The Xperia Active didn't exactly set the world alight with its specifications, but still managed to notch 4 out of 5 in our in-depth review as it turned out to be a perfectly capable little phone for the money.
Now it looks like Sony is set to reboot the handset with the Xperia Lotus, or Xperia ST27i/ST27a if you prefer, after details were leaked on its website.

CyanogenMod nightlies have appeared for AT&T's LG Thrill 4G, as well as the Sony Ericsson Xperia active and Xperia Pro handsets.
The mods, which are intended to test features and iron out bugs, are based on the current CM7 edition, not the Ice Cream Sandwich-laden CM9, which is still in the labs, but you'll still get the purified, functional CyanogenMod experience.
Since these nightlies are a necessary step on the way to stable releases, your LG Thrill 4G and the two Xperias should be in the list of supported devices soon, and hopefully you will see CyanogenMod 9 gracing the screen too afterwards, if you love playing around with your Android phone's capabilities. The folks at what will soon be simply Sony have released the XPERIA active here in the United States this week officially, complete with protection against elements of all kinds and connectivity on AT&T – though you’ll be purchasing the device off-contract at first. This 1GHz single-core processor toting Android device has a 3-inch HVGA display that’s scratch resistant, Wi-fi connectivity (or AT&T 3G if you wish), wrist strap, compass widget, heart rate and pulse monitoring apps, and a lovely orange coloring around the edges of the chassis. All this and a 5-megapixel camera for $340 unlocked – seem like your next device of choice, or has Sony dropped a brand new completely impenetrable brick...

If you’re one of those folks living an “active” lifestyle, you may like Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Active smartphone. The device is specially made to allow users to quickly track their outdoor activities such as running, biking and so on. In that sense, it comes with a number of pre-installed apps, as well as sensors needed to actually track stuff (i.e. accelerometer, GPS, compass and barometer).
Now we have one British phone retailer allowing interested users to pre-order their Xperia Active unit. That retailer is Play.com, which asks 229.99 GBP for the unlocked device, which then can be used with any mobile operator in the UK. Sony Ericsson used its time in CommunicAsia 2011 today to unveil three new phones - two in the Xperia smartphone line, and one messaging featurephone with a portrait physical QWERTY. The company is not participating per se, with a booth and everything, but it got around a quickie press conference to unveil this three new additions to its cell phone portfolio.
