devices in a sort of a DIY fashion, and even make the handsets appear more or less indistinguishable from the real deal to the average Joe.
Apparently, business for the guys was going well as an iPhone knockoff cost them about 2,000 yuan (roughly $310) worth of components, yet sold for about twice as much on the market. In comparison, a genuine iPhone can be bought from an official Apple store...

Touch Panel Defects To Affect iPhone 5 Availability?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
While it’s near impossible to say what exactly Apple has in store for us come October, a new report from DigiTimes reveals that there may be fewer iPhone 5s to go around if it indeed makes its debut.
Some of the iPhone 5 touch panels that manufacturer Wintek has assembled are turning out to be defective, and could potentially cause a supply shortage come launch day.

iPhone 5 Media Event is at Apple Campus on October 4
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Last week AllthingsD broke the rumor that the Apple iPhone 5 Media event takes place on Tuesday, October 4. Today John Paczkowski follows up that rumor with the location of the Apple media event. Apple is supposed to host the event at the Apple Campus and not in downtown San Francisco as usual. All iPhone models and iPads have been unveiled in venues outside of the Apple campus. Why Apple is choosing this time to stay at the Apple Campus is unclear.
It is possible that venues have been booked out or the actual date was still moving until last minute. Tim Cook is expected to host the show. It will be his first big public presentation as Apple CEO.
I am pretty sure he will unveil something st...

iPad 3, LTE iPhone promise 'monster' Apple earnings next year
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesTabletsAppleiPad 3
Is Apple’s product pipeline too full of home runs to fail? The release of the iPhone 5, a second entry-level iPhone, the next iPad and even next year’s 4G LTE-powered iPhone will help Apple maintain its series of “monster” quarters according to Wedbush analyst Scott Sutherland. He expects Apple to ship 26 million iPhones during the first quarter of next year, up from 23 million during the first quarter of this year. New product launches are the special sauce to Apple’s success, Sutherland says. “While the iPhone 4 appears to be selling well due to existing market demand and new markets, we expect a bump up from the iPhone 5 this October, and a lower end iPhone geared towards emerging markets...

Speaking during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference on Thursday, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said he was confident that his company “would do very well” when it offers the iPhone 5, despite the influx of competition that is expected if Sprint introduces the phone. Sprint could be in contention for data-hogging customers if it does indeed offer unlimited data with the iPhone 5 and recent rumors have suggested it will.

Apple's Fall event set for October 4th, Tim Cook to unveil iPhone 5
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
We’re getting closer and closer. According to AllThingsD, Apple is currently planning to hold the company’s Fall event on October 4th. The report also notes that Apple CEO Tim Cook will be introducing the iPhone 5 most likely without Steve Jobs, though it’s certainly possible Jobs could attend. As far as availability: “Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.” We’d suggest that Apple is just setting expectations a little too low and if we had to bet, we’d say that the iPhone 5 would be available within two weeks of the announcement, possibly even a week after.

Samsung reportedly mulling a legal offensive against the new iPhone in Europe as well
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungAppleiPhone 4s
Hot on the heels of yesterday's news that Samsung will try to ban the sales of Apple's next iPhone in Korea, basing its lawsuit on wireless patents infringement, now comes a Reuters piece alleging the same move in Europe as well.
The "source familiar with the matter" has disclosed that Samsung is planning to ask for an injunction against Apple's iPhone 5, or whatever the retail name ends up to be when it is about to launch next month in Europe, probably basing its counteroffensive on several wireless patents it holds, which will be featured in the new iPhone as well.
Apple is suing Samsung in a number of countries on four different continents, trying to ban sales of its tablets and smartphon...
