The iPhone 4 has just become the most popular camera on Flickr beating the Nikon D90 who long held the crown and made us wonder about all the possible reasons behind it. A look at Flickr's stats shows that its professional and semi-professional DSLRs that occupy the rankings as the Canon EOS 5D Mark II comes third, followed by the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi and the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. One thing is evident – the iPhone 4 has a far inferior camera than all of them.

Nokia claims N9 is 'the fastest image-capturing phone' yet
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
We've already established that the N9 is a delight of a phone, both inside and out, but our hands-on time with Nokia's new flagship gave us only a brief look at its camera performance. Now the company is graciously filling that gap in our knowledge with some further disclosure about its new 8 megapixel imager, including the lofty claim that the N9 is the fastest phone yet when it comes to capturing an image -- ousting the likes of the iPhone 4, the Galaxy S II, and even the Canon S95, perhaps the best pocket camera around at the moment.

The FCC wants to kill off hidden phone fees
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell Phones
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants to prevent the telecom industry from charging its customers with unauthorized or hidden fees on their monthly bills (also known as cramming). FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said the agency would consider a proposal to "explore new ways to empower consumers and protect Americans against cramming and mystery fees," according to The Wall Street Journal.
It's not yet clear what the FCC will outline as an option, but the rules will focus on "transparency and disclosure" for consumers. Last week, the agency fined four small phone companies $11.7 million for adding unauthorized long-distance-related fees to subscribers' phone bills.

Nokia and Accenture seal Symbian handover deal
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsNOKIA
The Is have been dotted, the Ts have been crossed with a flourish, and pretty soon Nokia will have very little indeed to do with its formerly beloved Symbian OS. Oh sure, the company promises to keep it going with such standout devices as the Oro, but responsibility for developing and supporting Symbian is being wholly handed over to Accenture, along with 2,800 employees. When announced back in April, the deal called for 3,000 Nokia worker bees to make the jump over, so we suspect a few more (hopefully voluntary) redundancies are making up the difference with the new number.

Adobe AIR 2.7 brings improved speed to iOS, cordial installation to Android
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsAppleGoogleAndroidiOS 5
Adobe AIR 2.7 may be a sad joke for Linux users, but it's likely to be a true zinger for the mobile crowd. Take iOS, where the runtime now delivers noticeably faster performance, along with render speeds that are up to four times faster in CPU mode -- quite a punchline, if you ask us. For those on the Android side of the fence, you now have the option to install AIR to your device's SD card (and thus, make room for less considerate applications). Sadly, there's no monumental leaps in speed for Google's users, but you're getting used to this, right? For a quick peek of what the Apple constituency can expect, you'll find a video after the break with two iPads -- one running 2.6, the other feat...

AT&T sees Q1 2012 approval for T-Mobile acquisition
Like UnlikeFiled in: T-MobileAT&T
Because of the size of the deal, AT&T's planned acquisition of T-Mobile for $39 billion must get approval from both the FTC and the Justice Department. Those who oppose or are in favor the deal had until Monday to register their opinion with both agencies. You can be sure that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse had a few choice words to pass along to the government as he has been the most vocal in the industry against the deal.

Samsung denies meeting with Apple to discuss patent dispute
Like UnlikeFiled in: SamsungApple
Samsung on Monday denied Apple attorney Harold McElhinny’s claim that the two companies are currently holding high-level talks in an attempt to settle ongoing patent disputes. U.S. district judge Lucy Koh told the companies last week to meet and discuss possible amicable solutions to their disputes. McElhinny responded by saying executives from the two companies are “meeting and talking,” but Samsung is singing a different tune. “We are unaware of any meetings or discussions between the two sides over this matter,” a Samsung spokesperson said in a statement. It’s odd that Apple’s counsel would falsely claim the two companies are holding meetings if they are not, but we’re sure judge Koh will...
